The last word returns

Video Link

Okay, so not exactly.

Some of you may remember the bamboozle switcharoo I pulled a few years back with the Sleeper and I decided to give recreating the D2 UI a shot with less nefarious purposes. It turned out to be a lot more work than I expected but I’m pretty happy with the results!

Everything on the video (minus the weapon and some of the perk icons) from the UI to the linework in the background had to completely remade from scratch. Most of this was done in Photoshop with the linework being recreated in Illustrator and then taken to Photoshop to grunge up a bit. From there I transferred all the layers to After Effects and animated most of the motion by hand (except the weapon where I realized I could use AE’s built-in motion tracking).

Total time spent was somewhere around 20 hours with most of the time being spent learning how to animate everything nicely in After Effects since I’m still fairly new to the program. Please feel free to post any critiques or things I messed up on, helps me get better at what I do!

Destiny 2 Black Armory_01

Bungie’s next DLC for Destiny 2 is out tomorrow with Black Armory. Investigating a secretive faction that builds some rather sick weapons, players will embark on quests to reignite the Lost Forges. Some of the weapons can be seen in the latest trailer. Check it out below.

First is Izanagi’s Burden, a sword-like sniper rifle that multiplies your damage upon consuming a full clip (one-shot body shots in Crucible, ahoy). Then there’s Le Monarque, a bow that spawns poison clouds on precision kills. Legendary weapons also abound throughout the trailer, but some of the coolest stuff seems to be Exotic, like the Jotunn, a fusion rifle which ignites the ground with explosive shots.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Destiny 2 DLC without a returning Destiny 1 Exotic. Near the end of the trailer, The Last Word is showcased, with the Exotic quest to obtain the same going live on January 29th, 2019. What’s changed with it? We’ll find out next month – in the meantime, Destiny 2: Black Armory is out on December 4th for Xbox One, PC, and PS4.

Amazing Articles You Might Want To Check Out!

Exotics are some of Destiny’s most powerful items. It doesn’t take a genius to know just how viable the Gjallarhorn is when destroying bosses, or how much the Vex Mythoclast used to melt people in the Crucible. Still, while Destiny 2’s meta has undergone some changes, long-time fans are still looking for the return of an age-old favorite. The Last Word, returning from the previous game, will be obtainable when Destiny 2’s weekly reset happens tomorrow and the exotic quest “The Draw” goes live. Check out the trailer below:

Fans Of Fan Fire

The reason The Last Word has become a fan favorite is partly that of its viability in Crucible matches. Players loved their hand cannons, and they loved them, even more, when they deleted opponents in a split-second. That’s what The Last Word did in combat due to its Fan Fire perk which allowed it to fire rapidly. It became a go-to weapon since it was nigh unbeatable in short to mid-range engagements, and an effective shotgun counter. As you can see in the trailer above, The Last Word’s capabilities are shown in action. We’re hoping that you don’t end up with potato teammates like those.

The Last Word also became a favorite due to the lore surrounding it. It once belonged to the Guardian Shin Malphur. Malphur hunted down corrupted Guardians. One of these was Callum Sol whose backstory is explained during a mission to obtain the Malfeasance exotic in Destiny 2. Yet, perhaps, Malphur had no greater rival than Dredgen Yor — the owner of the Thorn. Towards the end of the trailer, you’ll even see a hint of those familiar bullets and the faceoff between hero and villain. Thorn will be made available later in March during the Season of the Drifter and the Joker’s Wild DLC.

Who knows, maybe The Last Word would be tied to the revival of a certain character who might eventually become a new Hunter vanguard? In any case, we’re hoping that “The Draw” exotic quest to obtain The Last Word isn’t some time-gated activity that takes weeks to complete like the Thunderlord. For now, just check out The Last Word in action in Destiny 1. Here’s YouTube user Arc TJX getting 52 kills in Firebase Delphi:

right to it:

I have a words string which has two words in it, and i need to return the last word. They are seperated by a » «. How do i do this?

function test(words) {

var n = words.indexOf(" ");
var res = words.substring(n+1,-1);
return res;

}

I’ve been told to use indexOf and substring but it’s not required. Anyone have an easy way to do this? (with or without indexOf and substring)

Try this:

you can use words with n word length.

example:

  words = "Hello World";
  words = "One Hello World";
  words = "Two Hello World";
  words = "Three Hello World";

All will return same value: «World»

function test(words) {
    var n = words.split(" ");
    return n[n.length - 1];

}

You could also:

words.split(" ").pop();

Just chaining the result (array) of the split function and popping the last element would do the trick in just one line :)

var data = "Welcome to Stack Overflow";
console.log(data.split(" ").splice(-1));

Output

[ 'Overflow' ]

This works even if there is no space in the original string, so you can straight away get the element like this

var data = "WelcometoStackOverflow";
console.log(data.split(" ").splice(-1)[0]);

Output

WelcometoStackOverflow

You want the last word, which suggests lastIndexOf may be more efficient for you than indexOf. Further, slice is also a method available to Strings.

var str = 'foo bar fizz buzz';
str.slice(
    str.lastIndexOf(' ') + 1
); // "buzz"

See this jsperf from 2011 showing the split vs indexOf + slice vs indexOf + substring and this perf which shows lastIndexOf is about the same efficiency as indexOf, it mostly depends on how long until the match happens.

To complete Jyoti Prakash, you could add multiple separators (s|,) to split your string (via this post)

Example:

function lastWord(words) {
  var n = words.split(/[s,]+/) ;
  return n[n.length - 1];
}

Note: regex s means whitespace characters : A space character, A tab character, A carriage return character, A new line character, A vertical tab character, A form feed character

snippet

var wordsA = "Hello Worlda"; // tab
var wordsB = "One HellonWorldb";
var wordsC = "Two,Hello,Worldc";
var wordsD = "Three Hello Worldd";

function lastWord(words) {
  var n = words.split(/[s,]+/);
  return n[n.length - 1];
}

$('#A').html( lastWord(wordsA) );
$('#B').html( lastWord(wordsB) );
$('#C').html( lastWord(wordsC) );
$('#D').html( lastWord(wordsD) );
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/2.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
A:<span id="A"></span><br/>
B:<span id="B"></span><br/>
C:<span id="C"></span><br/>
D:<span id="D"></span><br/>

Adding from the accepted answer, if the input string is "Hello World " (note the extra space at the end), it will return ''. The code below should anticipate in case user fat-fingered " ":

var lastWord= function(str) {
  if (str.trim() === ""){
    return 0;
  } else {
    var splitStr = str.split(' ');
    splitStr = splitStr.filter(lengthFilter);
    return splitStr[splitStr.length - 1];
  }
};

var lengthFilter = function(str){
    return str.length >= 1;
};

Easiest way is to use slice method:-

For example:-

let words = "hello world";
let res = words.slice(6,13);
console.log(res);

According to me the easiest way is:

lastName.trim().split(" ").slice(-1)

It will give the last word in a phrase, even if there are trailing spaces.
I used it to show the last name initials. I hope it works for you too.

Use split()

function lastword(words){
 array = words.split(' ');

 return array[1]
}

Its pretty straight forward.
You have got two words separated by space.
Lets break the string into array using split() method.
Now your array has two elements with indices 0 and 1.
Alert the element with index 1.

var str="abc def";
var arr=str.split(" ");
alert(arr[1]);
