Instructions

Word Snake puzzles are a variation on the classic Word Search. Instead of being spelled out in straight lines on the grid, the words can be arranged in winding paths, with each new letter adjacent to the last either horizontally or vertically.

How to play

Find the words in the grid by touching and dragging with your finger. From each letter you can continue the path up, down, left or right — diagonal moves are not used. As you draw a line on the grid, the letters you’ve marked are spelled out above the grid. When you’ve found a valid word, the letters will animate, and the word will be added (crossed out) to the list below the puzzle.

At the start of a Word Snake puzzle, the starting letter of the first word is highlighted on the grid. Directly below the grid you will see the theme of the puzzle, and the first word you’re trying to find. Use the theme of the puzzle to determine likely words to look for in the grid.

The next word to find will often start with one of the unused letters next to the last letter of the previous word. The puzzle proceeds in this way until all the words have been found.

Every letter in the grid is used in exactly one answer word — answers do not overlap and there should be no letters left unused at the end of the puzzle.

If you’ve made a mistake (i.e drawn a line over a word the game doesn’t recognise as an answer for this puzzle), you can tap the line you’ve drawn to erase it from the grid. Correctly completed words are ‘locked in’ and can’t be deleted in this way accidentally.

Note: Some answer words may be made up of two or more words. For these to be recognised they must be traced with one unbroken line. e.g., for the answer «WATER FOUNTAIN» a line must be made connecting all the letters «W-A-T-E-R-F-O-U-N-T-A-I-N». If you’ve found a word that the game isn’t recognising, look around the last letter to see if another word can be attached.

Extra help

If you’re stuck on a Word Snake puzzle, you can use coins to buy hints.

Hints can be used by tapping on the relevant icon in the status bar area at the top of the screen.

The cost (in coins) to use each hint is printed under its icon.

■ Next Word

If you’re having trouble thinking of words related to the puzzle topic, use this hint to display the next word that you can find in the grid. It won’t show the word’s location on the grid.

■ Reveal Word

Use this hint to both reveal the next word and automatically find it and mark it on the grid.

Description

A word snake is (unsurprisingly) a snake made up of a sequence of words.

For instance, take this sequence of words:

Notice that the last letter in each word is the same as the first letter in the next word. In order to make this into a word snake, you simply snake it across the screen

Your task today is to take an input word sequence and turn it into a word snake. Here are the rules for the snake:

• It has to start in the top left corner

• Each word has to turn 90 degrees left or right to the previous word

• The snake can’t intersect itself

Other than that, you’re free to decide how the snake should «snake around». If you want to make it easy for yourself and simply have it alternate between going right and going down, that’s perfectly fine. If you want to make more elaborate shapes, that’s fine too.

Formal inputs & outputs

Input

The input will be a single line of words (written in ALL CAPS). The last letter of each word will be the first letter in the next.

Output

Your word snake! Make it look however you like, as long as it follows the rules.
