How to use «Here and there» in context?

I remember when my family and I would go on road trips. Every time we’d pack our bags, the first thing my mom would do was to make sure we had enough snacks and drinks. She was always concerned about making sure we had enough to keep us going, no matter where we were.

Nowadays, I often travel for work. Unlike when I was a kid, I no longer have my parents to go with me. I have to travel alone or with a small group of people. This can be either a blessing or a curse, depending on how you look at it.
