Albert Einstein – A Great Scientist from the Past

The person I admire the most is Albert Einstein. He was born on 14th March, 1879 in the German town of Ulm in Wurttemberg. Einstein was the greatest scientist of all time. One of his most famous discoveries is the mathematical equation about the nature of energy: E=mc2.
Einstein loved physics and learning. He never stopped exploring the world of science and he wrote many books and articles explaining his theories. Some of them are at the Institute of Advanced Study in Princeton.
People in universities all over the world respected Einstein. He was awarded with honorary degrees in science, medicine and philosophy. In 1921, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. Despite his intelligence, Einstein is also famous for being a very funny man!
I admire Albert Einstein for his love of learning and the fact that he discovered new things. He always kept his mind active.

An Ideal Young Man
I live in a big city in an apartment block. I also have a country house, where I 1 spend my weekends. I usually go to my country house by car. But once I 2 was travelling by train. I 3 was reading a book but soon got bored. At one of the stations a woman got into the train and took a seat next to me. She was about thirty-five years old. She 4 looked at me and smiled. We 5 started talking. The woman 6 told me that she had a husband and a son. “Does your son smoke?” I asked. “No, he 7 has never smoked,” answered the woman. “Good, tobacco is bad for one’s health,” I said. “Does your son come home late at night?” was my next question. “No, he 8 has never come home late at night,” answered the woman. Complex Object – сложное дополнение

Инфинитив образует сложное дополнение с местоимением в объектном падеже (me, you, him, her, us, them, it) или с существительным в общем падеже (John, my sister, our teacher etc.). На русский язык такая конструкция переводится придаточным предложением с союзами «что, чтобы».

Конструкция Complex object употребляется:

  • поле глаголов want, expect, would like — с инфинитивом с частицей to
  • после восприятия — see, hear, feel, notice, watch — с инфинитивом без частицы to или с причастием настоящего времени
  • после глаголов make и let — с инфинитивом без частицы to

A

Many adjectives end in -ing and -ed, for example: boring
and bored. Study this
example situation:

Jane has been doing the same
job for a very long time. Every day she does exactly the same thing again
and again. She doesn’t enjoy her job any more and would like to do
something different.

Jane’s job is boring.

Jane is bored (with her job).

Somebody is bored if something (or
somebody else) is boring.
Or, if something is boring,
it makes you bored. So:

Jane is bored because her job is boring.

Jane’s job is boring, so Jane is bored. (not Jane is boring)

If a person is boring, this means that they
make other people bored:

George always talks about the
same things. He’s really boring.

Compare adjectives ending in -ing and —ed:

In these examples, the —ing adjective tells you
about the job.

I’m bored with my job

I’m not interested in my job any more.

I get very tired doing my job.

I’m not satisfied with my job.
