Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ Words of Power work exactly as you might expect: you use a certain command to open doors and other fun. It’s not quite like your Thu’um from Skyrim, but the Words of Power are key if you want to really explore every nook and cranny of your hub world.
Unlocking new Words of Power is no easy task, though, so in this guide, I’ll talk you through how to obtain each one and what you can use them for.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns Words of Power
Once you’ve unlocked a Word of Power, hold down the space bar to bring up the Word of Power menu. Each word has a symbol, and symbols will appear on doors and the like, indicating that you can use a word here. Keep an eye out for the Open symbol on closed doors, for example, as that’s a sign you can use your Word of Power to unlock a new area.
Here’s the order you need to unlock the Words of Power in and how to win each battle.
Open
Upon starting Agatha’s quest, you’ll find a Blood Gate that you can open. Once inside, you’ll find a Moon Seal that you place on a column, initiating a fight. This fight is super easy, as you and Charlie are only fighting demon dogs that each die to a single hit. Defeat them all to win the fight. You can now use Open on doors to reach new places around the map.
Reveal
After finding all of the elemental rods (opens in new tab), you’ll get a second Moon Seal that you can use to unlock a Blood Door near the Standing Stones. This challenge involves killing 16 Lilin and is considerably more challenging—you might struggle if you’re below level eight. You’ll want to focus on killing the hounds using knockback moves, and making use of the surrounding rocks and plinths you can launch yourself from. You must survive four turns and have killed 16 enemies, so make use of Fortify to protect yourself against the big guys.
Once the fight is over, you’ll get Reveal. This ability will let you repair broken bridges and highlight hidden Arcane keys. To use it, you must be standing on the eye icons.
Purify
Once again, the difficulty ramps up on your way to get the Purify Word of Power. This ability lets you remove green vines, clearing yet more paths for you to explore. This section requires a fair bit of story progression and leveling to get the job done. You’ll need to work with Doctor Strange and fight with Venom once again to get the Moon Seal to unlock the Blood Gate, as well as help Agatha find Witch Covens and Stained Soil. You can find the Blood Gate at the Edler Hyppus Shrine, which is in the north of the map to the east of Agatha’s cottage.
Prior to the challenge beginning, praise and pet Charlie as often as you can to improve her power level. You’ll also want to rely on the Howl card as it marks enemies and refunds card plays which is super useful. This fight is really something, so I’d advise going a few levels over the recommended level 12 before you attempt it unless you’ve rolled some really powerful cards. Again, you need to survive for four turns and defeat at least 16 Lilin to complete the challenge.
Once you begin the challenge, you’ll want to focus on the Dark Legion enemies over the dogs this time. These guys multiply when you attack them, and, if left alive, can also create new copies of their allies—including the big guys. You need to bring them down as fast as possible so make sure you’ve got some high-damage single attacks or AOE moves to do it in as few moves as possible. There are also the Guardians and dogs to deal with, too, but luckily no reinforcements arrive for the first three turns due to the splitting thing. Using knockback moves remains one of the most useful abilities. Save your most powerful cards for the Guardians.
After the fight is over, head through the door and stick the Mood Seal on the plinth to unlock Purify.
Break
The last Word of Power is Break, which lets you smash through crumbling walls and piles of rubble. You can even destroy some large statues to reveal Arcane Chests. You’ll need to find three Moon Seal shards.
First shard: Found to the west of the Everflowing Glade, on a wooden platform overlooking some cliffs.
Second shard: Found near a cliff edge in the north of the map, directly north of the Garden of Envy.
Third shard: Found lodged in a cliffside just to the east of the Garden of Envy.
Once you have all three shards, visit Agatha at Lillith’s Garden—which is to the west of the Garden of Envy—and she’ll ask that you visit her cottage and grab a flower, so go ahead and do that. Once you’ve visited Agatha’s cottage, head back to the library and she’ll create the final Moon Seal.
The final Blood Gate can be found to the north of Lilith’s Garden at the edge of the map. This will be the toughest challenge and I do not recommend starting it if you’re not at the required level. Again, you need to survive for four turns and kill 16 Lilin.
Before you begin, it would be a good idea to craft combat items like the Agility Serum to gain one move for free which can really make or break the fight. All the same tips from the previous gates apply here and I would strongly encourage you to bring the Annihilation card, and others like Guarding Strike. Keep the knockback cards, too, as you can take out more than one enemy at a time or throw them into the plinths dotted around the arena.
A new enemy type is introduced here: Revenant. This enemy will soul bind with other enemies. If you don’t kill all soulbound enemies in a single turn they will regenerate health, so you can see how this can get out of hand fast. Once the fight is over, place the Moon Seal on the column and you’ll unlock the final Word of Power, so get smashing.

If you want to be progressing through the game with the ability to unlock every single possible thing, you will need to get the Reveal Word of Power. In this guide, we will be showing you absolutely everything that you need to do in order to get it unlocked. Let’s get started.
There are a couple of things that you shall need to do first in order to get the Reveal Word of Power. Here we will present you with a list of everything that you should pass in order to unlock the Reveal Word of Power.
Complete Agatha’s Altar
First of all, you will need to go all the way to the bottom left corner of the map and here locate and find the Agatha’s Altar. It will be just as it is shown in the picture above. You will find Agatha’s ghost in front of it and she will give you a quest.
The quest will be with the objective of finding a total of 4 Rods and bringing all of them back to this same location here. Now we shall show you how to find all of the Rods.
Air Elemental Rod
You will need to come just a little bit to the left of the Agatha’s Altar and look for it under the Whispering Wood. It will be all the way next to the shoreline at the end of the map.
Water Elemental Rod
For this one, you will need to go to the little bridge that is inside The Abbey and located inside the Grotto lake. You can find the bridge easily. You will need to go to the lake and then under the small bridge is where you shall find the small Water Rod.
Fire Elemental Rod
You will be going to the south side of the Abbey. Once here just follow the hallway until you reach the very last room of it. Here you will enter this door and then go to the right side of the room. There you shall find the Fire Rod.
Earth Elemental Rod
For this one, just get inside the Hunter’s Folly as it is shown in the picture above. You will need to use the Word of Power Open, to get the gate to open, and then inside you will get the last Earth Rod.
Now once you have them all, just bring them all the way back to the Agatha’s Alter where you originally took the quest.
Take The Moon Seal
Once you will complete the Agatha’s Alter quest, you will be given a Moon Seal as a reward. You shall need to pick it up and have it inside your inventory. Once you have this item with you, you can go ahead and continue with the steps to unlock the Reveal Power.
Complete Second Blood Gate Trial Of The Elder
This is where the Blood Gate can be found. You will just find the gate with the Red Sign on it and then just continue to open it up to get inside of it. The objective here is:
- Defeat 16 Lilin within 4 turns
It is a very simple task of just defeating all the monsters that will be coming your way. Now without further ado, you can unlock the Reveal power.
Unlock Reveal Word Of Power
You will now enter the new area that you have unlocked after the finishing of the Blood Gate. Once inside you will just be looking for this place:
Here you shall be able to just pick up the new Word of Power for Reveal. Congratulations!

Words of Power are unique exploration abilities in Marvel’s Midnight Suns that you unlock by collecting Moon Seals and completing Challenge Missions at Blood Gates.
There are four Words of Power in Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Open, Reveal, Purify, and Break. Open is the first one you unlock and cannot be missed if you just explore the Abbey for a little bit. The rest, however, require some figuring out and serious exploring, which us especially annoying if you’re trying to figure out you can build bridges, get rid of the vines, and break down the fractured walls across The Abbey.
If you’re searching for the Words of Power in Midnight Suns, here’s how and where you unlock every single one.
Atum – Reveal (Build Bridges)
First of all, you will need to have collected the Moon Seal, which you earn from collecting all rods for Agatha’s Altar in the west of The Abbey. All of them are fairly easy to find as long as you just keep exploring with the Open Word of Power. The only one that may give you some trouble is the Earth Rod.
With the Moon Seal collected from Agatha’s Altar, make your way over to Standing Stones in the east of The Abbey, then approach the giant gate with a glowing eye called the Blood Gate.
Press your interact button to open a portal.
Walk through the portal to start the Trial of the Elder Gods: Atum Challenge Mission. This isn’t too tricky, as long as you’re above level 8. Keep using Charlie’s marking ability to let you get rid of all of the dogs without using up your card plays, then use the environment and Hunter’s attack cards to contend with the big guys. As long as you complete the Challenge Mission within four turns, the wall will break and you can walk inside to the tomb.
Approach the altar inside, then place the Moon Seal on the altar itself.
After you’ve done this, you’ll then be able to use the Reveal Word of Power from Atum to help you build bridges by bringing up your Word of Power and then choosing Reveal on the right in front of any sign bearing Atum’s eye.
Hyppus – Purify (Remove Green Vines)
If you thought the last Word of Power was tough and a bit long-winded to unlock, you’ve barely even begun when it comes to Hyppus.
Get to Shaw’s Church in the north of the map past Valley of the Winds, which you can now get to after using Reveal just to the west of the Blood Gate you just overcame to build a bridge.
Carry all along this path until you get to Shaw’s Curch, then use your Words of Power to open doors until you get to the back of the church. Don’t forget to open the chest out here on the left as you enter the backyard.
Your progress will then be blocked by wards. Go find Doctor Strange and bring him to the wards. He will tell you that he has to think about it, and you must extract a sample from Venom as part of the main story before you can progress.
Once you’ve properly defeated Venom, pick up the Symbiote vial from the Forge, then return to the ward at Shaw’s Church, clear the ward, and look at Shaw’s bones. After talking to Agatha, return to his study and use the Reveal Word of Power on his desk to discover pages that Agatha then wants to study.
Later, Agatha wants you to locate all of the Witch Covens and collect Stained Soil from within them and return them to her after giving you clues on pieces of paper that relate to

Once you’ve collected them, Agatha will then direct you to The Hanging Tree, which is located near the graveyard partway between Shaw’s Church and Everflowing Glade. Just follow the path to the west of Shaw’s Church.
Use your Reveal Word of Power to unearth the Moon Seal within.
Take the Moon Seal to Elder Hyppus Shrine, which you will need to use your Words of Power pretty liberally to reach and build bridges towards.
Touch the large stone like before to start the Elder Gods: Hyppus Challenge Mission, but bear in mind that you will need to be at least level 12, as this challenge is significantly harder.
This one has the same objective: defeat 16 Lillin within four turns. However, the fact that they keep multiplying doesn’t help. Just like before, keep using Charlie’s marking abilities to clear all the dogs out of the way, then prioritise the humanoid creatures over the giants this time, as they’re the ones who keep multiplying. Unless you get rid of them first, you’re just going to have too hard a time.
Just like last time, place the Moon Seal on the altar and you will unlock a new Word of Power: Purify. This allows you to turn back time and remove the corruption (meaning all the green vines), with the path now being cleared for the fourth and final Word of Power.
Set – Break (Fractured Walls)
Now that you have Purify, make your way to the location on the map below and clear the corruption you find there to continue your progress with Words of Power.
Walk down the stairs and enter Garden of Envy, with Agatha waiting for you at Lilith’s Garden down the road; clear the corruption to gain access. Talk to Agatha and she will tell you that you need to collect three shards of another Moon Seal. Agatha asks you to return to her tomorrow, but you can start collecting them as soon as you stop talking to her.
The first one is actually incredibly close by. Just run back down the slope you came up to Lilith’s Garden and use Open on the door to what seems to be a mini graveyard at this location below.
Enter the graveyard, collect all the loot, then look for a log to the right that you can run all the way up and around until you come across the first shard.
For the next shard, leave the way you came in, then go right and use purify to open up paths until you arrive at this location below near the top of the map.
Use Purify on the vines blocking entrance, then make your way up the staircase (use Reveal on the submerged statue first you want a legendary chest), then find the first Seal Fragment at the top of these stairs.
The final shard actually requires you to do a little bit of backtracking to the area near Shaw’s Church. Walk back up the stairs that let you to the Garden of Envy in the first place, then find the graveyard and follow the green light up some stairs until you find some vines you can purify at the location below.
Follow the stairs up and then claim the second Seal Fragment that’s jutting out of a rock.
With all three shards, you can now take on the Blood Gate and the Elder Gods: Set Challenge Mission within, which you should be level 16 at the very least for. You definitely want to have unlocked the Demonchylde suit for this one and equip its Heightened Senses passive, as it gives Charlie 1 resist each turn and also gives you a higher chance for your cards to be passive.
The fight itself is about as challenging as you’d expect considering the level required. Two of the big guys can absolute decimate your health and cause wounded and bleed, so try to focus on them first and foremost. Remember Charlie’s ability that allows her to mark enemies, meaning that they will refund a card play once defeated — very useful for dealing with the minions. If you’re aligned Light, Holy Burst is an absolute must here, as it allows you to deal out damage while healing your team, and any card with knockback is also highly recommended to clear out the minions and dole out damage to the elites, as well as any cards that increase heroism so you can use your environment. It might be a challenge, but defeating 16 enemies in four turns is your objective.
Once you’ve managed it, the gate will open and you can place the Moon Seal on the altar, just like before. You will be rewarded with Break, the ability you need to bring down all the fractured walls and large blockades you’ve no doubt encountered across The Abbey. You can travel south from Lilith’s Garden to break open a fractured wall and discover Misty Moors
