19 So Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel had been established as a prophet of the Lord. 21 Then the Lord appeared again in Shiloh. For the Lord revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the Lord. 1 Samuel 3:19-21 NKJV
This is at the end of the chapter where previously we learned of Samuel as the little boy hearing the voice of God when he was serving in the Temple with Eli. He heard the voice of God so clearly that he thought it was Eli. Now we see young adult Samuel and he clearly hears continually from God. Verse 19 says that God let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground. That means not one of the things Samuel spoke failed. If he spoke it, it came to pass. That does not mean that every idle word Samuel spoke, God acted upon. It means that Samuel was so in tune to God that he continually heard God just as clearly as he did as boy in the Temple, an audible voice of God. Since Samuel heard God that clearly, Samuel spoke the words of God and as He spoke the words of God, God could move through those words to bring them to pass.
Samuel was recognized by all of Israel as being a prophet of God, and all of Israel had witnessed that when Samuel speaks, what he speaks comes to pass. Then in verse 21 it says that the Lord appeared and revealed Himself to Samuel by the Word of the Lord. That is really helpful for our consideration. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He speaks to us through His Word, and so when we read the Bible we should expect to receive supernatural insight and revelation from the Holy Spirit as we read. God “reveals” Himself to us through the Word.
Both of these verses (19 and 21) remind us that there is power in the tongue and it is so important for us speak the Word. When we speak His Word, when we speak the promises of the Bible out loud in faith, He moves through those words spoken, His Words spoken by us, and not one of those words falls to the ground or fails to come to pass. If it was true for Samuel it is even more so for us today with the power and moving of the Holy Spirit.
Finally, consider exactly what is being said in that last verse. The Lord reveals Himself through the Word and He “appears” through our speaking the Word. Again, when we speak His Word in faith He appears. In other words, the kingdom of heaven, the spiritual realm realities appear and take the place of the physical realities. He appears when we speak the Word! When we speak the Word the evidence of the supernatural changes. It is the evidence of Him appearing in our lives, actively involved in powerful ways in our lives as we speak His Word in faith. It is a reminder to us to think about what we are speaking and to have the Word of God ever present on our tongues, ready to speak in our lives and over the lives of others.

Scriptures:
1st Samuel 3
3 Now the boy Samuel was ministering to the Lord in the presence of Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days; there was no frequent vision.
2 At that time Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see, was lying down in his own place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was.
4 Then the Lord called Samuel, and he said, “Here I am!” 5 and ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call; lie down again.” So he went and lay down.
6 And the Lord called again, “Samuel!” and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” But he said, “I did not call, my son; lie down again.” 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.
8 And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy.9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak,Lord, for your servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.” 11 Then the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.12 On that day I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 And I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God, and he did not restrain them. 14 Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.”
15 Samuel lay until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli. 16 But Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” And he said, “Here I am.” 17 And Eli said, “What was it that he told you? Do not hide it from me. May God do so to you and more also if you hide anything from me of all that he told you.” 18 So Samuel told him everything and hid nothing from him. And he said, “It is the Lord. Let him do what seems good to him.”
19 And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground. 20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established as a prophet of the Lord. 21 And the Lord appeared again at Shiloh, for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel at Shiloh by the word of the Lord.
1st Timothy 4:10-16
10 For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things. 12 Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. 14 Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. 15 Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. 16 Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.
