How to play Wordle
1
The task of the game is to guess the hidden word. First you need to enter in the first line a word consisting of the selected number of letters. Please note that this must be a real word.
2
After entering the word, press the Enter button on the virtual keyboard. Now pay attention to the color with which the letters are highlighted.
3
If the letter is not highlighted in color and remains gray, then there is no such letter in the hidden word. If the letter is highlighted in yellow, then such a letter is in the hidden word, but is located in another cell. If the letter is highlighted in green, then the letter is in the hidden word in this cell.
4
Please note that letters in a word can be repeated, that is, if a letter is highlighted in yellow or green, it can occur in the word either once or more than once.
5
Now type the following word on the second line and press Enter. When doing this, take into account the information about the letters and their location obtained in the first round.
6
Continue typing words in subsequent lines until you guess the hidden word. After completion, share the game and the result with your friends. And most importantly — you can play an unlimited number of times.
How to play
You have to guess the hidden word in 6 tries and the color of the letters changes to show how close you are.
To start the game, just enter any word, for example:
T , B aren’t in the target word at all.
A , L is in the word but in the wrong spot.
E is in the word and in the correct spot.
Another try to find matching letters in the target word.
So close!
Got it! 🏆

The rules are very simple: You need to guess the eight-letter hidden word in 6 tries. To get started, just type any word on the first line. If the letter is guessed correctly and is in the correct place, it will be highlighted in green, if the letter is in the word, but in the wrong place — in yellow, and if the letter is not in the word, it will remain gray. Welcome to The Word Finder’s Lingle game! For all the Wordle (or Jottle or Lingo) fanatics looking for more linguistic fun, this is the game for you. In addition to 5-letter Lingles, we have 4- and 6-letter Lingles, meaning you have endless opportunities for fun.
How to Play Our 7-Letter Lingle
- Guess an initial word. This can be any 7-letter word.
- If a letter has been placed correctly in the word, it will turn green. You will then know to include that letter in the same spot of the word for all future guesses.
- If a letter is in the word but is in the wrong place, it’ll turn yellow. On future guesses, make sure to include the letter in the word, but in a different spot.
- If a letter is not in a word at all, it will turn grey. You shouldn’t include these letters in future guesses.
- Keep guessing words until you get the correct answer. Keep in mind that, in our 7-letter Lingle, you only have eight guesses to get the word. So make sure to be strategic!
- If you don’t get the word correct – or even if you do! – you can try again tomorrow. Our Lingle board refreshes with new words every day.
History of Lingo, Jotto, and Wordle
You’ve probably guessed that this game is partially inspired by Wordle, but Wordle is far from the only game of its type. In fact, Wordle itself is very similar to predecessors Lingo and Jotto, two similarly-designed word games that were once big themselves (though perhaps not as big as Wordle.)
Lingo is based on an American game show of the same name. In Lingo, a five-letter word is randomly suggested by a computer, and contestants are given the first letter of the word. Players had five seconds to make a valid guess for the word. If they don’t guess the correct word, the computer will tell them which letters have been correctly placed. It will also tell them which letters are in the word but in the wrong place. Players have five chances to guess the correct word. Though originally only a game show, the game has since been translated to the digital environment so anyone can play. As you can see, this game is very similar to Wordle. The major differences are that players are given the first letter of the word before their first guess; and that players are under a time crunch.
Likewise, Jotto has a lot in common with both Wordle and Lingle. In Jotto, two players each choose their own secret five-letter words. Then they take turns guessing each other’s words. For instance, if one person’s secret word was ‘THOSE,’ an opponent might guess ‘SHARK.’ However, the trick is, instead of being told which letters are correct, they are only told how many are correct. For instance, in the above situation, a player would only be told that they had guessed two letters correctly (the H and the S) but not which ones. Unlike Wordle or Lingo, there are no time limits or limits on the number of guesses a player can make. All that’s important is that you guess your opponent’s word before they guess yours.
Finally, perhaps the most famous guess word game of this type is Wordle. The game, originally launched to the public in late 2021, absolutely skyrocketed to fame after catching popularity online. The game’s creator, Josh Wardle, first came up with the game during quarantine in 2020. In the game, players have six guesses to get a five-letter word. Players aren’t given any sort of hints about what the words might be, leaving some people to develop a specific strategy of what words they use for their first few guesses. As in Lingo, players are told which letters in their guesses are in the right spot, are in the word but in the wrong spot, and aren’t in the world at all. However, players have as much time as they’d like between guesses, allowing more amateur players to succeed at the game alongside wordplay aficionados.
Most Strategic 7-Letter Lingle Guesses
If you’re playing the 7-letter Lingle, you’re probably looking for a challenge. And this game will certainly provide it: it’s difficult just to come up with 7-letter words to guess, let alone find the right one. If you’re playing 7-letter Lingle for the first time, or just looking to improve your skills, here are a few suggestions for strategic 7-letter Lingle guesses, as well as explanations for why they’re such a good play.
- Eagling
This verb, meaning to “play a hole in two strokes under par,” is a good play because it contains multiple vowels as well as multiple common consonants. By playing this word, you’ll knock out E, A, and I, as well as a G, L, and N. All of these letters are highly likely to appear somewhere in your word.
- Iceboat
Like ‘eagling,’ this word contains many common vowels and consonants, though it also has the added value of not having any repeat letters. Most seven-letter words do repeat letters at some point in the word, so keep that in mind when making future guesses. However, for a first guess, testing out as many letters as possible is a good strategy.
- Oarfish
A long, silver fish that lives in deep water, this word includes a whopping three vowels, as well as consonants you might not normally guess, including ‘F.’ Though it may seem strange to start your guesses with a word containing an uncommon letter, this guess can be good for a second or third word, especially if you find yourself struggling to find green tiles in the most common letters.
- Ugliest
Again, this word has multiple vowels and multiple common letters. And, as a bonus, it’s a pretty common word, meaning it’ll be easy to remember how to spell it for next time!
- Eulogia
Some players prefer to guess words that are heavier on consonants since they find the vowels easier to plug in, but if you’re a lover of the vowel-heavy strategy, then this word is your trump card. ‘Eulogia’ contains every single vowel! And, as a bonus, the other two letters in the word, L and G, are also relatively common letters.

Eight letter words. Do you know any quizzers in a blizzard? Perhaps you know the jazziest pizzeria in town! Confused? Well, there’s no need to be, we are in the whizzing world of Eight letter words! Words containing eight letters can be so exciting! Check out these useful lists too: Five Letter Words and Nine Letter Words!
Because you only have seven letters in your rack, you can only make 8 letter words by hooking onto an existing word. You won’t always be able to play QUIZZIFY or QUIZZING, for 41 or 39 points, respectively, but eight-letter bingos are among the highest-scoring plays in word games, other than semi-ridiculous words that require nine tiles already to have been played.
The Most Common Eight-Letter Words
These common eight-letter words are ABSOLUTE, MOUNTAIN, and SENTENCE. All of these are excellent bingos, with SENTENCE and MOUNTAIN using the most common letters in the game. Using such letters allow you to put 60 or more points onto your score and also to allow you to deprive your opponent of such letters.
How to Make Eight-Letter Bingos
You have to keep your eyes peeled for open tiles that go with your existing tiles. Truth be told, playing seven-letter bingos is easier than playing those with eight letters, but an eight-letter bingo can get you back into a game or put one out of your opponent’s reach. The best players usually score at least two bingos per game.
The letter C is one of those that you need to get rid of quickly, largely because, in Scrabble, there are no two-letter words starting with C. When it comes to 8 letter words starting with C, cheddars, coccyxes, and crappies are excellent choices. Each has multiple common letters that could be left open by an opponent.
Keep in mind that you will likely have to play a shorter word on your turn, and passing to wait for an opportunity to play 8 letter words starting with C can be a fool’s errand. You would have to pass so many times, in all likelihood, that even playing COCCYXES for more than 20 points would only catch you up to where you would be had you played smaller words. Still, knowing all of your options is essential so that when the time comes, you can pounce.
Your ability to unscramble words must be trained and honed until you can anagram any rack you might draw. You have to be able to weigh the chances of scoring an eight-letter bingo against playing four 25 or 30 point words that would be the same as playing that one word. If you’re miles ahead, for example, it might be worth it to fish for a single tile if the one you need is common, such as an A or an E, to make an eight, or even nine or 10-letter bingo. Taking wild chances seldom works in crossword games. Judicious use of well-reasoned gambles, however, is definitely a part of a winning strategy.
