Разбираемся, как предлоги of, about и for влияют на глагол care.

«My friend takes care of my cat when I’m away».

«Can you take care of this problem?»

«I wear a mask because I care about other people».

«A lot of people don’t care about quarantine rules». Don’t care about smth

«Let me take care of you», Тут про активное действие, поэтому take care of.

«I care about you»,

Care for — синоним take care of: заботиться о ком-то, делать так, чтобы человеку (или животному) было хорошо. Можно сказать «My friend cares for my cat while I’m away», а вот care about здесь совсем не подойдет.

We care for people who learn English.
