Saying «my dear» or «my dears» when addressing people is a term used often and usually refers to women or girls. I have heard it used on men, but only by a very fussy old uncle of mine who was quite a character. He used it sarcastically and sometimes just to annoy a certain relative who thought he was very macho.

Addressing people as «My Dears» sounds like something an old man would say to me too. «My Dear» does sometimes get used sarcastically by younger people, but I actually don’t hear it used very often for wives and girlfriends.

«Dears» by itself sounds completely unnatural to me.
