I am in search of a word that represents a place or a situation where opposites meet.
The nearest word that I can find for it is the word horizon which according to oxford dictionary means «The line at which the earth’s surface and the sky appear to meet». My concern here is that horizon signifies the place where they appear to meet, not the place where they actually meet.

Some days I’m less happy with www.dictionary.com than others. It calls «apposition» a noun, but then gives the following as the first definition.
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/apposition
1 the act of placing together or bringing into proximity; juxtaposition.
So, a noun is an act of placing. OK then. Anyway, how about apposition?

A point where two or more things come together is called a convergence.
The hills converged into a mountain range.
However, from your description in the comments, it sounds like you’re looking for the phrase come together. This would be much less formal than convergence, for example if used in advertising copy.
A place where fun and savings come together.

I think I understand what you are looking for. Aristotle, in his Nichomachean Ethics offers as a definition of the good “the mean between two extremes”. For example, he illustrates, courage is the mean between the extremes of cowardice and foolhardiness.
These, of course, are opposites. But ‘fun’ and ‘savings’ are not opposites in the way ‘cowardice’ and ‘foolhardiness’ are. The equivalent in relation to ‘savings’ would be (for example) ‘extravagance’ and ‘niggardliness’ or something like that. ‘Thrift’ might be the ‘happy medium’ between (say) extravagance/self-indulgence on the one hand and niggardliness/self-denial on the other hand.
Perhaps the best word for the mean between these and other extremes is balance.

The way Reverse Dictionary works is pretty simple. It simply looks through tonnes of dictionary definitions and grabs the ones that most closely match your search query. For example, if you type something like «longing for a time in the past», then the engine will return «nostalgia». The engine has indexed several million definitions so far, and at this stage it’s starting to give consistently good results (though it may return weird results sometimes). It acts a lot like a thesaurus except that it allows you to search with a definition, rather than a single word. So in a sense, this tool is a «search engine for words», or a sentence to word converter.
I made this tool after working on Related Words which is a very similar tool, except it uses a bunch of algorithms and multiple databases to find similar words to a search query. That project is closer to a thesaurus in the sense that it returns synonyms for a word (or short phrase) query, but it also returns many broadly related words that aren’t included in thesauri. So this project, Reverse Dictionary, is meant to go hand-in-hand with Related Words to act as a word-finding and brainstorming toolset. For those interested, I also developed Describing Words which helps you find adjectives and interesting descriptors for things (e.g. waves, sunsets, trees, etc.).
In case you didn’t notice, you can click on words in the search results and you’ll be presented with the definition of that word (if available). The definitions are sourced from the famous and open-source WordNet database, so a huge thanks to the many contributors for creating such an awesome free resource.
Special thanks to the contributors of the open-source code that was used in this project: Elastic Search, @HubSpot, WordNet, and @mongodb.
