In my experience, we usually camping as a verb. For example,
«My family went camping last summer» Camping = to travel to the forest, hike, enjoy the outdoors in general

«campsite» and «camp site» both mean the same thing. Both would be a place or area where you can setup a tent, van, camper or trailer.
It appears as «campsite» (one word) in the two English dictionaries I checked. I don’t think I would notice it as wrong if it were written as two words though.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard «camping» used as a place. The place would be a «campsite» or «campground.»

Here in the US, I’ve always called the general area where many people stay in tents, cabins or campers a «campground» and your small physical space they you pay for your «campsite».

So, if you wanted to put it all together you might say something like:
«On summer vacation we went camping in Yellowstone National Park. We had a very nice campsite near the entrance to the first campground.»

En español traduciría…
«Durante la vacación de verano fuimos de camping en el parque nacional de Yellowstone. Tuvimos un camping muy bueno cerca de la entrada del primer campamento.»

We usually call the place you go for a week as a child just «camp» or more often «summer camp.» Never campsite.
«My favorite week of the summer was spent at summer camp.»
«Mi semana favorita del verano fue pasado en campamento del verano»

Please correct my translation errors if you see any!
