My little brother is a real troublemaker. Every morning he has a toothache because he doesn’t want lo go to school. If he says he has a sore finger, be sure that he has a test that day! When he starts doing his homework, he always has got a cough or a toothache. ‘Го stay at home when his classmates sing at the concert he says he has a sore throat or a stomachache. But he always feels fine when it is ihe lime to watch TV or lo play computer games!
Moй маленький брат вечно создаст проблемы. Каждое утро у него болит зуб, потому что он не хочет идти в школу. People
in the Legal System: Civil Cases
A civil
case begins with a plaintiff. He or she has a complaint
about the actions of another person or organization. The plaintiff
files the complaint with a court.
The person
or organization accused of a wrongdoing is the defendant.
Both
the plaintiff and the defendant usually have attorneys.
The
attorneys speak on behalf of their clients. A paralegal,
a person with legal training, may assist the attorney.
In some
cases, a jury
listens
to arguments for and against the defendant. Then they decide on a
verdict.
Finally, the judge
makes
a decision to resolve the complaint.
