Ну как вам? А еще говорят, что русский язык — сложный! Вы посмотрите на английский: только разобрались с Present Tenses, а тут уже прошедшее время, да еще и четыре варианта. Как же это все запомнить? На самом деле все просто (simple).

Разберем каждую форму step by step, по этапам знакомства наших персонажей:

Past Simple
Знакомство — это однократное действие в прошлом, причем время точно известно. Указатели этого времени: … ago (… назад), last … (в прошлом…).

Past Continuous

Это обстоятельства встречи. Что происходило во время знакомства? We were working in an office (Мы оба работали в офисе).

Past Perfect
Это время используется для того, чтобы рассказать о том, что было до встречи. Например, перед тем как устроиться в офис, где героиня повстречала своего принца, она закончила университет (I had graduated from the university).

Past Perfect Continuous
Здесь мы тоже рассказываем о том, что было до встречи. Но тут речь не про разовые акции (закончила университет, переехала в другой город), а про длительные процессы. Так, наш герой уже работал в офисе на протяжении двух лет до встречи с девушкой (He had been working).

Приступим к упражнениям на закрепление времен группы Past Tenses: Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect, Past Perfect Continuous.

Упражнение 1  — Изучаем английскую грамматику с помощью хитов

Все просто: включаем известную на весь мир музыкальную композицию и просим студентов заполнить пропуски в тексте песни, поставив глагол в правильную форму. Например:

Упражнение 2 — Фантазируем на английском с помощью карточек

Упражнение 3 — Визуализируем английскую грамматику

Рисование — это отличный способ запомнить новые слова и грамматические конструкции. Почему бы учащимся в режиме реального времени не изображать то, что рассказывает учитель? Можно поберечь связки педагога и включить историю на Youtube. Пример истории, которую можно нарисовать:

Упражнение 4 — Играем в настольные игры на английском

Как отточить грамматику увлекательным способом? Сыграть в настольную игру. Делать это реально в офлайн и в онлайн-классе. Можно поискать готовые варианты, а можно сделать самостоятельно. Вот самый простой пример игры — змейка Past Simple. Ученики просто двигаются по полю, бросая кубик. Задача студентов — поставить глагол в правильную форму. Змейка опробована на десятках учеников — схема рабочая, поверьте.
