Brands as Acts of Leadership

For the first time ever in 2022, the average brand value of a Best Global Brand has reached over US$3 trillion. The overall value of the Top 100 brands has reached US$3,088,930m, a 16% rise from 2021 (US$2,667,524m). This year sees the fastest rate of brand value growth ever recorded, demonstrating the growing contribution a company’s brand has in driving its economic success. While financial markets have shown significant swings over the last few years, the value of the world’s strongest brands have steadily increased driving customer choice, loyalty and margins.

In the top ten brands we see exponential growth and the emergence of a ‘super league’. Built on a foundation of exceptional experiences and strong integrity, these companies can move in multiple directions, growing their share of customers’ lives, along with their brand value and market cap.

Its increasingly difficult to fit the Top Ten into categories (what do Apple and Google do?), but things become much clearer when taking the perspective of customer jobs to be done (what aspects of consumers lives they address). Apple helps us Connect, Do, Belong, Play, Pay and – more recently – Thrive. Rumour has it that soon it may help us Move, too. Google helps us get many jobs done, like Learn, Connect, Move – and even Dwell. Nike – not a FAANG – helps us Thrive and Express ourselves. We can think along the same lines for the likes of Microsoft or Disney.

Ultimately, these organisations are building businesses around their brand (in contrast to the traditional approach of building brand around a product) – and it’s setting them apart from the rest of the pack.

The Making of Top 30 Fashion Brands In 2023

Top 100 Most Valuable Fashion Brands in the world 2022

Compared to the top 100 fashion brands of 2022, there are a lot of changes in 2023.

The year 2019 ended on a note of optimism for the coming decade in fashion, showcasing growing interest in innovative fashion designers from fashion capitals of the world.

Asia was booming again, luxury was rising, and a new wave of sustainable clothing brands was emerging fast.

2020 put a further damper on the optimism, as few in the fashion industry imagined what would come next: wildfires ravaged Australia, geopolitical tensions escalated, and then COVID-19 put the world on lockdown, changing life beyond recognition.

In response to the virus, retailers lost hope, fashion buyers were confined to their homes, and Asia was grounded to a halt, resulting in a sharp drop in fashion demand.

There were no longer glamorous events, concerts, social occasions, and holidays; fashion purchases slowly started to dry up.

Above all, the COVID-19 lockdown disrupted most fashion brands’ sourcing of raw materials, manufacturing, logistics, and retail operations.

Compared to the previous year, the Top 100 fashion brands – presented at the top of the article – show a revenue drop in 2021-2022.

It is also interesting to see some of the largest fashion brands, such as Adidas, Levi’s, ZARA, and Uniqlo, missing the top 30 POPULAR fashion brands of 2023.

However, just like many luxury clothing brands missing the top – Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Louboutin, Vera Wang, Jimmy Choo, Christian Audigier, and Ralph Lauren – these brands are expected to influence the ranks in 2023.

Other high-end designers that missed the top just a bit and are worth mentioning are Michael Kors, Hugo Boss, Tory Burch, Phoebe Philo, Marc Jacobs, and Paul Smith.

Lyst Index Brand Popularity Ranking

Lyst’s algorithm analyses e-commerce websites, online fashion shops, social media platforms, and online reviews for terms such as hottest, popular, recognized, best, and loved regarding clothing brands and companies.

These terms are then used as additional judging criteria components in their ‘Top Fashion Brands’ ranking index system together.

Last but not least, the ranking algorithm considers the shopping behavior of over 150 million online buyers, sales figures from over 18,000 designers and clothing stores, Google analytics, and other worldwide statistics.

After years of managing hundreds of fashion brands from London’s office of a global retailer, Mandy has ventured into freelancing. Connected with several fashion retailers and media platforms in the US, Australia, and the UK, Mandy uses her expertise to consult for emerging fashion brands create top-notch content as an editorial strategist for several online publications.

The first thing brands do when they come into creation is stack themselves up against their peers. In order to figure out if they’re successful or elite, they use competing brands as a measuring stick.

Two people on platforms of different height.

This article will serve as a guide to show you the types of things the best brands of the world are doing, and how you can use that information to increase your own brand’s success.

How does a brand become one of the best of the world?

You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford

If someone were so inclined, they could create a checklist of all the things the best brands of the world would need to qualify. That level of extensiveness is unnecessary in this case, but there are some common traits worth mentioning.

One important aspect is value and revenue. These are two of the strongest indicators of whether or not a brand is great. Brands in the tech industry have a higher chance of making the list, since their chances of revenue and value growth are currently very high.

Someone writing a checklist.

That means brands can’t always influence whether they become one of the best brands of the world. Sometimes it’s just about being in the right industry. However, certain things like adherence to brand values, structuring of goals, creative marketing campaigns and more give your brand a serious shot at success.

Remember, even though I offered some things that help brands stand out, there’s really no guarantee that doing certain tasks correctly will boost your brand to the top level. However, following best practices for branding will certainly boost your brand at least some , even if only a bit.

To further these points, let’s take a look at some examples of brands that do things right.

The following nine examples will give you an idea of what the best brands are and how they’ve grown to such heights. These are certainly not the only fantastic brands out there, but they act as a good example for brands to learn from.

I chose these nine brands based on certain criteria, including the concepts I mentioned above. The following brands are thriving financially and are highly-recognizable compared to their industry peers.

1. Apple

An Apple store.

Apple is a brand that creates computers, smartphones and other electronics, while also selling different technological services. It is a highly popular brand that is noted for their effective ad campaigns and simple, one-size-fits all products that cater to the technologically savvy as well as the beginner.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Apple has immense brand value and continues to see financial growth. Being in the tech industry, as I pointed out earlier, is also an advantage. The tech industry is booming and has been for some time, so certain brands are reaping the rewards.

Apple has always been able to take existing products or ideas and develop something more accessible to the general public. Finally, Apple’s commitment to marketing and creativity has elevated them above competitors, keeping their brand image strong for years.

2. Google

The Google logo on an electric sign.

Google is a tech company that provides internet services such as advertising and software. It is most known for its search engine, which continues to be more effective and popular than any other engine by far. Lesser-known Google products include different tech products, including hardware and hardware-related services.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Google has shined almost since its inception, growing its value considerably for years. It is in the tech industry at the right time, making it valuable as well.

Google’s brand recognition is massive, and has joined the ‘club’ of brands who replace the name given to a verb by most people. For example, we now say, “I’m going to Google that” instead of “I’m going to search for that”.

3. Amazon

An Amazon logo on a box.

Before internet shopping was popular, Amazon existed to sell books, offering a much wider selection than any local bookstore or library. Through the years, it started selling furniture, electronics, food/beverages and more. Shopping at Amazon has become much more convenient than going to a brick-and-mortar store, since they have their own delivery service and the checkout process is a breeze.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Amazon has revolutionized shopping, and they’ve done so with a priority and focus on meeting customers’ need for convenience. The reason they’re so highly valued is they continue to grow, both in the types of goods they sell, but also in acquiring other brands and bringing their products and services onto the platform.

4. Microsoft

A Microsoft building.

Microsoft is a tech brand that sells computer software and personal computers. They are most known for their Windows system, which is the default in most personal computers today. Another standout Microsoft product are their tools in the Suite package, such as Word and Excel.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Microsoft has its hooks in the computer world. It’s hard to go to the store and purchase a computer without getting some type of Microsoft system or software package.

5. Facebook

The Facebook logo on a smartphone.

Facebook is a social media brand that changed the way people interact drastically. The Facebook website gives friends and former acquaintances a chance to connect and share ideas with ease. Facebook has grown its brand through the creation of helpful tools such as Messenger, and through the acquisition of other popular social media platforms such as Instagram.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Facebook created a product and then expanded it, allowing users to connect from anywhere, with different devices. For Facebook, the business model of their service and its convenience has helped them thrive, even throughout controversies. The idea of switching to a different social media platform is more inconvenient than it sounds, and it’s unlikely you would find a realistic alternative.

6. Disney

A Disney store.

Disney is an entertainment business that specializes in creating content for television, while also building successful theme parks and resorts. The Disney television network is ever-expanding, as they’ve added things like ESPN and the Disney streaming platform to their lineup. Disney is an iconic brand that seems to always be at the top of whatever market they enter.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Disney is one of the most recognizable brands, and there is a level of quality people expect from the brand. For example, when people are looking for a movie that their kids will enjoy, settling on a Disney film is usually their best option. It has continued to grow in value, as it expands by acquiring different media brands.

7. McDonald’s

A McDonald's street sign.

McDonald’s is a restaurant franchise that has global locations and an extremely recognizable likeness. It continues to grow and thrive due to its ability to offer convenient services and products and adapting to the changing landscape of diet and nutrition from culture to culture.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: McDonald’s, unlike other food franchises, has grown itself into something bigger by catering to more markets and expanding to as many places as possible. Their marketing is unique and effective, and they have prioritized kids in their campaigns to make it easier for a family to choose their brand over others.

8. Coca Cola

A Coca-Cola sign on a building.

The Coca-Cola brand is responsible for the product Coca-Cola, which is a flavored soft drink that is extremely popular around the world. It has gotten deals with all types of companies and industries for its products to be sold exclusively inside them (including McDonald’s). They have a very memorable font and color scheme and their marketing draws on holiday cheer to sell more products.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Coca-Cola has been able to compete with all comers in the soft drink industry, as it is willing to adapt to changing markets. We see this in the alternate flavors they offer, like cherry and vanilla coke, as well as their continued expansion into different types of drinks, such as sports drinks and energy drinks.

9. Tesla

A picture of Tesla vehicles.

Tesla is an innovative brand that sells electric vehicles that are unique and changing the way roads function. They also sell solar products. Tesla is always making headlines, as it is committed to being first in the frontier for electric vehicles, as well as other new ideas for automobiles.

Why it’s considered one of the best brands of the world: Tesla ran with an idea to change the way people drive, and they’ve not only been successful at it, they’ve completely revolutionized the way people think of the future of automobiles. The name Tesla is iconic, not just in the way it is linked to cars, but in the way it is linked to the future.

Applying these principles to your own brand

Now that you’re aware of some of the best brands and why they’re thriving, let’s dive into how you can take what they’re doing and emulate it.

You probably noticed some common denominators in the examples above: most of them are in the tech and food and beverage industries. It’s just a reality that brands in some industries are in a better position to succeed. Don’t despair if you’re not in those same industries. Instead, use the lessons from what the great brands in those industries do well to improve your own brand.

Someone following an arrow on the ground.

Know that someday an industry may overtake another, so stay on the lookout for common principles that have accelerated these movements in the past. For example, Amazon was once inferior to physical retail brands, but their innovative shopping methods eventually overcame this inferiority. Seek out ways to differentiate in your own industry as well.

Another criteria in the evaluation of best brands is their revenue. Of course, you can’t directly control revenue and brand value, but there are of course things you can do to influence it.

Research how brands succeed through different customer interactions and marketing campaigns. Then see how this stands out next to their competitors. This type of analysis gives you a chance to succeed.

The future of your brand

At the end of the day, focus your efforts on keeping your brand relevant in its market. The beautiful thing about successful brands is that it’s easy to see what they’re doing right.

Stay on the lookout for emerging trends, and remain diligent with your awareness of the best brands of the world.

What comes to mind when you come across the image of an apple bitten on the side? Or the curvy “M” in yellow over a red background? It’s definitely Apple and McDonald’s. Most top brands in the world can be easily recognized by their logo. These brands are notable for not just building international brands but also for their impact on their various industries around the world. The following are some of the brands that, against all odds, have emerged as international brands. I will like to point out that they were not arranged in any particular order, so do not assume one is greater than the other. Also, there are thousands of brands in the world today, therefore, these are not the only ones that are doing exceptionally well. Alright, let’s check them out;

#1. Coca-cola

It goes without saying that Coca-Cola is one of the top international brands in the world. It is an American global beverage company that has been around since 1892 and is best known for making Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola also makes and sells alcoholic drinks and a wide range of concentrates and syrups for non-alcoholic drinks. Presently, the brand’s stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). You will also see it in the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (S&P 500), and the S&P 100 Index.

Brief History Of The Coca-cola Brand

Atlanta pharmacist John Stith Pemberton made a revolutionary syrup in the spring of 1886. Frank M. Robinson, Pemberton’s bookkeeper, suggested the name Coca-Cola because he thought the two C’s would look good in advertisements. In 1889, the recipe and brand were sold for $2,300 to Asa Griggs Candler. It was he who formed the Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta in 1892. Since its start in 1889, the company has used franchises to get its products to customers. Most of what the company makes is syrup concentrate. This is then sent to bottlers with exclusive territories all over the world. Coca-Cola Refreshments is the company’s most important bottler in the Americas, and it runs the company.

Brands Of The World: Coca-Cola Logo

Even though the Coca-Cola brand logo has changed many times, they all share one thing. That is the font and the color. The familiar red and white color scheme that has become part of our cultural lexicon is rich with symbolism. The color red is associated with dominance, passion, and vigor. This suggests that color alone is a powerful trigger for impulse purchases. The white, flowing cursive type makes me think of a bygone time and makes me feel sad and nostalgic.

Robinson’s first attempt at making the company’s logo was to use a lot of complicated Spencerian scripts. This was simply to make the new name look more dramatic.

#2. Apple

You can’t possibly make a list of the brands in the world without mentioning Apple. Apple is not merely a company; it is a global phenomenon. Given that Apple is the largest corporation on the planet, it’s logical for it to be first on our list of the brands of the world. On April 1, 1976, college dropouts Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak launched Apple Computers, Inc. with a mission to revolutionize the personal computer industry. To everyone, it was more than a vision because the company still stands on the underlying principles or fundamental foundation the founders laid: creative technological innovation. Apple’s success around the world is probably due to the fact that its customers have a wide range of iOS devices.

Top Brands Of The World: Apple Logo

The present logo of one of the top brands in the world, Apple, is the image of an iconic apple that was bitten by Steve Jobs. As always, the bitten apple emblem has been the subject of numerous speculations. One group claims that the apple’s bite represents a data byte. Another group believes it is the biblical account of Eve eating from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden. The Apple logo is one of the most well-known in the world, and the company’s products are just as unique as the logo.

Steve Jobs, the company’s founder, is largely responsible for the way Apple is known today. Originally, the logo was the same bitten apple that is used now, but it was rendered in a spectrum of colors rather than a single, dark hue. Apple’s current monochrome logo first appeared in 1998 and has contributed to the company’s reputation for simplicity.

#3. Amazon

Next on our list of top brands in the world is Amazon.com, Inc. Amazon is an e-commerce, cloud computing, online advertising, digital streaming, and AI multinational technology firm. As “one of the most significant economic and cultural forces on the globe,” it is also one of the most valuable brands in the world. There are many different types of online stores, but the most well-known is undoubtedly Amazon.com. They mostly sell both Amazon-branded items and those from other, smaller merchants. Amazon’s extensive selection and reliable support are its primary selling points. Customers are loyal to the company because they know they can always meet their needs and get fast, reliable service. Amazon Prime is an example of a service that helps customers save time and money.

Brands Of The World: Amazon Logo

Amazon’s current logo is simply the wordmark in all lowercase letters with a smooth and bright yellow arrow, starting at the word “A” and ending at the letter “Z.” However, the yellow arrow underneath the brand’s name forms a smile beneath the text.

The “.com” used to be part of Amazon’s logo, but it was taken out when the company started to do business in places other than the internet. The original logo included the letter “A” distorted to resemble a river. The company chose the current logo with the yellow line in 1998, suggesting that they sell everything from “A to Z.”

#4. McDonald

McDonald’s brand is a treat brand. If you’re in the mood to reward yourself, McDonald’s is the place to go; you’ll receive more than you bargained for. McDonald’s is a household burger and fast food name, so it’s only normal to include it on the list of top brands in the world. McDonald’s serves more than just hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and fries; you may also get chicken, fish, fruit salads, and even salads at some locations. Big Macs and French fries are probably their two most well-known licensed items.

In 1940, Richard and Maurice McDonald opened the first McDonald’s in San Bernardino, California. This was the beginning of what would become a global fast-food empire known as McDonald’s Corporation. As of 2021, McDonald’s will have more than 40,000 locations in more than 100 countries, making it the world’s largest restaurant chain in terms of sales.

Brands Of The World: McDonald’s Logo

The brand’s current logo is an “M” made up of two arches that are rendered in yellow and put on a red square background with rounded edges. The “M” appears clean and neat, sitting comfortably in its stylish curve. The golden arches that represent McDonald’s “M” have come to represent the universal concept of fast food. Those arches now stand for much more than just fast food; they’ve come to represent a particular aspect of Americana and popular culture as a whole. There is no pencil outline or lettering to be found. It’s sleek and contemporary, which is fitting given the company’s history, and likely to bring a smile to the faces of people all across the world.

Since its start, the brand has undergone a few redesigns but has always stuck to the same basic idea. One of the first ideas for the restaurant was for two golden arches to fly over the building in an “M” shape.

#5. Samsung

Fifth on our list of the top brands in the world is the Samsung Group. The headquarters of the Samsung Group, a global company, are in Samsung Town, Seoul. It is the largest South Korean conglomerate and consists of multiple related businesses. All these are unified under the Samsung brand (business conglomerate). To put it another way, as of 2020, Samsung will be the tenth most valuable brand in the world.

The South Korean company had a hard time figuring out who it was because it entered a market that was already dominated by Sony. Sony had been there since 1946 and therefore had a lot of power. Nevertheless, it broke through its competitors and is now one of the top brands in the world. By hiring some of the smartest people in their fields, the company has built a name for itself by coming up with new ideas and technologies.

Brands of the World: Samsung Logo

Samsung’s current logo debuted in 2005. It is simply the spelling of the brand’s name in blue. The font is one of a kind. However, it has some things in common with DDT Cond SemiBold and Helvetica Black. When you look at a printed character, you’ll see that it has no serifs and sharp corners. Moreover, the letter “A” appears without the horizontal stroke.

Generally, Samsung’s brand is built on a desire for simplicity. The company’s logo shows how committed it is to moving forward toward its stated goals. We can see how the brand’s guiding principle of making high-quality goods accessible to all is put into practice.

#6. Nike

Nike is the largest athletic footwear, gear, and equipment manufacturer in the world. The brand is a household name around the globe. Which is primarily why it made it to our list of the top brands in the world. When Blue Ribbon Sports was acquired in 1971, the name was changed to Nike to honor the Greek goddess of victory.

The swoosh that Nike uses as its logo is one of the most recognizable symbols in the history of advertising and helps make Nike the most valuable fashion brand in the world. It stands to reason that it would be included among the best-known brands in the world. This company is well-known not just for its sneakers but also for its team uniforms.

Brands Of The World: Nike Logo

The “Swoosh” is the logo for Nike, and it is one of the best-known and most successful symbols of the 20th century. The swoosh logo comes in many different colors, but no matter what color it is, it always looks sleek, strong, and powerful. The Nike swoosh represents the wing of Nike, the Ancient Greek goddess of triumph, from whom the company takes its name.

The first Nike swoosh was created in 1971 by a former pupil of Nike co-founder Phil Knight. Carolyn Davidson, the designer, was paid $35 for the design, which took more than 17 hours to develop.

Nike was the Greek goddess of victory, and Davidson based the design of the logo on one of her wings. According to Greek mythology, the goddess Nike inspired many courageous fighters to victory in combat. Legend has it that the warriors who wore Nike’s wings felt inspired and fearless as they marched into battle. The designer had to come up with a way to show movement and make the shoes stand out from their main competitor, Adidas.

Meaning Of The Nike Logo

The curve of the Nike logo and the white space around it are meant to make you feel like you’re moving, and the design works so well that you can almost hear and feel it. Its simplicity gives the impression that the brand is quick and agile, and it can be used for all of the brand’s products.

#7. Pepsi

In the world of cola beverages, or rather, brands, the Pepsi brand’s name must be part of the list. Pepsi is also an international brand that is recognized across the continent. Pepsi is one of the few brands in the world that has always gone against the odds when it comes to keeping its brand identity the same over time. It’s time for a little history class. Caleb Bradham started the Pepsi brand in 1893. It used to be called Brad’s Drink.

In 1898, Brad’s Drink was rebranded as Pepsi-Cola. Many people believe the name was derived from the medical term for indigestion, dyspepsia.

The Brands Of The World: Pepsi Logo

In 1903, Caleb Bradham, the founder of the company, made the first script logo for the Pepsi brand. There have been 12 major rebrandings of the Pepsi logo over the past century. Although the history of the iconic Pepsi Globe can be traced back to the 1940s, the current design, created by Arnell Group, did not debut until 2008–2009. The company’s current logo, which was made in 2014, is one of the simplest logos it has ever had.

The white swirl inside the sphere gives the logo the look of a smile. While the red, white, and dark blue colors look great together. The letters are in lowercase, while the “E” of the unique sans-serif typeface is styled after the white wave found in the famous emblem. According to Twitter’s design director, the interlocking rings symbolize the networks, interests, and ideas that can be formed when people of similar backgrounds and perspectives come together. Even after all of the changes that have been made to the corporation over the years, the current logo, which adheres to the golden ratio, is still instantly recognizable.

#8. Microsoft

Office and Windows are two of Microsoft’s subsidiary brands, yet neither has the worldwide reputation of the parent company. Microsoft was started by Gates and his childhood friend Paul Allen in 1975. It is a well-known company because it helped make the personal computer era possible.

Office and Windows are two of Microsoft’s subsidiary brands, yet neither has the worldwide reputation of the parent company. Microsoft, co-founded by Gates and his childhood friend Paul Allen in 1975, is a household name. This is because of its role in ushering in the era of the personal computer.

Brands Of The World: Microsoft Logo

Currently, the Microsoft logo is a combination of words and an image. There are four multicolored squares that are neatly arranged. These four multi-colored squares make up a bigger square. Also, the four squares in a bigger square stand for the company’s most popular products: Bing, Windows, Xbox, and Office. Each letter is as sleek, slim, and gray as the others. The alignment of the letters “f” and “t” was the only punctuation. They’re linked together with swoopy horizontal lines. The Microsoft logo was first used in ads for Windows 95, and since 2009, it has been on emblems for the Microsoft Store.

The letters are equally smooth, thin, and gray. The only accent was the alignment between “f” and “t.” They are connected by horizontal strokes.

Meaning Of Microsoft Logo

There is a wide range of people represented in the Microsoft logo. The logo shows how much the company has to offer, how it works with others to solve problems, and that its customers come from all over the world. Products from the behemoth can be used at the office and at home.

#9. Adidas

Adidas is a German company that produces a wide variety of sportswear, including footwear. For a brand that has designed the uniforms of most sports teams, it’s natural for it to be one of the top brands in the world. In terms of shoemaking. Adidas is considered to be among the top in the industry. According to statistics, the company dominated the European sportswear market in the early 21st century, and it was the world’s number-two sportswear producer overall. It makes sense that a product with a name that means class, confidence, and indestructibility would be one of the best brands in the world.

Brands Of The World: Addidas Logo

The Adidas logo is in the shape of a triangle, and its three broad stripes of varying lengths are designed to symbolize the three stages an athlete goes through as he or she develops and achieves peak performance. The triangle itself has long been seen as a symbol of harmony and completeness.

The company’s logo is often credited as the original minimalist corporate logo. The iconic Adidas three-stripe logo has become a cultural phenomenon.

In the 1950s, Adi Dassler, the firm’s founder, purchased the trademark for the three-stripe design from a Finnish manufacturer. In 1949, when Dassler was trying to design a logo that would be easily recognizable on the field of play, he used these symbols on the company’s footwear for the first time. Even though it looks simple, this design became so closely linked to the company that Dassler called it “the three-stripe company.”

Meaning Of Adidas Logo

The story behind the design is easy to figure out at a glance: the stripes look like mountains. The goal is to encourage and motivate customers to maximize their potential.

#10. Facebook

Next on our list of the top brands in the world is Facebook. Facebook was started in 2004 by a college student who wanted to help people connect with each other and the rest of the world in a meaningful way. I still think Facebook is the brain behind community platforms or apps like Reddit and Discord.

Presently, the website, which was founded in a college dorm room as a small, local venture, has grown into the global powerhouse of social media that it is today.

Brands Of The World: Facebook Logo

Mike Buzzard of the Cuban Council helped Mark Zuckerberg and Sean Parker change Facebook’s logo as the company grew from a campus networking site to a social media platform used all over the world.

Mike Buzzard of the Cuban Council helped Mark Zuckerberg and Sean Parker change Facebook’s logo as the company grew from a campus networking site to a social media platform used all over the world. Aside from representing the name of the platform, the emblem has no unofficial significance. We could also say that the Facebook logo, which is made up of white lowercase letters on a calm blue background, is simple and clean.

#11. Twitter

Twitter, owned by the American firm Twitter, Inc., is a microblogging and social networking service where users submit and respond to messages called “tweets.” Unregistered users can only read public tweets. However, registered users can also post new tweets, like existing ones, and retweet others. Users can access Twitter either through a web browser or mobile app that acts as a front end or through APIs that allow for automated use.

Twitter was developed in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams, and it first went live in July of the same year. More than 25 international locations supplement Twitter’s main office in San Francisco. Through 2012, the service had processed an average of 1.6 billion daily search queries and 340 million tweets from more than 100 million users. It was one of the top 10 most-visited sites in 2013, earning the nickname “SMS of the Internet.”

Brands of The World: Twitter Logo

Twitter’s current logo, a bluebird silhouette, was apparently inspired by a hummingbird. Larry is a fictional employee of the corporation. The designer and developer used pieces of 15 circles stacked on top of each other to get the right size.

Since its humble beginnings as “twttr,” its platform’s distinctive emblem has come a long way. Up until 2010, when Martin Grasser made some changes, the logo looked exactly as it does now. The current logo, based on his concept, has a hummingbird with fifteen circles.

Meaning of the Twitter Logo

This present Twitter logo is the “ultimate expression of freedom, hope, and boundless opportunity.” Overall, the platform sent the message that being simple may be a sign of success.

#12. Google

I often wonder if Google’s competitors will ever be able to catch up to this company. Google has to be on every list of top brands list in the world; you can’t help yourself. Many of us think of the internet and other ways to do research online when we hear this name. Google isn’t just part of the brands of the world list, it is a legacy.

Google LLC is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Mountain View, California. It focuses on search engine technology, online advertising, cloud computing, computer software, quantum computing, online commerce, artificial intelligence, and consumer electronics. In light of its market dominance, data collection, and technological advantages in the area of artificial intelligence, it has been called “the most powerful firm in the world” and is one of the world’s most valuable brands. As one of the most well-known businesses in the world, Google enjoys the best reputation of any firm in the United States.

Brands of the World: Google Logo

Google logo, which is the word “Google” in blue, red, yellow, and green, has been changed a few times. According to Google’s design blog, the slanted “e” at the end of the logo serves as a gentle reminder that the corporation will always have a touch of an atypical approach. Google also develops special logos called “Google Doodles.” This is always to commemorate special days or to honor an individual’s achievements on their birthday. These are always made special for the occasion.

In the beginning, Google used two different logos. When Google’s first logo was made in 1996, it was a red hand with the company name (BackRub) on it. After the company changed its name to Google, it made a new, simpler logo. It was just “Google” in a rainbow of colors.

#13. Disney

The Walt Disney Company, or simply Disney, is a media and entertainment giant based in Burbank, California. They operate under Disney’s name around the world. The Walt Disney Company was founded on October 16, 1923, as the Disney Brothers Studio. After that, it was called Walt Disney Studio and Walt Disney Productions before it got its current name in 1986. Since the company began, it has won a total of 135 Oscars, and Walt has won 26 of them by himself. In the early days of the corporation, when animated films were first being made, Disney carved out a niche for itself as a pioneer in the field thanks to the birth of its mascot, Mickey Mouse.

Disney, one of the largest and best-known corporations in the world, is placed at number 53 on the 2023 Fortune 500 list of the largest companies in the United States based on revenue.  People say that the organization not only changed the way theme parks work but also made some of the best movies ever made. Disney has been accused of taking ideas from other works, criticized for using racial stereotypes in the past, and both praised and criticized for including and not including LGBT-related elements in its movies.

Brands of the World: Disney Logo

The present Disney logo is a beautiful picture of towers, windows, balconies, and flags. It has an animated star that produces an arching trail of light above it. The castle represents love, magic, and a fairytale, while the celebratory fireworks cloud, represents the brand’s enchantment. The name “Walt Disney” appears beneath it.

Disney has grown from its early days as a brand based on Mickey Mouse’s popularity to buy a number of well-known and market-leading companies. Studios like Marvel (makers of the Marvel superhero movies), Lucas Films’ (makers of the Star Wars films), and Pixar (makers of Toy Story) are among these names.

How Do I Find the Brand Name of a Logo?

Do what is called “reverse image search” on Google. If a company’s logo appears online, then using “reverse image search” websites to look for similar logos online should take you to the company in question.

What is the Most Recognized Brand Logo in the World?

  • Coca-Cola
  • Apple
  • McDonald’s

Is Vector a Brand?

It depends on what you mean by vector. If you are referring to “Vector Marketing,” then it is a brand. On the other hand, a vector is a format for saving files.

Conclusion

In every industry, there are top brands within it. This simply means the above brands are not all there is when it comes to the top brands in the world. Furthermore, the preceding list was not compiled in any particular order, so do not assume that the last one is inferior to the brand.

The World’s Top 100 Most Valuable Brands in 2021

In 2020, the global economy experienced one of the worst declines since the Great Depression.

Yet, while the ripple effects of COVID-19 have thrown many businesses into disarray, some companies have not only managed to stay afloat amidst the chaos—they’ve thrived. Using data from Kantar BrandZ, this graphic looks at the top 100 most valuable brands of 2021.

Methodology

Each year, research group Kantar BrandZ ranks companies based on their “brand value,” which is measured by:

  1. A brand’s total financial value, which is the financial contribution that brand brings to its parent company ($ value).
  2. Multiplied by its proportional value, measured by the brands proportional impact on its parent company’s sales (% value).

The financial results are then combined with quantitative survey data, sourced from over 170,000 global consumers. The end result is a holistic look at a company’s brand equity, reputation, and ability to generate value.

The Leaderboard

The total value of 2021’s Top 100 brands grew by 42%, reaching a combined $7 trillion. At the top of the list, perhaps unsurprisingly, is Amazon, with a total brand value of $683 billion.

It’s the third consecutive year that Amazon has placed first on the list. Since last year’s ranking, the ecommerce brand has seen its value grow by 64%. Keep in mind, this accounts for all areas of Amazon’s business, including its web and subscription services.

Second on the list is Apple with a brand value of $612 billion. Apple wasn’t completely immune to the impacts of COVID-19—in the early days of the pandemic, its stock dipped almost 19% from record highs—but the company recovered and reported record-breaking revenue, generating $64.7 billion in Q4 2020.

It’s fitting that the top brands on the list are big tech companies since the pandemic pushed consumers online for both their shopping and entertainment needs. A few social media platforms placed high on the list as well, like Facebook, which rose two ranks this year to score the sixth spot with a brand value of $227 billion.

Instagram and TikTok trailed behind Facebook when it came to total brand value, but both platforms saw exceptional growth compared to last year’s report. In fact, when looking at brand value growth from 2020, both brands scored a spot in the top 10.

Insights into Brand Value Growth

The most valuable brand report has been ranking companies for over a decade, and some overarching factors have stood out as key contributors to brand value growth:

1. The Big Get Bigger

Starting “strong” can give brands an edge. This is because growth rate is closely correlated with high brand equity. In other words, a strong brand will likely see more growth than a weaker brand, which might explain why companies like Amazon and Apple have been able to hold their place at the top for several consecutive years.

Keep in mind, this doesn’t account for industry disruptors. An innovative company could come out of the woodwork next year and give the Big Tech giants a run for their money.

2. Marketing Makes a Difference

The right strategy can make a difference, and even smaller brands can make a splash if the message is impactful. Brands with emotional associations, like pride or popularity, tend to see that translate into brand value growth.

Companies like Nike and Coca-Cola have mastered the art of emotional advertising. For instance, in May last year, Nike released a video urging consumers to stand up for equality, in a video titled, “For Once, Just Don’t Do It.”

3. Smart Investment

It’s not just about developing an effective marketing strategy, it’s about executing that strategy, and continually investing in ways that perpetuate your brand message.

For instance, innovation is the core value of Tesla’s brand, and the electric car company walks the walk—in 2020, the company spent $1.5 billion on R&D.

March 13, 2023

In this article, we have collected the current information on the most valuable (richest) global brands as of March 13, 2023.

TOP 10 World's Most Valuable Brands in 2023

According to Wikipedia, the brand is a manufacturer’s mark and a trademark having a high reputation among consumers.

We should note that the concept of the brand is much narrower than that of a company;  a company may possess several brands, for example, Google is a brand, and Alphabet Inc. is the company owning that brand.

So, we suggest you have a look at this list and compare it with our list of the largest companies by market capitalization to see the difference.

Let’s get started.

Top 10 Most Valuable Brands in the World

Apple

Apple Inc

Industry: Electronics, information technology.
Products: Personal computers and tablets, mobile phones, audio players, and others.

Today, Apple is the most valuable brand in the world. Its value is estimated at $355 billion by rating agencies experts.

The company was established on 1 April 1976 by Steve Wozniak, Ronald Wayne, and Steve Jobs. The trio initially engaged in the assembly of home computers and the production of proprietary models of PC. But their greatest success came in recent years when Apple introduced its line of mobile products to the world — iPhone smartphones and iPad tablets.

Nowadays, the range of Apple products is very broad and includes smartwatches, computers and laptops, tablets, smartphones, and more. However, the hallmark of «apple» gadgets’ popularity is high quality, stylish design, and a brilliant marketing program by Steve Jobs.

Today the company has thousands of offices, brand stores, and service centers worldwide with a staff of nearly 147,000 employees.

An interesting fact: the modern «apple» logo, which is probably one of the most recognized nowadays, had undergone many changes before it became one of the world’s most famous.

The headquarter is located in Cupertino, California, USA.

Microsoft

microsoft brand

Industry: Software development.
Products: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Xbox.

The internationally famous Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates. At that time, Microsoft was the first software developer that suggested using packaged software for personal computers (PC) that would thereby make the PC experience user-friendly and intuitive. This software – the Windows operating system – was a real breakthrough since it allowed ordinary users to master PC skills easily. The system brought the company an incredible success and huge profits.

Today Microsoft is one of the leading companies in the PC software market as well. It releases the new-generation Windows operating systems, a set of applications to work with documents called Microsoft Office, and many other software programs. Besides, Microsoft produces its own mobile devices and accessories, video, audio, and office equipment and is currently at the top 3 of the most famous brands in the world.

The headquarter is in Redmond, Washington, USA.

Amazon

amazon inc

Industry: Retail business.

Amazon is the American biggest retail company selling and delivering various goods over the Internet.

Internet users, suppliers, and producers can sell any goods on their own by using Amazon’s website as an online platform. So, the company’s major business line is the sale of products. The popularity of the service soared due to high-quality goods, low prices, prompt delivery, and a wide assortment.

The company was established in 1994 by Jeff Bezos. Amazon is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.

According to overall estimations, the company employs over 1 million people and has more than $321 billion in assets. Its annual turnover amounts to approximately $458 billion, making it one of the most successful brands in the world.

Google

Google is the second richest brand in the world

Industry: Internet.

As it is the most used search engine on the internet, probably all users of the global network know Google. That is why the «Google» brand is one of the most expensive in the global ranking.

The experts estimate its value at $263 billion, which makes it the second most expensive brand in the world.

The company was established in 1993 by Sergey Brin and Larry Page. It provides the search service that processes billions of queries per day. Because of its advanced search engine, the Google creators managed to implement one of the most powerful advertising aggregates on the Internet, which generates the single largest share of the revenue for the company.

However, it is not the only product of the company. Alphabet Inc. constantly develops new projects. For example, Google currently releases mobile gadgets of its own making, creates software (e.g., Android OS) intended to work with them, and owns many popular Internet services such as YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Google AdWords and so on. So, it’s fair to say that with such a constant growth Google is one of the biggest brands in the world.

Headquarter is in Mountain View, California, USA.

Walmart

Walmart Supermarket

Industry: Retail business.
Products: Bakery food, beers, frozen uncooked food, meat, pharmaceuticals, seafood, and other goods.

Walmart is the largest chain of multiple retail stores offering goods for lower prices than average in the United States and Canada. It was founded by Sam Walton and is headquartered in Bentonville in the Northwestern part of the state of Arkansas.

Interestingly, Walmart has so far not managed to establish a delivery system as effective as that of, for example, Amazon.

However, sometimes the company brings original ideas to life. For example, buyers that agreed to deliver goods to their neighbors who purchased them online were offered a scheme of discounts in 2013.

Despite the first place in the ranking, Walmart has its shortcomings, among which are problems with expansion, competitive battle against Amazon, and frequent criticism from the customers.

However, those are far from being critical, given Walmart’s capitalization level and international influence.

According to many analysts experts, Walmart may “collapse” only under its “own weight”, due to its giant size. Nobody knows whether the giant with its archaic work process organization can quickly adapt to the rapidly changing market where you need to be ready 24/7 to readjust “your positions” promptly.

Facebook

facebook brand

Industry: Internet.
Products: Social network.

Facebook was developed by Mark Zuckerberg in February 2004. The Facebook social network is currently being visited by more than 2 billion people every day. The value of $70 billion is simply an astronomical indicator of the popularity and demand for an Internet project.

Today Facebook yields more than $38 billion net yearly profit thanks to online advertising.

The headquarter is in Menlo Park, California, USA.

Samsung

samsung group

Industry: Electronics.
Products: Electronics, household appliances, shipbuilding, aircraft engineering, finances, chemicals, and entertainment.

Samsung is globally known as a consumer electronics producer.

The company was established in South Korea in 1938. In 1969 Sanyo merged with Samsung, which gave birth to Samsung Group and changed the marketing approach and company’s mission.

In 1980, the first models of Samsung air conditioners appeared on the market. This was the beginning of the successful development in the European and Asian markets of climatic equipment.

In 1983, the Samsung company started the production of personal computers. By 1991-1992 the development of the first product line of mobile phones was completed. And in 1999, Samsung Electronics won the Forbes Global award in the category of consumer electronics manufacturing.

Nowadays, Samsung Group has plenty of lines for various kinds of products.

The company is headquartered in Suwon, the provincial capital of Gyeonggi-do, Republic of South Korea.

Coca-Cola

coca cola brand

Industry: Food industry.
Products: Non-alcoholic drinks.

Coca-Cola is the most famous worldwide carbonated soft drink that brings more than $8 billion in net profit for its company per year.

The famous beverage brand was established in 1886 and was first advertised as the «brain tonic». Today the company’s product suite also includes Fanta, Sprite, Diet Coke, and Schweppes.

Due to the large value of its assets, high profitability, a huge staff, and high profits, the value of the «Coca-Cola» brand is estimated at $88 billion.

The headquarter is located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

Toyota

toyota brand

Industry: automobile manufacturing.
Products: automobiles.

Toyota is a Japanese company founded in 1924 by Sakichi Toyoda. It is interesting that initially he didn’t even engage in the manufacturing of automobiles, but was producing weaving looms.

His son, Kiichiro Toyoda, took an interest in automobile manufacturing and established the division with the funds received from selling a patent on an intelligent production machine.

Global annual sales of Toyota cars almost reached $272 bln. in 2018. And, as car sales in Japan declined significantly, it is a testimony to the company’s activity in the global market.

The headquarter is in Toyota, Aichi, Japan.

brand Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz

Industry: automobile manufacturing.
Products: automobiles.

Mercedes-Benz is one of the most recognized automotive brands in the world. The German company was founded in 1926 through the merger of two main competitors. Since 2018, Mercedes-Benz has taken the second place in the ranking of car manufacturing companies.

How is the brand value estimated?

There are different ways to estimate brand value, but many of them are controversial. Everyone understands the concept of value in their manner, so estimation is generally subjective.

Popular methods and approaches to the estimation of the brand value are the following:

Total Costs. The brand is estimated based on the sum of all costs incurred to build the brand since its creation. Those may include advertising costs, costs for assets purchase, employee salaries, etc. After adjusting the annual values for inflation, the obtained sum shall stand for the real value of the brand.

Note that the resulting value will reflect only the cost of the brand creation, and the owners most likely will refuse to sell it for that price.

Market Value. This is the easiest method of estimation. We simply multiply the number of issued shares by their current market price. By the way, we have a list of  the most expensive shares in the world.

The drawback of this method is the following: stock prices change rather fast, the brand value drops significantly during a crisis and, on the contrary, an asset might be overvalued by investors.

Income. The essence of the method is that future net income, which is directly related to the brand, is calculated to estimate the value of the brand at the moment.

The methods described above generate raw information, so in this article, we have used data on value according to the online edition of Forbes.
