How does it work?

Limitations
One minor frustration about Words With Friends Free is that there is no option for a single-player mode. While this might make sense in a game geared toward multiple user play, some people enjoy practicing on their own with the letter tiles they’ve been given. Although registering and getting yourself set up for gameplay in Words With Friends is a relative breeze, figuring out how to actually play isn’t quite as simple if you’re unfamiliar with word games like this. The new version of the game features “power ups,” three options to give you an advantage over your opponent. “Hindsight” shows you the best move you could have played in a round, which may be available to you in the next round. “Word radar” shows you were you can play on the board for the current round. “Swap and play” enables you to swap letters without losing a turn. You can earn these advantages or buy them. Your use of these advantages is NOT transparent to your opponent. Moreover, may use these features repeatedly throughout the game. If you repeatedly use the swap and play feature, it is almost impossible for your opponent to get quality letters. You are no longer using your skills to compete against your opponent, you are using these advantages to win. The new features are enabling rampant cheating and sadly it now seems to be the norm. I can see maybe allowing use of one advantage during a game, but that should be transparent to your opponent. There is no opt-out to the new features and I simply do not want to play someone who is cheating. And why should my earned stats be given the same weight as someone who purchased a win? The new features of this app have driven me away from the game. Sadly, I doubt Zynga cares about enthusiasts like me, because they are certainly making a lot more money off of the new features.

I enjoy this game and play everyday. I find
It at time intruding into space set up for me to do other things. Takes some discipline in my part. I enjoy being able to exchange lettters without penalty one time. I didn’t think being able to see spaces available where I could play would benefit but find it does help especially on a challenging environment. I like being able to chat. And presentation after the play to see if I placed my the app in the best place or utilized the highest points that turn is fun. The advertisement sometime get stuck and I have to stop playing and turn off the game. I love scrabble but didn’t always have company to play. So I played the board by myself. But this app is so much more fun than the physical board of scrabble. I enjoy solo play but gets frustrating when I make real the app and the game won’t except. I miss being able to pass the phone back and forth when out with my little ones and engage in a game. Overall I love the game and highly recommend -

All the new features are really annoying and detract from the fun of the game. Problems were not fixed with all the new bells and whistles, and new ones were introduced.
Notifications. Sometimes you get notified that it’s your turn, mostly you don’t. The badge icon hardly works so you never know how many games are waiting.
Opening the app. When you first go in, it seems to randomly choose one of your games and presents as your turn. But it’s just the one game. The “Next” button isn’t active even when you have several games waiting. I now immediately exit this game. Then I see my list of active games, and the “Next” button is presented as I take each turn.
Finishing. When you complete a game, you’re given an opportunity to start a new one with that player. If you do, after you make your first play, you click “Next” and it takes you back into the game you just completed even if you have several others waiting. And they still haven’t fixed the problem of prompting both the winner and loser to start a new game, even after one of you already has! What’s up with that?! Often you end up with multiple games with the same player. So annoying.
I want to like this. I love the challenge of Scrabble. But this is no longer fun. -

I have played this game for 10+ years. I paid for my original version, which Zynga no longer supports, thus effectively taking my money and not delivering. That is known as fraud. The original two versions of the game did not have all the crap this game now contains. I do not want to be rewarded for their arbitrary milestones, nor do I want to play games within games, nor do I want to see coins and party boxes flashing in my face. Additionally, the crap they have added now causes the games to move at a glacial pace, many times freezing when you are trying to place letters or not responding to a PLAY command. And the ultimate challenge, which occurs at least once a day, is that the game is so incapable of keeping up with the speed of play that it simply collapses. The screen blanks out to white, freezes and is not recoverable. The only way to get it back is to shut down your device and reboot. This is a clear indication that they have built a game without the industrial strength to handle all the crap they have built into it. I play with approximately 8-10 people. We ALL experience this BS. Some people I played with have quit WWF and gone to Word Chum out of frustration. Congratulations Zynga, you really have succeeded at turning a good, well-liked game into a piece of garbage.

How to Play Words With Friends?

In this match, you start with seven randomly provided letter tiles. You will receive the same number of letter tiles as you have used during your turn. However, during the later part of the game, there may no longer be enough letter tiles for replenishment.
Just like the classic board game, players will take turns in forming words on the board. In the alternative, players can opt to add a letter tile or two to concepts already existing on the board. Or they can swap their letter tiles or take a pass if there are no possible words to create.
Forming words on the board, players can only do so either horizontally or vertically. The main goal is to score as many points as possible on every turn.
Premium Squares on the Board Game
Like Scrabble, there are squares on the board that let you double or triple your points. So if you land on a square marked with DL or TL, you get double or triple the letter points. Similarly, when you fall on a DW or TW; you get double or triple the points for that word/s.
How Does Each Game End?
There are 104 letter tiles in every game. So each game ends when these two things concur.
First, when a player plays the letter tiles, and there are no more available letters in the pool. In this case, there may be no more word combinations to make. And second, given the limited letter tiles, the players could no longer make any word on the board.
After playing the last tile, the players will add the values of their respective remaining letter tiles. Then they will subtract that number to their points. The player who garnered the highest score (after making the corresponding deduction) wins.

How to Play Words With Friends PC?
The overall objective is to score as many points as you can. You will take turns with your opponent in forming words based on the letter tiles on hand. Then you will tally all the points scored while deducting the value of the tiles on side. The final score shall determine who wins the game.
Placement of the Letter Tiles on the Board
When forming words on the board, you will need to arrange your letters either horizontally or vertically. The game will not count any formed words in a diagonal arrangement.
For the first word thrown in the game, one of the letter tiles needs to be on the star. The next name must connect with the first word. And all following words need to share at least one letter tile from any existing word on the board.
When placing tiles on the board, you can only follow one direction: either vertically or horizontally. You can set the letter tiles in a way that multiple words can form simultaneously with the neighboring letters. So it is possible to form words horizontally or vertically with the nearby letters.
However, you must adhere to the placement rule, following a horizontal or vertical arrangement of the letter tiles. And you cannot place your letter tiles if they form illegal words (or non-words) in relation to the neighbouring letters.

Once in a while, you may receive a blank tile from the letter tile pool. This thing can be both a good thing or a bad thing.
You can substitute a blank tile for any letter. So if you want to complete your desired word, this tile is perfect.
But the downside to this is that it has no point value. So what happens if that the blank tile lands on a double or triple letter score? Nothing; you get no points for it. However, you get corresponding points if it falls on a double or triple word score.
Pass, Swap, or Resign in the Play
In addition to forming words on the board, you have three options when it is your turn to play. You can pass your turn, or you can swap your letter tile with your choice from the pool. Or you can resign from the game, which will count as a loss; but you can do this any time.
You may pass your turn when you want to. If you do that, you will not be able to form words on the board. You will have to wait until it is your turn once again. However, when you pass your turn for three consecutive times, it will result as a loss.
Can’t find the right letter combinations to form your desired word? You can swap any letter tile that you have with the ones from the letter tile pool. But when you opt to exchange your letter tiles, you lose a turn. Hence, you will not be making any words on the board for that round.
Scoring Tile
Each letter tile has a corresponding value for scoring purposes. So what if it lands on a double or triple letter score? Then you get double or triple the points based on the letter tile’s value.
When landing on a double or triple word score, you add up all the values of all letter tiles used. Then you multiply it by two or three accordingly.
However, you can no longer double or triple the value of the letters or words played on previous rounds. This thing means you can only enjoy once the bonuses in these premium squares.

Megan, who resides in Uptown Chicago, was a long-time match wordsmith, playing it since 2009. But she only plays it with only one person, a close friend of hers. However, that friend went out of town for Thanksgiving vacation, so Megan has no one to play with anymore. That was when she thought of playing against a random opponent.
«She was out of town and not playing as quickly as I wanted her to,» Megan narrated. So she did the next logical thing. «I hit ‘random opponent.’»
A Marriage Born Out of Words With Friends Play
Jasper, who was from The Netherlands, decided to settle in Chicago for good to live with Megan. Do you think the relationship was hasty? According to the couple, some people seem to think so.
For one, Jasper said some people thought the romance was fast-tracked. «Most people think, when we tell the story, that we immediately started a very intimate conversation,» he remarked. «It very gradually built up to finally meeting each other.”
On the other hand, Megan has some reservations when sharing their love story. «I guess I thought people would think it was geeky or weird,” she related about filling people in.
She also had a hard time explaining to her 75-year-old dad how she met Jasper. «I think he still doesn’t quite understand how we met,” she commented.
