What is Word of Life Youth Camp?
Word of Life Youth Camp is a “non-denominational” residential Christian camp that has been used by families, social agencies and churches from all over Ontario for over 30 years.
What kind of things do you teach?
We teach the Bible as the holy and inspired Word of God. All of our teaching times are age appropriate and chosen based on the needs of the campers that attend our camp. Click here to see our statement of faith.
Where is the nearest professional health care facility?
We are fortunate enough to be located 13 minutes from both the Meaford and Owen Sound hospitals. Parents and guardians are always notified if their camper is brought to a hospital for professional care.
Who are your medical providers on staff?
Because of our close proximity to the professional health care facilities, we are not required to have an RN on our staff.
Our medical person on staff at the very minimum will have certification in CPR and First Aid.
Who administers my child’s medication while at camp?
Our medical staff person administers all medication and keeps records of everything that is administered.
On registration day, we obtain written consent from the guardian to administer Tylenol, Ibuprofen and Gravol when appropriately needed.
All medication must be handed in upon arrival at registration.
Do you cater to food allergies and special diets?
Yes, we do. Special arrangements for dietary needs can be accommodated if we are notified ahead of time.
What is the Snack Shack and how much money should I put toward it?
Campers can purchase snacks and other merchandise like t-shirts, hoodies, and Word of Life Quiet Time Diaries at the Snack Shack.
The Snack Shack is open every afternoon and most evenings. The typical amount put toward the Snack Shack is between $15 – $35. Parents can also place daily spending limits.
We strongly advise depositing spending money at registration. Each day the campers can go to the Snack Shack and purchase something from the money deposited to their tab.
Any remaining balance is returned on the last day of camp during checkout.
Where are you located?
We recommend using Google Maps as the most reliable GPS for finding our location. Our address is 617796 Grey Road 18, Owen Sound, Ontario, N4K 5W4.
Our campus is located just 15 minutes east of Owen Sound on Grey Road 18, and 2.5 hours northwest from Toronto. We are 3 km south of highway 26 on Grey Road 18.
From Highway 10/6 South, turn right at the lights in Rockford onto Grey Road 18. Follow the road to the end, then take a left up the hill. Word of Life will be on your left in 1.5km.
If you are coming from Highway 26 east, drive past Meaford, ON for about 15 minutes until you see the sign for Grey Road 18 on the left. Take a left turn and continue on Grey 18 for 3 km until you arrive at Word of Life on the right.

How can parents get in touch with campers?
Send your child(ren) mail by sending your letter to camp@wol.ca. Letters will be delivered at meal time.
How qualified are your counsellors?
Counselling is an important part of our program. Our counsellors are made up of college aged students from the Word of Life Bible Institute and trusted volunteers who undergo intensive training to best care for and invest in each camper.
How closely supervised are the campers?
Our counsellors are required to be with their campers 24/7. We have accountability measures in place to make sure this standard is upheld.
Do you give refunds if we come late or leave early?
There are no refunds for late arrivals or early withdrawals.
Is there a monthly payment option available?
Yes, there is. If you would like more information, please contact us.
Can we bring our own paintball guns/paint?
Campers may bring their own paintball guns if they can be set to our caliber of 275 feet per second; campers cannot bring their own paint. A paintball waiver needs to be signed by your parent in order to participate.
What are the cabin facilities like and what kind of bedding should I bring?
Campers sleep in dorm cabins that are equipped with bunk beds. It is suggested that each camper bring a sleeping bag and pillow. If this is not possible, sheets and blankets are suitable. The number of campers in each cabin depends upon the room assigned. There are a maximum of five campers to each counsellor.

History[edit]
In 1940, Word of Life Fellowship Bible Conference was founded by Jack Wyrtzen. [1] In 1941, he founded the Word of Life Camp Ministry, and in 1946 he purchased an island on Schroon Lake, New York, and opened Word of Life Camp in 1947. [2] By 2021, the ministry had camps, conference centers, Bible institutes, and church youth ministries in over 70 countries. [3]
Beliefs[edit]
According to their statement of faith, Word of Life adheres to the teachings of biblical inerrancy, scriptural authority, the Deity of Christ, the bodily Resurrection of Christ, the triunity of God, the total depravity of man, and salvation by grace through faith alone.[4] Word of Life also adheres largely to dispensational theology.

Proclaiming the Gospel
We do believe in the importance of Good News of salvation which is given to every human being through the Lord Jesus Christ. The gospel is proclaimed not only through words, but also through the lifestyle of every believer. We see it as our duty to preserve the power, purity, significance and soundness of the Gospel.
Faith teaching
For believers in Christ something bigger is important than just intellectual agreement with certain dogmas and principles of christian faith teaching. We believe that a christian must have personal faith in the written Word of God, he must try to live according to his faith and build live relationships with the Lord
Life in Spirit
The nature of the Lord is unchangeable and He still works in christians’ lives the same way as in the times of apostles. The guidance and leadership He provides through the Spirit who gives us power and grace for life and ministry, strengthens us in our infirmities, guides and leads us, sanctifies and comforts, heals and transforms.
Mission
We devote ourselves to the involvement and fulfillment of the Great Commandment of Jesus Christ, which is spoken to us in the Bible in Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark 16:15-18. We believe it is important to support missions, run humanitarian and social work, plant churches in our countries as well as abroad.
