Word art not printing

Hello. I just changed computers due to a defect in my old computer that I
had for one month. In the old computer, Word Art would print just fine in my
documents. Now I have my new computer and I installed the same Word 2002
exactly the same way that I installed it on the old computer. I changed no
settings on the old computer nor the new computer so I expected no issues at
all. Now the new computer will not print word art in the document.
Everything else in the document prints fine (text, clip art, etc.) but word
art is missing. I checked for drivers and updates for my printer because I
guess its possible for new updates to come within a month but found I still
had the latest and greatest updates and drivers. I checked for updates on
the printer because the word art displays in print preview which means word
thinks that it’s printing the word art, right? I checked background images
box to make sure that it was checked and it was, so I even unchecked it and
tried to print again. Same issue. I’m using Vista. Any help with this
issue will be greatly appreciated as I’m kind of on a time crunch with the
document that I need. Thank you.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | Print tab | check the «Drawing
objects» box | OK.

Just followed your path and the drawing objects was already checked. still
will not print word art.

Does the wordart appear in Print Preview? If yes, then Word thinks it
is printing the wordart, even if it isn’t coming out of your printer,
and it’s probably a printer driver issue.

I read other advice you gave and checked all that before I asked for help. It
does appear in preveiw, I checked HP site and I do have the latest driver.
Now remember, I had the same printer with my old computer and the document
printed fine. So I feel good about ruling out the printer.

I’m having the same problem with an HP Inkjet 1200dn and Vista workstations.
Our print server is Windows 2003 and the driver and firmware for the printer
are up to date. Anyone found a solution to this? Like the previous poster,
in Print Preview the graphics do appear yet they are not printed.

WordArt printing problem

WordArt printing problem

(OP)

7 Feb 06 14:57

I am trying to resolve a problem on a P4 with 512MB RAM and Win XP.  When producing a document in Word 2000 SR1 and adding WordArt, the document prints OK except for the WordArt element.  This happens on existing documents that have previously printed correctly as well as on new documents.  Other graphics such as clipart, jpeg’s, etc. all print OK in a Word Document.  The Wordart also does not appear in the print preview.  No other program has any other issue even with big jpeg’s so I dont think its a memory problem.

Recent changes to the PC are the addition of a DVD writer, Roxio Easy Media Creator and Photoshop Elements.  Uninstalling both programs did not resolve the issue.  The problem documents printed OK on another computer.  The printer is an HP Officejet 7110 which has the latest drivers.  I have cleaned up the computer and ensured that there is no Spyware on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I was ready to deploy Office 2007 in our school, but have come accross a
problem when printing WordArt and Clip Art in Word 2007.

It doesn’t matter if the children had created a document in word 2003 or if
I create a document in Word 2007; both ways having WordArt at the top, and
some Clip Art at the side of the main body of text; the WordArt doesn’t print
and not all Clip Art gets printed.

I have tested this with 2 different colour printers.

Can anybody shed some light on why this might be happening?

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the resonse. These are the steps taken.

1. Start a new document.
2. Add a title in WordArt.
3. Add the main body of text in the default font.
4. Add 5-7 Clip Art to the right and underneath the main body of text.
5. Set Clip Art Text Wrapping to In Front of Text.
6. Print the Document.

Do you have some specific repro steps that allow us to create a document

Hi Andy,

The steps you listed are a bit general (can be done in a couple of ways) and I didn’t run into the problem with Word 2007 gold
(final) when printing to several laser and inkjet printers, PDF and MS Office Document Image Writer.

What version of Windows and what are the printer models and driver versions you’re using?

If you start Word in Office safe mode (hold ctrl key while starting Word) do you get the same result repeating the steps you used
previously?

Is this on a test computer where you have run Setup.exe or a computer you deployed Office 2007 on? If the latter, how did you
deploy Office to the computer?

Was there any pre-release(beta) version of the Office apps on this computer?

Office Software Thread, Publisher 2010 not printing word art, clip art or text boxes in colour in Technical; Hi,

    Hi,

We have a load of students who have created brochures in Publisher. We have an HP 2025 colour laser and no matter what we try we can’t get it to print word art, clip art or text boxes in colour. They only ever print in greyscale. Any image that isn’t clip art prints perfectly.

We are using Windows 7 and have an HP Universal PLC6 driver as there are no specific drivers for the 2025. Does this sound like a driver issue or is there something in Publisher causing the problem?

The brochures are part of their GCSE coursework so we need to find a solution.

    Thanks.

We don’t use Publisher 2010, but unlike Word, printing options are usually set in Publisher itself (File, Page Setup, Printer and Paper), rather than in the print dialogue boxes at the printing stage, and these settings overide the options set in the print dialogue boxes (if that makes sense).

You may also find that the student’s Publisher files have been set for a printer other than your HP 2025, (perhaps a B&W printer), in which case this will need to be changed from the files concerned.

Now, there is an option in PCL6 (on the ‘Color’ tab) to ‘Print in grayscale’. I suspect this option has been selected at some point; possibly to save wasted colour copies whilst drafting. You will need to check the various dialogue boxes outlined above to see if and where this has been set.

    I hope this helps.

In the printers properties on the colour tab, what setting is it on? automatic, colour or black and white? also is it the same image, colour box every time in black and white, and from the same machine, ive had something similar where removing the image, and placing it back worked.

    Hi,

It seems as though it was a printer problem where it was set to auto on the colour tab. Once forced to colour it did start printing the brochures in colour. The odd thing though was this only happened with the Office programs. If I printed from picture viewer or Photoshop the prints were in colour!

Thanks for your replies and help.

Oh well, I am pleased you found an answer.

I don’t know if it is just me, but printing seems to be more complicated by the day. Oh for the days of the Laserjet 2.

lol!! Well I’m never convinced with these ‘universal’ drivers. Why not just make a driver dedicated for the specific printer!?

Have you ever tried to install an HP printer from the list in Windoze? There are thousands of the dammed things, so I can see why HP is reluctant to support every single one with its own driver, especially when the gubbins inside the printers is probably near enough identical.

I have found the HP PCL 6 Universal drivers work OK, but the PCL 5 universal drivers never seem to recognise device properly, and so cannot be configured for additional trays, duplexing and so forth.

Having said that, I am currently having great difficulties installing x86 print drivers onto 2008 R2 (to support printers on Xp clients). I can select the option for x86 drivers, and it asks for the driver files, but then rejects anything that I offer it, saying that x86 drivers are not compatible.

You need to install the x64 version first, then the same equivalent x86 version of the driver.

Back on topic, as others have said, this is a driver related issue — mostly likely a configuration issue. Publisher 2010 does support printing in colour, just as other Office 2010 applications do.
