1. Use Task Manager

If you’ve tried to open Microsoft Office Word (for example) from your Windows 10 computer or laptop and it didn’t do anything, try opening the Task Manager.

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager and take a look either through the opened apps or under the Details tab, where you will find it as WINWORD.EXE.

9. Make sure Office is activated

If your copy of Microsoft Office Suite is not genuine, you won’t be able to open any Office app. Technically, you’ll be able to open any program normally, but you can’t do anything with it.

You can’t create new documents, or open and edit existing documents. It’s just an empty shell. So, make sure your Office is properly activated, and try to run in once again.

2. Enter the following command in Run and then hit Enter:

2. Switch to the Add-ins tab and disable all of them.
3. Close the application and try starting it normally.

Solution 2: Change Default Printer using another User Account

In such a case, you will have to change your default printer. You can try to change your default printer without using a different user account, however, in case it doesn’t work, you will have to change it using another user account. Here’s how to do it:

4. Untick ‘Let Windows manage my default printer’ and then select the printer you want to use.

5. Afterward, restart your system and launch Microsoft Word.

Solution 4: Repair Installation

Finally, the last thing you can do to fix your issue would be to repair your Microsoft Office’s installation. Here’s how to do it:

1. Press Windows Key + X and select ‘Apps and Features’ located on top of the list.
2. Highlight Microsoft Office from the list and select Modify.
3. Now, depending on your copy of Office, you might get one of the two prompts, ‘How would you like to repair your Office Programs’ or ‘Change your installation’.
4. If you get the first one, select Quick Repair and then click Repair. If this doesn’t fix the issue, try repairing using the Online Repair option.
5. In case you get the ‘Change your installation’ window, just select Repair and then click Continue.

Repair and save your document

Примечание. Если параметр Восстановить недоступен, щелкните правой кнопкой мыши пункт Изменить > выберите Восстановить и нажмите Продолжить.

Подождите, пока программа восстановления перезапустит Word и восстановит программу Microsoft Office.

3 Запустите Word в безопасном режиме

Открытие Microsoft Word в безопасном режиме, отключает все плагины и надстройки, установленные на вашем компьютере.

1. Щелкните правой кнопкой мыши кнопку Пуск и выберите Выполнить.
2. В командном окне Выполнить введите winword.exe / safe и нажмите ОК, чтобы запустить Microsoft Word в безопасном режиме.
3. Теперь попробуйте снова открыть не отвечающий файл Word.

4 Отключите плагины и надстройки
