Have your little one practice reading and drawing through these free preschool printable- Read and Draw CVC Words Worksheets!

I’m so happy that your child can now identify and sound out all the letters of the alphabet. And he can write them well, too!

It`s something to celebrate. Maybe a sweet treat? Or extra playtime? Whatever prize you have in mind, I`m sure your child deserves it.

After your little one is justly rewarded, it is time to level up his reading skills. And one way to do that is by checking his comprehension skills.

Remember that reading is not just about blending letter sounds and saying them out loud. Another equally important skill that goes with it is comprehension.

Your child should be able to understand what he has read, otherwise, his efforts are in vain.

The true test for reading is if your child can put a meaning to the words he has read.

If he reads the word cat, he should be able to picture a cute, furry, four-legged animal that makes meow sound (or whatever his mental picture of a cat is.)

Since reading comprehension is important, it then follows that this skill is present from Day 1.

That is why I made these CVC worksheets which your child can use to practice reading CVC words AND display comprehension by drawing.

These kindergarten worksheets are easy and straightforward to use. Not to mention fun!

Each page comes with four boxes. And there`s a CVC word in each box. 

All your child needs to do is read the CVC word and draw a picture based on what he has read.

It’s that simple!

You don’t need to ask questions to check for comprehension, you just look at the drawing. 🙂

And voila! Instant assessment. 

Another thing that I love about these CVC worksheets is that it fosters children`s creativity. They get free reign on how they`re going to draw and color their work.)

They can be as detailed as they want or they can also go for stick drawings- both are acceptable and appreciated.
