While Todd Wilcox’ answer is true in the literal sense that Star Wars refers to the wars happening across the galaxy on planets and in outer space, it also refers to both a metaphorical (prominent heroes and villains) and metaphysical (power coming from elsewhere) definition.
Star Wars is an American epic space-opera media franchise created by
George Lucas. The franchise began with the eponymous 1977 film and
quickly became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon.
Star Wars, especially the Skywalker family Saga (Epsiodes I-IX) is about «iconic» Heroes and Villains who are featured in this particular story, as the story itself asks, what does «legacy» mean? What information can we pass on?
Epic films are a style of film-making with large scale, sweeping scope,
and spectacle. The usage of the term has shifted over time, sometimes
designating a film genre and at other times simply synonymous with
big-budget filmmaking. Like epics in the classical literary sense it
is often focused on a heroic character. An epic’s ambitious nature
helps to set it apart from other types of film such as the period
piece or adventure film.
To expound on that, because the work is also a «Fantasy Epic», there is also a metaphysical energy, The Force, that is believed to connect all life together, but some are born «Force Sensitive» and can tap into this energy and kinetically use it.
Star Wars features elements such as knighthood, chivalry, and
archetypes related to the fantasy genre. The Star Wars galaxy,
unlike science fiction that features sleek and futuristic settings, is
portrayed as dirty and grimy in Lucas’s concept of a «used
future». Lucas made a conscious effort to parallel scenes and
dialogue between films, and especially the journey of Anakin Skywalker
in the prequels with that of his son Luke. He has collectively
referred to the first six episodic films as «the tragedy of Darth
Vader,» and said that the theme of the saga is redemption.[196]The final scene in The Last Jedi depicts servant children playing with
a toy of Luke Skywalker, and one boy using the Force to grab a broom.
According to Inverse, this symbolizes that «the Force can be found in
people with humble beginnings.«
In the first two trilogies of the Skywalker Saga the general tenor of ‘good vs evil’ comes from light side and dark side «force users» referred to as the Jedi and Sith. The first trilogy sees the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker that is echoed in the downfall of the Republic and the Jedi Order, juxtaposing the rise of The Empire and birth of Darth Vader through the Sith Lord, Darth Sidious or Emperor Palpatine.
In the next trilogy the twin children of the Anakin Skywalker must attempt to restore order to the galaxy, as Anakin’s son Luke learns the ways of the fallen Jedi in order to confront his father, whose now a destructive Sith Lord.

«He’s taken himself out of the fight, he’s sitting on that island in
exile. I know the Luke I grew up with is not a coward, he’s not
sitting out there hiding, so I had to come up with a reason he was
there that was active and positive, and something I could genuinely
believe I could think in his shoes,» says Johnson. «And the thing that
came to me that seemed to make sense to me is this notion that he
seems this hero worship of him and of the Jedi that is detrimental to
the galaxy. The universe has put its faith in its false god of the
Jedi and they need to forget the religion so they can get back to god,
that light can rise from a worthier source. And because he’s the last
Jedi and a symbol of that, it then becomes this self-sacrifice he has
to do to take himself out of it when he knows his friends are dying,
when he knows the thing he’d like to do is get back in the fight. He’s
taken the weight of the world on his shoulders by taking himself out
of the equation so that the Jedi can die out. The end of the movie is
him embracing the part of the past that the present needs, which right
now is the legend of Luke Skywalker, they need something to believe
in, they need that action figure of Luke Skywalker to grab on to, that
inspiration to stare up at the stars and believe that you can be a
hero.»«I wanted Luke’s death to be peaceful, to be on his terms I wanted it
to be a victory. I wanted it to be that he’s done this huge grand act
that has restored the spark of hope to the galaxy. I’m hesitant to put
into words what he does in the end, but it is completed.»
In the last trilogy, the Republic was restored, but fell pray to the Empire turning into the New Order, where Darth Vader’s grandson, who claims not to be Sith, eventually comes to power leaning into the dark side. But it is his Uncle, Luke Skywalker’s legacy and his possible feelings for an outsider named Rey, that threatens the success of The New Order quashing the resistance once and for all, but Luke sacrifices himself and stories about his bravery and honor are spread across the galaxy inspiring a whole new generation of people to join nearly defeated resistance, aka the «Spark of Hope»! (We have to wait and see how the last episode plays out to know more.)

In addition, through out these works and in other works, including Star Wars Rebels, the notion of what The Force is and how one should use it (methodology/applied philosophy) is debated, but in many cases there is evidence that the Force does in fact exist and have a «will» and therefor there is an additional mysterious element of fate at work (some Force Users may be able to see the future), which gives Star Wars philosophical and/or spiritual meaning, as the Force is coming from within and beyond the self; a metaphorical definition playing on «stars» as in information coming from somewhere else, like from «God» or the «The Heavens»…

From Sony Animation comes a fun, new telling of the Nativity Story in The Star. The film follows a donkey who escapes from the mill and is taken in by newlyweds Mary and Joseph, and soon becomes torn between following his dream of joining the Royal Caravan and helping his new friends. Featuring the voice talents of Zachary Levi, Christopher Plummer, Kelly Clarkson, and Kristin Chenoweth, the film is fairly well cast. And, the animation style is pretty good; with some charming and cute character designs for the various animals that gives them personality. However the music is rather intrusive, really drawing attention to itself (pushing the soundtrack). Also, the message of the Nativity Story is a little watered down; but given that it’s aimed at kids, that’s somewhat to be expected. The Star isn’t perfect, but it’s an entertaining film that the whole family can enjoy.

In The Star, the latest production from Sony Pictures Animation (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Arthur Christmas), we are introduced to a sheep named Ruth (voiced by SNL’s Aidy Bryant) who has essentially defected from her flock because of the titular star, an unusually bright heavenly body that showed up around the same time the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary in Nazareth to inform her she was highly favored and would be carrying and raising the son of God. Ruth can’t help but to feel the appearance of this star is significant in a way she can’t describe or pinpoint, but rather it is something she inherently feels she can’t ignore. Ruth follows this feeling even when the rest of her flock continue to travel with their herd. This more or less makes Ruth the greatest embodiment of what true, genuine faith looks like in The Star and while this is a movie based around the nativity story in a way children might be able to more easily access it, this is the greatest virtue it has to offer. Admittedly, the idea of going against the grain, rebelling against the norm for the sake of something you truly believe in is something of a common theme in children’s entertainment so as to promote individuality (this is the arc played by our main character, a donkey named Bo (Steven Yeun), actually), but there is a difference in doing something out of desire or drive for the satisfaction of your own life and being able to give of your own life for a purpose you believe is greater than yourself and that is what comes to be the most evident about Ruth in The Star. Ruth exemplifies a selflessness in service of this unwavering faith in something that struck her upon seeing that star start shining in the sky; a feeling she can’t explain other than to describe the fact it stirs something inside of her. But faith has always been about not having the right answers, but rather a feeling. A hunch, really. It’s a hunch that there is something bigger connecting it all and connecting us all together. For Ruth, and eventually Bo and several other animals that bear witness to the events that take place in The Star that feeling, that hunch, turns out to be God.

For those who might be looking for some stories at least based on Christianity itself, The Star is something for you to see. Otherwise, all together what it makes is a huge forgettable movie that never attempts to shine to victory compared to the other movies.

A movie star (also known as a film star or cinema star) is an actor or actress who is famous for their starring, or leading, roles in movies.[1][2] The term is used for performers who are marketable stars as they become popular household names and whose names are used to promote movies, for example in trailers and posters.[3] The most prominent movie stars are known in the industry as bankable stars.

In the early days of silent movies, the names of the actors and actresses appearing in them were not publicized or credited because producers feared this would result in demands for higher salaries.[4] However, audience curiosity soon undermined this policy. By 1909, actresses such as Florence Lawrence and Mary Pickford were already widely recognized, although the public remained unaware of their names. Lawrence was referred to as the “Biograph Girl” because she worked for D. W. Griffith’s Biograph Studios, while Pickford was «Little Mary.» In 1910, Lawrence switched to the Independent Moving Pictures Company, began appearing under her own name, and was hailed as «America’s foremost moving picture star» in IMP literature.[4] Pickford began appearing under her own name in 1911.
The Independent Moving Pictures Company promoted their «picture personalities», including Florence Lawrence and King Baggot, by giving them billing, credits and a marquee. Promotion in advertising led to the release of stories about these personalities to newspapers and fan magazines as part of a strategy to build brand loyalty for their company’s actors and films. By the 1920s, Hollywood film company promoters had developed a «massive industrial enterprise» that «…peddled a new intangible—fame.»[5] Early Hollywood studios tightly controlled who was a movie star, as only they had the ability to place stars’ names above the title; according to film historian Jeanine Basinger, this was done «only for economic reasons».[6]
Hollywood «image makers» and promotional agents planted rumors, selectively released real or fictitious biographical information to the press, and used other gimmicks to create glamorous personas for actors. Publicists thus «created» the «enduring images» and public perceptions of screen legends such as James Dean, Judy Garland, Rock Hudson, Marilyn Monroe, and Grace Kelly. The development of this «star system» made fame «something that could be fabricated purposely, by the masters of the new ‘machinery of glory’.»[5] However, regardless of how «…strenuously the star and their media handlers and press agents may … try to ‘monitor’ and ‘shape’ it, the media and the public always play a substantial part in the image-making process.»[5] According to Madow, «fame is a ‘relational’ phenomenon, something that is conferred by others. A person can, within the limits of his natural talents, make himself strong or swift or learned. But he cannot, in this same sense, make himself famous, any more than he can make himself loved.»
Madow goes on to point out «fame is often conferred or withheld, just as love is, for reasons and on grounds other than ‘merit’.» According to Sofia Johansson the «canonical texts on stardom» include articles by Boorstin (1971), Alberoni (1972) and Dyer (1979) that examined the «representations of stars and on aspects of the Hollywood star system». Johansson writes that «more recent analyses within media and cultural studies (e.g. Gamson 1994; Marshall 1997; Giles 2000; Turner, Marshall and Bonner 2000; Rojek 2001; Turner 2004) have instead dealt with the idea of a pervasive, contemporary, ‘celebrity culture’.» In the analysis of the celebrity culture, «fame and its constituencies are conceived of as a broader social process, connected to widespread economic, political, technological and cultural developments.»[7]
In the 1980s and 1990s, entertainment companies began using stars for a range of publicity tactics including press releases, movie junkets, and community activities. These promotional efforts are targeted and designed using market research, to increase the predictability of success of their media ventures. In some cases, publicity agents may create “provocative advertisements” or make an outrageous public statement to trigger public controversy and thereby generate «free» news coverage.[5] Movie studios employed performers under long-term contracts. They developed a star system as a means of promoting and selling their movies. «Star vehicles» were filmed to display the particular talents and appeal of the most popular movie stars of the studio.

Egypt’s most famous movie stars include Youssef Wahbi, Fatima Rushdi, Leila Mourad, Anwar Wagdi, Naguib El-Rihani, Taheyya Kariokka, Ismail Yassine, Faten Hamama, Salah Zulfikar, Shadia, Soad Hosny, Nadia Lutfi, Ahmed Zaki, Nour El Sherif, Mervat Amin, Adel Emam, Naglaa Fathi, Mahmoud Yassin, Mona Zaki, Ahmed Ezz, Menna Shalabi, Ahmed El Sakka, Karim Abdel Aziz, and many more considered Egyptian Cinema movie stars.[8][9][10][11][12]

Movie stars enjoy considerable prominence in Asia. In Asian film industries, many movies often run on the weight of the star’s crowd pulling power more than any other intrinsic aspect of film making.

A number of Chinese film actors have become some of the most popular movie stars in Eastern Asia, and several are also well known in the Western world. They include Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun-fat, Stephen Chow, Sammo Hung, Gong Li, Ziyi Zhang, Maggie Cheung, and the late Bruce Lee.

The Indian film industry consists of various regional cinema industries. One regional cinema, the Hindi film industry, commonly known as Bollywood, has its own set of rules in this respect. There are often superstars in this region who command premium pay commensurate with their box office appeal.
Some mainstream Indian movie stars, like the Khans of Bollywood (Aamir Khan,[13] Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan,), Madhubala,[14] Raj Kapoor, Nargis,[15] Mithun Chakraborty,[16] Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai gained international fame across Asia[17][18][19] and Eastern Europe.[20][21] For example, Bollywood films were popular in the Soviet Union, more so than Hollywood films[22] and occasionally even domestic Soviet films.[23] Indian actors like Raj Kapoor, Nargis[24] and Mithun Chakroborty were household names in the Soviet Union,[16] with films such as Awaara (1951) and Disco Dancer (1982) drawing more than 60 million viewers in the country.[25][24] The Hindi film actors Raj Kapoor[26] and Aamir Khan also became very popular in China, with films such as Awaara, 3 Idiots (2009), and Dangal (2016),[13][26] one of the top 20 highest-grossing films in China.[27]

The film industry of the Malay Archipelago (also known as Nusantara) consists primarily of film industries which made the cinema of Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Singapore. Over the past century, these four cinemas have collaborated on a number of projects. A number of actors from this region have become some of the most sought-after movie stars in southeast Asia, commonly in Malay-speaking countries. Many of these movie star have acted in all four countries[citation needed]
In the Philippines their most recognizable thespian consisted of Nora Aunor, Joseph Estrada, Jose Padilla, Fernando Poe Sr., Fernando Poe Jr., Roy Marten, Rudy Fernandez, Dolphy, Palito, Ramon Zamora, among many more.[citation needed] Philippines first international celebrity and sole in the movie star category was Ernesto dela Cruz under the pseudonym Weng Weng, who in 1981 with his hit film the action comedy film For Your Height Only, became the world’s first and shortest leading man standing at 2 foot 9 while even with a short lived career the international success of the film hasn’t been topped locally.[28][29][30][31]

Take the word «toast» as a synonym for «dead,» like when someone says, «I’m toast.» Surprisingly, the first known use of «toast» in that way came from Bill Murray in «Ghostbusters» — and he came up with the line on the spot.

Toast

When Bill Murray uttered «All right, this chick is toast!» in 1984’s «Ghostbusters,» few knew he was making linguistic history.
But believe it or not, Murray’s line — delivered right before the film’s climactic showdown — is the first known instance of the word «toast» being used to mean dead, finished, or doomed.
That’s according to the Oxford English Dictionary, which directly cited the film as the source of the slang term. Green’s Dictionary of Slang also pegs the origins of «toast» to the 1980s.
Funnily enough, Murray’s famous line wasn’t even in the «Ghostbusters» script, which originally called for him to say, «I’m gonna turn this guy into toast.» Murray was said to have ad-libbed the line that eventually appeared in the film, and the change was significant:
«In our opinion, Murray’s alteration made all the difference. There’s a huge semantic gulf between ‘I’m gonna turn you into toast’ and ‘You’re toast,'» wrote the editors of the blog Grammarphobia.
Murray’s coinage spread like wildfire, and is so widespread today that it’s hard to believe it’s less than 35 years old.
My bad

«Clueless» introduced millions of viewers to Valley Girl slang, including gems like «As if!» and «Whatever.»
While both of those slang expressions enjoyed decades of documented use before «Clueless» came out in 1995, there’s another popular phrase whose popularity is even more closely tied to the film: «My bad.»
Despite its widespread popularity today, «my bad» was largely still a niche expression pre-«Clueless.» The earliest print citations for «My bad» are from as recently as 1985, according to linguist Ben Zimmer, and it was used primarily in the world of playground basketball. By the end of the decade, the phrase was still uncommon enough that sportswriters felt the need to explain its meaning in newspaper columns.
«After making a bad pass, instead of saying ‘my fault,’ Manute Bol says, ‘my bad.’ Now all the other Warriors say it too,» USA Today wrote in 1989.
While «Clueless» didn’t invent «my bad,» it was instrumental in bringing it into the mainstream, and provided many viewers with their first exposure to the phrase.
Bucket list

In 2007’s «The Bucket List,» two terminally ill strangers go to great lengths to fulfill each others’ greatest wishes before they die, or «kick the bucket.»
Many people incorrectly believe the phrase «bucket list» was in use before the film came out, but in reality, it was the film’s screenwriter Justin Zackham who invented the term back in 1999, when he wrote up his own bucket list, according to linguist Ben Zimmer.
«The film’s release brought the phrase into common parlance, and, as a testament to how natural and idiomatic it sounds, many people assume the term must have long predated the movie,» Zimmer wrote.
Once the phrase entered the English language, its meaning expanded to include a list of things to do before any deadline, such as the last day of school or the end of summer.
Gaslighting

Gaslighting is the act of manipulating someone into questioning their own sanity.
It comes from the 1938 play «Gas Light,» adapted into two successful movies in the 1940s. In «Gas Light,» a husband attempts to drive his wife crazy by insisting that the gaslights in their house did not flicker, when in reality they did.
The 1950s saw some instances in print of «giving someone the gaslight treatment,» and by the early 1960s, it was turned into the verb «gaslighting,» according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The term saw an uptick in usage around the 2016 presidential election, when Donald Trump and other high-profile Republicans were accused in several media outlets of gaslighting the public.
The dark side

The «Star Wars» franchise has given us countless quotes and references that are deeply ingrained in pop culture.
Linguistically speaking, we can thank the first «Star Wars» film for popularizing the phrase «the dark side» to refer to «the negative or troubled part of someone or something that is usually concealed,» as McGraw-Hill defines it. In the movie, Jedis are taught to resist the dark side of the Force.
In choosing the term, filmmaker George Lucas appeared to draw from elements of early Christianity, Taoism, and other religions that used light and darkness as a metaphor for good and evil.
Nowadays, just about everything can be described as having a dark side, like the music industry, social media, and the North Korean cheer squad.
Derp

1998’s «BASEketball» may not have been a cinematic masterpiece, but it did contribute one word to the English lexicon: «derp.»
«Derp» is defined by Oxford — yes, «derp» is in the dictionary — as «a substitute for speech regarded as meaningless or stupid» that can be used «to comment on a foolish or stupid action.»
The film, starring «South Park» creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, features the first known instance of «derp» in this somewhat raunchy scene.
In the years that followed, Parker and Stone wove «derp» into several episodes of «South Park,» but the word lay mostly dormant until around 2007, when it began popping up in online memes and internet comments, according to Know Your Meme.
«Peak derp,» as New York Magazine put it, seems to have been reached around 2013, when journalists from Business Insider’s Josh Barro to CNN’s Jake Tapper and The New York Times’ Paul Krugman all used variations of «derp» in columns and tweets.
The word has proved surprisingly versatile, functioning as an interjection, an adjective (derpy), a concrete noun (he’s a real derp), an abstract noun (the age of derp), and even a verb (derping it up).
Catfish

A catfish, in the modern sense, is «someone who pretends to be someone they’re not» on social media, «particularly to pursue deceptive online romances,» according to an Urban Dictionary entry.
The practice got its name from the 2010 documentary «Catfish,» in which a man slowly learns that the woman he fell in love with online has actually been using a fake identity.
At the end of the film, one of the characters shares a story that gave the film its name: Supposedly, when people shipped live cod from Alaska to China, they placed catfish in the vats alongside the cod to keep the fish moving and prevent them from becoming mushy. «I thank god for the catfish because we would be droll, boring, and dull if we didn’t have somebody nipping at our fin,» he said.
Whether or not the story is true — and it’s probably not — the term «catfish» and the associated verb «catfishing» stuck. The film spawned a spinoff reality show on MTV with the same name in 2012. And the term gained a boost in popularity in 2013 after it was revealed that Notre Dame football player Manti Te’o had fallen victim to a catfishing hoax.
MILF

The acronym was popularized by the 1999 comedy «American Pie,» in which John Cho’s character doesn’t just use the term repeatedly, but even defines it for his uninformed friends. (Cho is officially credited as «MILF Guy #2.»)
Although the term was used a small handful of times on internet message boards before the movie came out, it was indisputably «American Pie» that brought the term to the masses.
Yippie-ki-yay

Thirty years ago, «Die Hard» provided us with one of the most legendary quotes in movie history: «Yippie-ki-yay, motherf—-r.»
While the back half of that line has a colorful history of its own, it’s the «yippie-ki-yay» that appears to have broken linguistic ground. That’s because although the exclamation harks back to cowboys of the old West, it hasn’t always been phrased the same way.
A variation of «yippie-ki-yay» traces its roots back to at least the 1930s, when Bing Crosby channeled his inner cowboy for the song «I’m an Old Cowhand,» singing «yippie yi yo kayah.» Stan Jones used another variation, singing «yippie-yi-ay, yippie-yi-oh» in his 1948 song «(Ghost) Riders in the Sky,» later turned into hits by Burl Ives and Johnny Cash.
As for «yippie-ki-yay,» it provided the refrain for Gene Autry’s «Cowboy Serenade» in 1942, but hardly popped up again until the release of «Die Hard» in 1988. The phrase was apparently so unfamiliar that, according to Bruce Willis, his signature line was nearly «yippie-tai-yai.»
Despite the extensive list of expressions similar to «yippie-ki-yay,» there’s no doubt that «Die Hard» gave it the staying power it has today.
