Thanks!

Page 1 sur 2
or
Page 1 de 2 (but this form is, I reckon, a literal/computer translation of «page 1 of 2»).
To be sure, just write «(page) 1/2»

I think — I have no fax next to me — it is noted 1/2, 2/2.
Easy and practical, isn’t it?
Customizing the page numbers in a Word document can be difficult the first couple of times you try.
Page numbers in the header or footer and handled a little differently than the rest of the content in a document, and there are several different options.
You may be wondering how to add a page 1 of 2 numbering style in Word if your document requirements include that formatting.
Page numbers are a very important organizational aspect of a document, particularly if someone is editing it and might separate the document pages eventually. But the page number only tells part of the story of the document’s structure. It might also be important to know how many pages are in the document.
Fortunately, Microsoft Word 2013 has a page numbering option that allows you to include the total number of document pages as part of the page numbering.
So, for example, if you wanted to have Page 1 of 2 in a Word 2013 document, you would be able to select that format and number your document pages in that manner.
Our tutorial continues below with more information on how you can add page numbers to the header or footer sections of your document, as well as how to format the appearance of those page numbers.
- Open the document.
- Click Insert.
- Select Page Number.
- Choose a location.
Our article continues below with additional information on adding the page 1 of 2 page numbering style in Word, including pictures of these steps.
How to Add Page X of Y Page Numbers in Word (Guide with Pictures)
The steps in this article were performed in Microsoft Word 2013. Once this is finished you will have a document with page numbers in the format Page X of Y. So if you are looking at the first page of a two page document, then the page number would be Page 1 of 2.
Step 1: Open your document in Word 2013.
Step 2: Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
Step 3: Click the Page Number button in the Header & Footer section of the ribbon.
Step 4: Click the Top of Page or Bottom of Page option (depending on where you want your page numbers to display) then scroll down to the Page X of Y section and choose your preferred location.
You can then make any adjustments to the page numbers using the options on the Header & Footer Tools Design tab.
Either double-click inside the body of the document or click the Close Header and Footer button to continue editing your document.
Our tutorial continues below with additional discussion about adding and customizing page number information in a Microsoft document.
How to Remove Page Numbers from the Title Page in Microsoft Word
One of the most common customizations that people want to make is whether or not their document has a different first page. if you have a title page and don’t want to include the first page number of that page, then you probably want to make use of that option.
These steps assume that you already have page numbers in the header or footer of your document.
- Double-click on your page number.
- Select Different First Page.
This will remove the page numbers from the header or footer on the first page.
If you want to choose the page number that your document starts with for your x of y format page numbers, then you can select the Insert tab, click Page Numbers, then select Format Page Numbers and click the Start at button and enter a number.
More Information on How to Add, Remove or Edit Page Numbers in a Word Document
Note that there are a handful of ways to alter the look of the page numbers that appear in your document. For example, in the article above we have chosen to use the option that shows the current page number, as well as the total number of pages in the document.
If you ever decide that you want to change the look of your page numbers then you can open the Insert menu by clicking Insert at the top of the window, select Page Numbers to expand the drop down menu, then click Format Page Numbers.
This opens a new Page Number Format dialog box that lets you select the number format (you could choose roman numerals, for example, if you wanted to), whether or not to include chapter numbers, and choose if you want your page numbering to have a different starting number, whether or not it should continue from the previous section if you have added a section break.
You can add a section break if you select the Layout tab, select Breaks in the Page Setup group, then click one of the Section Breaks options like Next Page, Continuous, Even Pages, or Odd Pages.
Do you also need to set up your Word document so that it isn’t displaying the page number on the first page, or title page? Learn how to skip the first page when numbering in Word 2013 to achieve this result.

An OUTLINE FIX: (For my novel of 829 pages with notes, opening it to see it suddenly having only 12 pages! What the freak—?!)
Following an online search and the above suggested fixes: I was about to save the .docx as .doc when a small window opened to state the Outline «Collapsed by default» feature would not be saved.
I cancelled the copying process.
Closed everything.
Opened the .docx that seemed to be missing pages, yet seemed to have the correct word count.
Placed cursor in the first Heading 1 paragraph.
In the Home Menu, Styles section, right clicked the box «Heading 1», selected Modify, clicked Format button, clicked Paragraph…
HERE lurks the culprit: Under Indents and Spacing tab, General section, unchecked «Collapsed by default». Clicked OK.
Then in the bottom left of my screen, my page count started going back up to 829 pages. All seemed OK.
Made a normal backup before making any other changes.
Thanks to all the above posters who opened the way to find my fix.
Spread the good Karma all!

Need some help with how to delete a blank page in Word?
If you’re reading this, you’re probably wrestling with an extra page break or a blank page or a lot of space within your document somewhere.
In this blog I’m going to show you how to delete a blank page in Word using several different fixes, starting with the easiest and moving to the more unusual fixes.
1. Removing unwanted extra paragraphs
2. Removing unwanted page breaks
3. Checking the pagination settings
4. Removing a section break (the safe way)
5. Removing a blank last page
1. Removing unwanted extra paragraphs
On the Home tab click on the Show Hide character button.
Once that’s on you will see a little symbol on your screen. This represents where the Enter key has been hit on the keyboard to start a new paragraph.
If you can see a whole heap of little symbols that means somebody has pressed the Enter key many times to start a new page.
To remove them, select over the symbols and press your Delete key. This will delete the empty paragraphs and remove the extra space, hopefully removing your blank or wanted page.
2. Removing unwanted page breaks
When you have your Show/Hide characters turned on you can also see where a page break has been inserted into the document.
Creating a page break is simple. You can place your insertion point wherever you want to start information on a new page and on the Insert tab click the Page Break button.
This inserts a page break symbol.
So, all you need to do is delete the symbol and you will remove the page break and bring your text back together again. To get rid of those extra pages you may need to remove unwanted page breaks.
3. Checking the pagination settings
Checking pagination settings isn’t something a lot of people think of when trying to work out how to delete a blank page in Word.
If you have a big gap and you can’t see any paragraph markers or page break symbols, check your pagination settings.
First click into the paragraph at the top of the next page (the paragraph after the big gap).
Right-click over the paragraph and select Paragraph.
When the Paragraph dialog box opens click on to the Line and Page Breaks tab.
Remove the check mark from the Page break before option box and click OK.
You should now have removed the big gap and your paragraphs will be back together again.
4. Removing a section break (the safe way)
Section breaks can cause extra pages in your document. But before you remove them, just be careful.
If you delete a section break you may delete any headers and footers you have in the previous section.
A section break ‘sections’ your document so that you can have different page formats in different sections.
For example, in section 1 you can have a header and page numbering. In section 2 you can turn these off.
Deleting the section break between section 1 and section 2 will apply the header and footer settings from section 2 only, removing section 1’s formats. Therefore, your header and page numbering will disappear.
So proceed with caution.
What you can do prior to deleting the section break is go into the header, footer or page number settings for section 2, and connect these from section 1 by clicking the Link to Previous button. This will then continue the same formatting settings into section 2.
Click Yes to connect to the header/footer in the previous section.
Now, with your Show/Hide characters on you should be able to see the Section Break symbol. Just select it and press Delete to remove it.
And the extra page will now be gone, and your headers and footers should still be fine.
5. Removing a blank last page
If you have a blank last page in your document that isn’t disappearing when you select the paragraph marker and press Delete, try this.
From the Home tab turn on your Show/Hide characters and then go to the second to last page of your document.
If you can see a page break symbol, select it, and delete it.
If you can see many paragraph symbols with empty paragraphs, select these and delete these.
You should now have removed your blank last page.
