Name yourself in one word

One Word Usernames

Sometimes you might be on the lookout for a nice short username, made up of one word. We have 27,110 suggestions to choose from, ranging from 3 to 19 characters long.

The downside with these usernames is that a lot of them won’t be available on a lot of site since most common words were taken hundreds of years ago, before the advent of plastic, dinosaurs or individually wrapped cheese slices.

This is very similar to the word generator elsewhere on the site.

Still, one can but dream of finding that perfect username that for some strange reason is still available 😁

Username Generator

If you want to include a word of your own in the username suggestions to make the results more personal to you, you could try this username generator. You can enter a word of your choice, and then combine it with other random words to see what you end up with.

If you click on the Show Bells and Whistles option, there are a load of useful options, such as:

One real-world example

From one of the comments on Scott’s article:

“I was asked this very question in an interview.

I stammered, so he (the interviewer) revised it, “One *good* word”. I was still dumbfounded, so he revised it yet again, “One *good* word, one *bad* word.”

Smart. Ass.

Easy 🙂

I got the job.”

How you should describe yourself

If you’ve done your company research at any point before the interview, you should have an idea of what kinds of values they appreciate. Simply choose one that accurately describes you and run with it.

If you haven’t noticed any particular company values standing out, choose a favorite word from these 165 powerful personality adjectives, all of which are positive.

Recruiter Jeff Altman answers in more detail:

Your turn

Imagine if you were asked to do this test in conciseness in your next job interview. Without answering ‘unique’ or ‘interesting’ (too easy), how would you respond?

Go.

Tell us in the comments!
