A term I use. I often stay up much later than I should (At the time i’m writing this it is 6am and I have had no sleep since the night before.) I use it and am agreed with by other friends that stay up late.
Practically nocturnal, it means that people who stay up really late do so because they love staying awake through the night, thus saying for these people that night is the time when they do things most do in the day. It also mean that they may wish that everyone did what people normally do in day was done at night instead.

Idiom: night and day / (like) night and day
- all the time; continually
- used to describe a clear change or difference between two things
Notes: When using «night and day» to talk about striking differences, we can also use the expression, «day and night.» While the expressions can be used interchangeably, «day and night» is more frequently used to show that something got worse whereas «night and day» shows something got better.
When using these expressions to talk about differences, we often precede the expression with «like.»

So my question: Is the usage of ‘night and day” in the meaning of “completely different” popular, or still on the sideline? Because I don’t find it in any of Cambridge / Oxford / Merriam –Webster English Dictinoary.
