Many users prefer to use “Dark Mode” in their Office applications as it reduces the amount of bright white light on screen that can get quite uncomfortable after a while. Luckily, Microsoft Office has themes that can be used to change the color appearance of Office applications like Word and Outlook to be, for example, black. In the past, the black Office theme has kept Word documents white while turning most of the user interface to the darker color. However, it seems that Word has recently started turning the documents of some users black as well.
Some users may like this as it really tones down the white light, and others may not as it can make colored elements and images look a bit off. Luckily there is a simple toggle to switch this back and forth.
Open up the options menu by clicking File, then Options at the bottom. The Options menu starts in the General tab. In this General tab navigate to the Personalize section. Next to the Office Theme selector is a check box for Disable dark mode. Checking this box will keep the document white while using a dark Office theme. Unchecking it will change the document color.
As a note, while the document appears black with that unchecked, it wouldn’t actually print out a black document with white text, nor would pdf files created from the document be black. It is purely a cosmetic, personal-preference setting.
This similar function also exists in Microsoft Outlook. It can be accessed in essentially the exact same way as in Word: File > Options > General > Personalize. The only difference is that the check box is labeled as “Never change the message background color” rather than “Disable dark mode.”

In recent years, there’s been increased scrutiny on the glaring, bright screens many people use at all hours of the day and night. Concerned about the eye strain these programs cause, many programs offer a dark mode that typically flips the color palette so that large, brightly lit sections of the screen are dark, making the screen more comfortable to read.
Microsoft Word has its own dark mode that turns the toolbar and canvas surrounding the document dark, leaving just the document itself white. You also have the option to flip the document to white text on a black background as well.
How to turn on Microsoft Word’s dark mode
1. In the ribbon at the top of the screen, click File.

2. Click Account in the bottom of the File menu.
3. Click the Office Theme dropdown, and then select Black.

You should now see a dark interface with a black document. The advantage is that this darker view is typically easier on your eyes in low light settings, but it is a less accurate depiction of what other people will see when you share the finished document, so the choice is yours whether to use it or not.

2. Click Options in the bottom of the File menu.
3. Make sure you are in the General tab, and then find the Personalize your copy of Microsoft Word section.

going back to what you know.
trying something out, but realizing it wasn’t for you, and going back to what you know. black has more of a lower connotation to it — versus going back to «white.»
got into a relationship and changed aspects of the way you live and your life. got out of the relationship (exonerated yourself, more like it) and going back to your life (just the way YOU like it) = back to black.
going back to your ex, because that’s what you know = back to black.
giving up staying straight, and giving in to your addiction = back to black.
Get the back to black mug.
no more faking the funk — accepting yourself for the way you are. not trying to change for the better for other people’s eyes and perceptions. coming back from trying to change your life for someone else, to just being who you are. people may have a problem with the way you live your life, but that’s ok, because you love yourself.

Amy Winehouse — Back To Black
He left no time to regret
Kept his dick wet
With his same old safe bet
Me and my head high
And my tears dry
Get on without my guy
You went back to what you knew
So far removed from all that we went through
And I tread a troubled track
My odds are stacked
I’ll go back to black
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to…
I go back to us
I love you much
It’s not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I’m a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to… (x2)
Black, black, black, black, black, black, black,
I go back to…
I go back to…
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to…
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black
Back to black”
He has his car business — it is his safe bet —
It didn’t break him. He went out the room with his head high —
В контексте песни мы сталкиваемся со значением английской фразы “продолжаю жизнь без моего любимого” — “get on without my guy”.
Can you remove this terrible photo of me?
John removed so far from what we used to call “us” — Джон так отдалился; уже нет того, что звалось “мы”.
How can you say such words? After all that we’ve been through?
Amy treads a troubled track —
В песне Эми Уайнхаус использует фразу “my odds are stacked”.
Сначала в песне встречаются строчки “I go back to us” — хоть ты и ушел, я все же возвращаюсь к нам, к нашему прошлому. Тогда героиня Эми в песне говорит: “I go back to black” (“Я снова залезу в свою дыру депрессии и мрачного настроения”).
Не просто так в видеоклипе мы становимся свидетелями похоронной процессии, которая сопровождается надписью “Rest in peace, the heart of Amy Winehouse” (“Покойся с миром, сердце Эми Уайнхаус”).
We only said goodbye with words, I died a hundred times —

Ranked as the #98 best song of the 2000’s, “Back to Black” details the harsh reality Winehouse faced after her then-boyfriend, Blake Fielder-Civil, ended their relationship to return to his ex-girlfriend.
The titular “black” to which Winehouse goes back refers to the dark moments of depression and the reliance on alcohol to cope with her heartache. Winehouse commented on the depressing period of time during a 2007 interview with CNN, saying:
I was drinking a lot – not anything terrible, I was just tryna forget about the fact that I had finished this relationship.
The song was released as the third single from the 2006 album of the same name, and, as of July 2015, has sold over 350,000 copies in the United Kingdom alone.
The song was written in March 2006 in New York alongside British songwriter and producer Mark Ronson, who also helped to craft five more songs on the album. During an interview with Red Bull Music Academy in April 2015, Ronson expanded on the creation of the song:
The song – it took me about one night to lay the foundation of that track and then Amy wrote the lyrics and the melody especially fast, so it was like half a day, and then we probably recorded the rhythm track in three hours.
