1. A passive form of the verb consists of a form of the verb be and a past participle (participle II). — Пассивная форма глагола состоит из формы глагола be и причастия прошедшего времени (причастие II).
2. We use the passive to move the focus of attention from the subject of an active sentence to the object. — Мы используем пассив, чтобы перенести внимание с подлежащего в действительном залоге на дополнение.
3. If we want to mention the agent, or the ‘doer’ of the action, we use the preposition by. — Если мы хотим упомянуть агента или «исполнителя» действия, мы используем предлог by.
