Столкнулась с тем, что большинство обзоров уже устарели, поэтому предлагаю свой ТОП-5 лучших бесплатных сервисов, с помощью которых можно создать облако слов онлайн. Для чистоты эксперимента тестировать будем на одном и том же тексте по журналистике.

Этот сервис умнее всего анализирует текст: он позволяет создать облако частотных слов текста, при этом приводя все слова к начальной форме. Это значит, вы не получите, например, в облаке кот, коту, кота и т.д., а посчитаются сразу все формы слова кот. Полученный набор слов можно настроить, например, убрать фамилии или цифры. Красивые цветовые палитры, минимум функций, отсутствие регистрации. Кроме русского поддерживаются другие языки. Главный минус — отсутствие более сложных форм облака.

Огромный плюс этого простого сервиса — настройка формы облака и возможность задать любой цвет. Из минусов — отсутствие нормализации текста и стоп-слов, из-за этого могут вылезать ненужности типа огромных местоимений и предлогов, а также отсутсвие возможности задать цветовую палитру, потому что в одном и том же оттенке облако смотрится скучновато.

Международный бесплатный сервис, много трафаретов и возможностей кастомизации шрифтов, цветов. Приятные палитры и стили. Из минусов — тоже не хватает приведения слов к начальной форме, далеко не все шрифты красивы для русского языка.

Обязательная регистрация и плата за базовые функции типа изменения цвета — сразу жирный минус. С другой стороны, встроенные трафареты и палитры неплохие. Возможности выбирать слова из текста я не нашла, поэтому довольно долго колдовала с разными формами, чтобы местоимения и особенно слово «это» не были такими огромными.

Старый добрый WordArt (в прошлом Тагул). Изменять можно вообще все: шрифт и размер каждого слова, формы, цвета, вообще все. Но готовьтесь к долгому и кропотливому труду в англоязычном и абсолютно не интуитивном интерфейсе. Главные плюсы: собственно обилие функций. Минусы — обязательная регистрация, если хочешь скачать результат, и на мой вкус устаревшие трафареты, как из 2000х.

Итоги: первые два сервсиса я бы однозначно рекомендовала для быстрой и симпатичной визуализации текста, например для занятий или презентации. Остальные сервисы с более сложным интерфейсом и обилием функций стоит рассмотреть, если вы создаете облако слов более основательно, например, для постера или кружки.

How to set up a word cloud?

1. First, get your text ready. Make sure you’re only pasting the part that you want to analyze,
   excluding all irrelevant data. For example, if you’re using the text from the HTML page,
   make sure you’re using plain text only, excluding all the HTML tags that you don’t want to be analyzed.
2. Then, type in or paste your text into the text field at the top of this page
3. Click on the ‘Generate word cloud’ button. You’ll see the word cloud with the
   most popular keywords in a bigger size and with a higher font-weight.
4. You can modify your topic cloud by adjusting the fonts and the colors of the background, and
   the words.

How does a word cloud work?

The word cloud offers a list of unique words or phrases found in several sententces.
Awario’s word cloud software highlights the isolated words as well as 2- and 3-word phrases.
The word cloud displays only words and phrases used more than once. If all the words in your text
are unique, the topic cloud won’t be generated.

Can I make a custom-shaped word cloud?

It’s not possible to create custom-shaped word clouds at the moment, but we plan on changing
this in the upcoming versions of this tool.

Can I edit the word cloud?

Yes, you can modify the appearance of the interactive word cloud generator — the font and its
color, as well as the background color.

Is the word cloud available through your API?

Awario offers the Insights method in its API that gives access to the
word cloud. However, it differs from what you get with the free word cloud maker on this page.

Moving onto my next pick is WordCloudMaker which offers up a limited, but powerful set of features. While this tool does lack many of the settings as my above picks, I find their shapes and layouts to be their defining benefit.

As for the customization of the tool, you can adjust the type of font, size, rotation, the gap between words, opacity, and shapes. Unfortunately, I was only able to insert 5 words maximum, instead of pasting in an entire document or pasting in a link.

Where this tool really shines though are in their unique shapes. Unlike others on this list, they are beautifully laid out and multicolored which is great for making engaging word bubbles/ clouds.

When using this tool, you simply paste in the text, set the word limit, then it does its magic. From there, you can adjust various orientations and angles of words to every degree.

Unfortunately, there are no particular shapes to choose from or colors, which may make this tool somewhat limiting for some. But for those that need something quick, this is a great option.

Last but not least on my list is the Vizzlo word cloud generator. While this tool has great potential, I was quite let down as there are many paywalls. These include having to upgrade to change shapes and also for removing the watermark which was a little annoying.

Editors note: Wordle confusion

Wordle was previously a word cloud tool favored by many but is no longer in use. We’d offer you a link but the site is dead.

It is also common to see word clouds being seeded from a lower case wordle. Sort of the molecule that makes up a word cloud, though that terminology is fading.

To make matters worse, it is now most well known as a highly popular daily word-matching game. It’s highly addicitve and not in the least bit related to word clouds, other than also including words.
