По значению имена существительные
делятся на нарицательные
и собственные
.
Имена нарицательные обозначают целые
классы предметов: a
table,
a
house,
a
day.
Имена собственные являются именами или
названиями единичных лиц и предметов.
Имена собственные, а также названия
дней недели, месяцев, праздников и
национальностей пишутся с заглавной
буквы (Peter,
Ann,
Monday,
April,
French,
Christmas).
Существительные в английском языке
имеют два числа – единственное
и множественное
число,
и только два падежа – общий
и притяжательный
падежи.

Образование
множественного числа существительных

Основным
способом образования множественного
числа имён существительных является
прибавление окончания -s
или -es
к форме существительного в единственном
числе.
