My future profession
What I would like to become? This question is
important for me. Every job has its elements of difficulties and interest. I
think that nearly all the professions are very important in life. But to choose
the right occupation is very difficult, because we must take in to
consideration many factors. We must consider our personal taste and our kind of
mind. At the same time we must satisfy the requirements of our society and
peoples needs in one profession or another.
The end of school is the beginning of an independent
life, the beginning of a more serious examination. In order to pass that very
serious exam we must choose the road in life which will help us best to live
and work. Each boy and girl has every opportunity to develop skills and use
knowledge and education received at school. Some may prefer to work in
factories or plants, others want to go into construction: to take part in building
power stations and new towns. Many opportunities to work and to satisfy at the
same time the requirements of the society and your own personal interest are
offered in the sphere of the services transport, communications and many
others.
When choosing a future career it is important to keep
in the consideration the following things:
·
do you like meeting and dealing
with people;
·
do you like to work inside;
·
do you enjoy thinking about
problems;
·
do you enjoy working with your
hands;
·
do you like working on you own;
·
do you enjoy being creative.
Analyzing all this will help
not to make wrong choice.
I want to become a forest manager. I like this
profession because I like our nature and it is very interesting to take care of
our forests.

Ход мероприятия
I. Организационный момент. Сообщение темы и
целей урока
Teacher: Good afternoon, dear boys, girls and guests of our lesson. I’m very glad
to see you. How are you? Well, let’s begin our lesson. Yet know there are millions of
people in every city, every country. And they are different. No, today we aren’t going to
describe people and their characters. Today we will speak about the world of professions.
We shall learn the names of the professions and the adjectives to describe them.
Учащиеся называют те профессии, которые они
знают. Учитель записывает их на доске в столбик.
Teacher: Well done. But there are much more professions than you have just
mentioned. This or that profession means that a person does some specific work. And very
often professions are derived from other words with the same root. Названия
профессий часто происходят от других слов с этим
же корнем, например от слов, обозначающих
какой-либо вид деятельности. Например,
существительное teacher, обозначающее вид
профессии, образовано от глагола to teach. Let’s translate
these words.
Pupils: Учитель и учить.
Teacher: Right you are. Now let’s look at our list of professions we have already
written. Think what suffixes help to make new words denoting professions? С
помощью каких суффиксов образуются
существительные, обозначающие профессии?
Среди названных учащимися ранее слов могут
быть, например, существительные, образованные
при помощи суффиксов -er, -or, -ist. Учащиеся называют
эти суффиксы. Чтобы было наглядно и лучше
запомнилось, можно сделать карточки:
TEACH + ER = TEACHER
При этом суффикс -еr можно выделить другим
цветом.
II. Актуализация приемов использования
прилагательных в устной речи
Teacher: Now, children, let’s play and remember the adjectives to describe
yourself. As I know you like to play. I shall think of the word and you will guess it.
What adjectives to describe a person do you remember? (Responsible, sociable, reliable,
practical, enthusiastic, creative, tic.) What question will you ask? (Is it… ?)
Игра “Угадай”.
В начале игры учитель предлагает учащимся
назвать прилагательные, изученные на предыдущем
уроке. Ученики называют прилагательные, а
учитель выставляет данные слова на карточках на
наборное полотно. Учитель загадывает
прилагательное, а ученики пытаются его отгадать.
Ученик, отгадавший слово, становится ведущим в
игре и загадывает свое
Pupils: Is it the word «sociable»?
Teacher: No, it is not.
Pupils: Is it the word «creative»?
Teacher: No, it is not.
Pupils: Is it the word «careless»?
Teacher: Yes, it is.
III. Тренировка лексики по теме “Выбор
профессии”
Teacher: The next task for you is to complete the sentences with the words on the
cards. You will have 10 sentences and 5 minutes to complete them with the following words.
Учащиеся получают задание на карточке, которое
выполняется ими в течение пяти минут.
Ученики должны подставить слова в предложения.
При проверке данного задания ученики по очереди
зачитывают предложения и переводят их. В
некоторых предложениях возможно два и более
вариантов ответа.
Примерное задание на карточке:
Complete the sentences with the following words: successful, occupation, career,
creative, architect, vet, responsible, noble, prestigious, librarian, fireman.
- A profession of photographer is very….
- My sister says that teaching is a … profession.
- We have always thought that any job in the hospital is ….
- Careers of computer programmer are very … nowadays.
- My cousin wants to be an ….
- Will you write your… on this form?
- A … is a person who works in the library and helps people to choose books and
magazines to read. - I am sure that the profession of a … is rather dangerous.
- His … as a driver came to an end after a bad road accident.
- I am going to be a … because I like animals and birds.
Keys:
1) creative; 2) noble; 3) responsible; 4) successful; 5) architect; 6) occupation; 7)
librarian; fireman; 9) career; 10) vet.
Teacher: Well. Now I offer you to do some task. Let’s work in two teams . Please
make them. Give the names to your group connected with the topic of our lesson.
Учащиеся делятся на команды и дают им названия.
Можно разделить на команды по рядам, как они
сидят или с помощью цветных карточек. У учителя
карточки двух цветов, учащиеся закрывают глаза,
вытягивают карточки и делятся на команды в
соответствии с цветом.
Teacher: So, the task is the following: I’ll give you some words and you should
make up other words with the same root with the help of suffixes -er, -or, -ist. Итак,
я раздаю вам карточки со словами, от которых вы
должны образовать существительные, обозначающие
профессии, используя суффиксы -er, -or, -ist. Как
только одна из команд закончит выполнение
задания, начнем проверку. Is the task clear for you? Let’s start
then.
Учитель раздает обеим командам карточки, на
которых написаны слова:
То teach
То work
Economy
Football
To drive
To build
To save
То direct
То act
Bank
To report
To design
To write
Law
Science
В итоге у учащихся должны получиться следующие
слова: teacher, worker, economist, footballer/football player, driver, builder,
saver, director, actor/actress, banker, reporter, designer, writer, lawyer, scientist.
Teacher: Good. Please look at the word «actor». How can we name a
woman-actor?
Pupils: Actress.
Teacher: Right, actress. Remember that sometimes we use suffixes to name the
profession of a woman. What other words with this suffix do you know?
Pupils: Directress, stewardess.
В конце задания учитель подсчитывает
количество правильно образованных слов и
записывает результаты обеих команд.
IV. Развитие навыков аудирования по теме
“Профессии”
Teacher: I want you to look at the blackboard. Will you read the names of the
professions? Can you translate all of them? If you are ready to listen, let’s start.
На доске выписаны слова с названием профессий,
учащимся предлагается прослушать текст, в
котором упоминаются все из предложенных
профессий. Задача учеников — поставить все слова
согласно порядку, в котором они упоминались в
тексте. Текст прослушивается дважды.
V. Закрепление введенной лексики в устной и
письменной речи
Teacher: Well, now I’ll give you some other professions and the descriptions of
them. Your task is to match the description and the profession. Is it clear?
Учитель раздает учащимся карточки со словами,
обозначающими профессии и карточки с описаниями
этих профессий. Учащиеся должны сопоставить
описания и названия профессий.
Карточки.
- This is a person who treats people from different diseases. (Doctor)
- This is a person who catches criminals and keeps his/her eye on observing the law.
(Policeman) - This is a person who does sport. (Sportsman)
- This is a man who prevents fire and saves people from fire (Fireman)
- This is a person who works in a firm and deals with money. (Book-keeper)

- This is a person who creates buildings before the construction. (Architect)
Список слов: doctor, policeman, sportsman, fireman, book-keeper, shop
assistant, nurse, dentist, postman and pilot, architect
Задание выполняется командами либо в течение
определенного времени, например, в течение пяти
минут, либо пока его выполнение закончит одна из
команд. Тогда обе команды прекращают выполнение
задания и проверяют его вместе с учителем.
Учитель фиксирует все правильные и неправильные
ответы команд и записывает результаты.
Teacher: Very good. Now let’s think about adjectives that can jm profession. Let’s
play ball. The rules of the game are the following. I throw you a ball and say a word
which can describe a profession. If you agree with me you should say: “Тгuе”, if
you don’t agree with me you can say “False”. The team that will have more right
answers will win. Is the task clear?
Учитель бросает учащимся (по очереди из одной и
из другой команды) мячик и называет слово,
которое, по его мнению, может описать ту или иную
профессию. Если учащийся согласен, что данное
слово действительно описывает профессию, он
говорит «True», если же он не согласен, что с
помощью этого слова можно описать профессию, он
говорит “False”. Команда, набравшая большее
количество правильных ответов, побеждает.
Прилагательные: interesting, beautiful, exciting, boring, clever,
active, peaceful, stressful, tall, big, dangerous, low, well-paid, energetic. tiring,
prestigious, expensive, creative, responsible, wide.
Слова, на которые нужно ответить “Тruе”: interesting,
exciting, active, peaceful, stressful, dangerous, well-pail, energetic, tiring,
prestigious, creative, responsible
После выполнения задания следует спросить у
учащихся перевод всех слов. Все слова,
описывающие какую-либо профессию, следует
записать в тематический словарик или в тетрадь.
Teacher: Well, now let’s change the game a bit. I throw you a ball and name a
profession and you describe me this profession with the words we have just written.
Учитель продолжает игру с мячиком, только
теперь называет не прилагательные, а профессии.
Учащиеся же должны описать эту профессию. В конце
игры подсчитываются баллы и записываются
результаты команд. В качестве судьи можно
выбрать, например, кого-либо из учащихся (в начале
игры).
Teacher: Well done. And now I offer you another game. The rules of the game are
the following. Each team thinks about five professions. Then you describe these
professions to the other team and they should guess what professions you have described.
The other team does the same. Are the rules clear? You have ten minutes for this task.
Учащиеся каждой команды получают задание
загадать по пять профессий и описать их команде
соперников, которые должны отгадать, о какой
профессии идет речь. На задание дается десять
минут. По истечении времени команды по очереди
начинают читать свои загадки. Учитель отмечает
количество правильно отгаданных профессий и
записывает результаты команд.
Teacher: Well done. Now let’s name all the professions we’ve mentioned today once
more. Let’s have a competition. Take turns in calling the professions.
Учащиеся из каждой команды по очереди называют
все профессии, о которых говорилось на уроке.
Побеждает команда, которая последней назовет
слово.
Teacher: Well, we have remembered all the professions and now let’s speak about
these professions. Let’s discuss the following questions:
What profession is the most difficult and the most responsible?
What professions are creative and interesting and what professions are boring?
What profession would you personally choose? And why?
Don’t forget to use the phrases of expressing opinion. They are on the blackboard.
Let’s work all together.
I think
In me opinion
As for me
Personally I (think)
I agree that (with that)
I disagree that (with that)
May I just say something?
Yes, but
It’s true
It’s not true
Учащиеся получают три вопроса для обсуждения и
выражения своего мнения. На доске написаны
опорные фразы, помогающие выразить мысль.
Обсуждение идет не по группам, а всем классом.
Учитель может играть роль координатора и может
задавать вопросы. Задавать вопросы следует не
только те, которые написаны на доске, но и те, что
побуждают учащихся к ведению дискуссии.
Oleg, do you agree with Tanya that…
Sasha, and what is your opinion about this?
VI. Тренировка употребления слов job, profession, career
It is important to know how to use the words «job»,
«profession» and «career». Look at the blackboard, please. Let’s read
the definitions of these words all together. Now let’s fill in the gaps in the sentences
using these words.
Учитель привлекает внимание учащихся к
предложениям, ранее записанным на доске.
Учащиеся зачитывают предложения вслух и
переводят их с целью найти различия в словах
“job», “profession», «career». Затем ученики
выполняют упр. 8, из Рабочей тетради. После
выполнения данного упражнения учитель
предлагает учащимся записать в тетради примеры
предложений, в которых используются слова
“job», «profession», «career».
Примерная запись на доске:
A job is the work that a person does regularly in order to earn money.
A career is the series of jobs that a person does in his/her life.
A profession is a job that requires special training and brings a other high social

Transcript
1
I work as a receptionist in a hotel. The job is OK. There are lots of different things I have to do, like deal with the public, check guests in and out, answer the phone, use a computer, and so on. So every day is different. The problem is, I have to work long hours, sometimes at night, so I’m absolutely exhausted when I go home.
2
I’m an architect. I finished college last year and this is my first job. I love designing houses, creating something beautiful for people. I love working in a team and the other people in the office are great. But we all work very long hours. Luckily, I get quite a lot of money so it’s worth it!
3
I’m from Senegal and I work as a cleaner. I’m on my feet all day, but I don’t mind because I’m fit and strong and the work isn’t too hard. But I have to clean the same offices every day, six days a week. The same offices! That’s very boring. And I only get about £7 an hour, which isn’t much at all. Britain is expensive and it’s difficult to live on so little money.
4
I’m a programmer. I work for a software company in London. I love my job. I often have to solve quite difficult problems, which is difficult, and takes a lot of time, but I really enjoy it. I love the feeling at the end of the day when I have solved a really difficult problem.
