[i:] — долгий звук И: tree [triː], free [friː]
[ɔː] — долгий звук О: door [dɔː], more [mɔː]
[æ] — звук Э. Произносится широко: cat [kæt], lamp [læmp]
[ʌ] — краткий звук А: cup [kʌp], but [bʌt]
[a:] — долгий звук А: car [kɑː], mark [mɑːk]
[ɒ] — краткий звук О: box [bɒks], dog [dɔg]
Дифтонги — это комбинации звуков, состоящие из двух гласных, произносятся всегда слитно. Расмотрим произношение дифтонгов:
[ɪə] — ИЭ: here [hɪə], near [nɪə]
[eə] — Ээ: fair [feə], bear [beə]
[əʊ] — ЭУ (ОУ): go[gəʊ], no[nəʊ]
[aʊ] — АУ: how[haʊ], now [naʊ]
[ʊə] — УЭ: sure [ʃuə], tourist [‘tuərɪst]
[eɪ] — ЭЙ: make [meɪk], day [deɪ]
[aɪ] — АЙ: my [maɪ], bike [baɪk]
[ɔɪ] — ОЙ: : boy [bɔɪ], toy [tɔɪ]
Расмотрим согласные звуки. Глухие и звонкие согласные легко запомнить, так как каждый из них имеет пару:
Глухие согласные звуки: | Звонкие согласные звуки: |
---|---|
[ p ] — звук П: pen [pen], pet [pet] | [ b ] — звук Б: big [bɪg], boot [buːt] |
[ f ] — звук Ф: flag [flæg], fat [fæt] | [ v ] — звук В: vet [vet], van [væn] |
[ t ] — звук Т: tree [triː], toy [tɔɪ] | [ d ] — звук Д: day [deɪ], dog [dɒg] |
[ s ] — звук С: sit [sɪt], sun [sʌn] | [ z ] — звук З: zoo [zu:], zero [ˈzɪroʊ] |
[ ʃ ] — звук Ш: shelf [ʃelf], brush [brʌʃ] | [ ʒ ] — звук Ж: vision [‘vɪʒ(ə)n], decision [dɪ’sɪʒn] |

Остальные согласные:
[h] — звук X: hat [hæt], home [həum]
[m] — звук M: make [meɪk], meet [miːt]
[n] — английский звук Н: nose [nəuz], net [net]
[ŋ] — звук, напоминающий Н, но произносится через нос: song [sɒŋ], long [lɒŋ]

hotel — [həu’tel]
police — [pə’liːs]
interesting — [‘ɪntrəstɪŋ]
Когда слово длинное, многосложное, то в нем может быть два ударения, причем одно верхнее (основное), а второе — нижнее. Нижнее ударение обозначается знаком, похожим на запятую, и произносится слабее, чем верхнее:
information — [ˌɪnfə’meɪʃ(ə)n]
disadvantage — [ˌdɪsəd’vɑːntɪʤ]
Читая транскрипцию, вы можете заметить, что некоторые звуки представлены в круглых скобках (). Это значит, что звук может читаться в слове, а можно его не произносить. Обычно в скобках можно встретить нейтральный звук [ə], звук [r] в конце слова и некоторый другие:
information — [ˌɪnfə’meɪʃ(ə)n]
teacher — [‘tiːʧə(r)]
К некоторым словам даётся два варианта произношения:
forehead [‘fɔrɪd] или [‘fɔːhed]
Monday [‘mʌndeɪ] или [‘mʌndɪ]
В таком случае, выбирайте тот вариант, который вам больше по душе, но помните, что данное слово может произноситься и по-другому.
Много слов в английском языке имеют два варианта произношения (и, соответственно, транскрипции): в британском варианте английского и в американском варианте. В этой ситуации заучивайте то произношение, которое соответствует варианту языка, который вы изучаете, старайтесь не смешивать в своей речи слова из British English и American English:
schedule — [‘ʃedjuːl] (BrE) / [‘skeʤuːl] (AmE)
neither — [‘naɪðə] (BrE) / [ˈniːðə] (AmE)

What Is Phonetic Transcription?
Phonetic transcription is the visual representation of speech sounds. It is usually written in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), in which each English sound has its own symbol. Phonetic transcription is usually given in brackets /ˈɪŋ.ɡlɪʃ / or in square brackets [ˈɪŋ.ɡlɪʃ ]. Each sound in transcription is written separately.
Why Is Phonetic Transcription Important?
Phonetic transcription is very important because it helps to pronounce words correctly. It’s necessary, especially for the English language. As you know, the same English letter or combinations of letters can be pronounced and read differently in different words. Of course, there are reading rules in English but there are a lot of exceptions too. The spelling of an English word does not always tell you how to pronounce or read this word. But if you can read phonetic transcription, you’ll be able to pronounce any English word correctly without listening to its audio pronunciation. This Myefe.com’s tool will help to find out transcription online and read English words without mistakes.
Why Should You Care about Correct Pronunciation?
Pronunciation is important for English learners. It helps to communicate in English. If your pronunciation is incorrect, you can be misunderstood by other people or it will be difficult for them to understand what you want to say. On Myefe.com you can practise your English pronunciation online by listening how to pronounce English words correctly.

demonstration [ ˌdemənˈstreiʃn ] — демонстрация
Примеры транскрипции
Так же, как и отдельные знаки, транскрибированные слова заключаются в квадратные скобки. По типу ударения транскрипции слов можно разделить на три группы:
- односложные, где ставить знак ударения нет необходимости:
desk [ desk ] — парта |
bad [ bæd ] — плохой |
- слова с одинарным ударением:
public [ ˈpʌblik ] — общедоступный |
entire [ inˈtaiə ] — весь, целый |
- слова с двойным ударением, одно из которых называют слабым, а другое — сильным:
population [ ˌpɒpjəˈleiʃn ] — население |
accidental [ ˌæksiˈdentl ] — случайный |
В транскрипции можно записывать целые фразы, в этом случае в произношении слов могут происходить некоторые изменения.
In the text [ in ðə tekst ] — В тексте |
Is this a pencil? [ iz ðis ə pensl ] — Это карандаш? |
teach Tim to ski [ ti:tʃ tim tə ski: ] — научи Тима кататься на лыжах |
