Они приобретают различные трансформации, становясь объектами шуток, но стоит признать, что лозунги надежно закрепились не только в англоязычных культурах, но и у нас, в России. Сегодня мы поговорим о том, почему же эти фразы стали настолько популярными, кто их придумал и по какому поводу.
Плакаты с изображением незамысловатой надписи «Live, Laugh, Love», понятные даже тем, у кого в школе не наблюдалось особых успехов в изучении английского языка, сегодня штампуются в невероятных количествах. Приобретя неимоверную популярность даже в России, «Live, Laugh, Love» можно увидеть абсолютно везде. Иногда на плакатах, иногда на кружках – этот призыв становится неизбежным, мы должны «жить, смеяться и любить».
По своей популярности фраза побила рекорд не менее известного шедевра: «Keep Calm and Carry On» («Сохраняйте спокойствие и не сдавайтесь»). Даже статистика в Гугле свидетельствует об этом. Предлагаем исследовать феномен этих сверхпопулярных фраз.
«Keep Calm and Carry On»
Ставшая культовой сегодня, фраза «Keep Calm and Carry On» являлась лозунгом Великобритании во времена Второй мировой войны. В своё время агитационный лозунг не был популярен и использовался нечасто.
Пик популярности незамысловатой фразы пришелся на начало 21 века, когда в одном из букинистических магазинов была найдена копия одного из плакатов. «Keep Calm and Carry On» мгновенно стала широкоформатно цитироваться, появляясь сначала на сувенирной продукции, а затем и на всевозможных предметах домашнего обихода, элементах декора и даже на одежде.

Live Laugh Love is a catchphrase which has become associated with basic culture and is derided as a generic, shallow motto one should avoid.
Origin
The quote is inspired by the 1904 poem «Success» by Bessie Anderson Stanley,[1][2] which opens «He has achieved success / who has lived well, / laughed often, and loved much». It has been misattributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson, who once wrote something similar.[3]
Spread
In the 21st century, the quote became well known, appearing on merchandise, mugs, home decor, and tattoos (examples shown below).[2]
The phrase grew ubiquitous and took on a negative connotation near the start of the 2010s. On September 6th, 2011, Urban Dictionary user McPhd[4] posted a definition for «Live Laugh Love» reading «A trite phrase shallow women stencil onto their bedroom walls after seeing a DIY segment on the Rachael Ray Show» (shown below).
This translated into memes in which people expressed exhaustion with or aversion to the phrase. On June 22nd, 2017, Redditor AK_2000 posted a Gordon Ramsay meme about the phrase to /r/MemeEconomy[5] (shown below, left). On March 22nd, 2016, an anonymous Imgur user used a reaction image of Randy Jackson about the phrase (shown below, right).
On January 1st, 2017, a Reddit user asked a question about why the quote was so hated in /r/OutOftheLoop.[5] In response, user AwesomeInTheory answered:
It’s cliche white girl pap. Typically found on ‘inspirational’ Facebook posts or as a tattoo in cursive (google image search brings up a ton of prototypes) in an attempt to be really deep and philosophical.
I’ve always associated it with garbage ‘feel good’ chick flicky stuff like the Ya Ya Sisterhood, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and Eat, Pray Love. Young 20something pablum that’s supposed to make you really question your life and ‘live it’ and whatever, but is just full of hollow sentiments that don’t really mean anything.
It’s appealing to a lot of folks because it’s uplifting, positive and feel good and, as I’ve probably illustrated, gets made fun of for the same reasons.

«Live, Laugh, Love» is a motivational three-word phrase that became a popular slogan on motivational posters and home decor in the late 2000s and early 2010s. By extension, the saying has also become pejoratively associated with a style of «basic» Generation X[1] decor and with what Vice described as «speaking-to-the-manager shallowness».[2]

The phrase is an abridged form of the 1904 poem «Success» by Bessie Anderson Stanley which begins:

This phrase was subsequently popularized in the Ann Landers and Dear Abby columns, where it was misattributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson.[3][4] A similar phrase appears in James Joyce’s 1939 novel Finnegans Wake:

«Live, Laugh, Love» and variants on the phrase have appeared on framed posters, wall decals, ornaments, cushions, mugs, bed linen, jewellery and even on coffins.[3][4] The Live Love Laugh Foundation, a mental health organization in India founded by Deepika Padukone, takes its name from the phrase.
Vice noted that the trend had largely passed by 2020.[2] Google Trends shows that searches for the phrase peaked between 2009 and 2014 in the United States, falling in popularity since then.[6]
