Fill in the missing word games

Today we want to play a listening and vocabulary game with you!

At the start of each unit in our course you will watch an ABA Film. This short movie is the starting point of the unit and contains the grammar and vocabulary you will learn in the other sections. By watching a real life situation, it will be easier for you to understand the content and it will intuitively arouse your natural instinct to learn English.

So… what’s the game about? Well, you will watch the ABA Film 25 and listen to the conversation between Helen and her friend Julia. Helen secretly tells her friend how she and her husband are making all their money.

This ABA Film is a Lower Intermediate level and covers the verb “to have” in the affirmative.

Listen to the film carefully, as many times as you need, and tell us what those missing words are.

– And you have a a very nice garden with a big swimming-pool!

The Fill in the Blanks Game activity consists of filling in the missing words of a given text. The text can be phrases, sentences, or even full paragraphs.

There are two methods to fill in the blanks:

1. Clicking on the missing words from an jumbled list in the sidebar. The words must be chosen in the order they appear in the text. If you make a mistake, click on the incorrect word to return it to the word list.
2. Typing each word into the blanks.

The difficulty level of the activity will vary depending on how many words are missing from the text. Some activities will only be missing a few words and will be relatively easy to complete. Other activities will present more of a challenge by requiring you to completely rewrite the sentence from the mixed up words.

This activity is often used in language courses and children’s classes.

It is an interesting activity to strengthen concepts and their meanings, with a greater difficulty if the answer has to be whole written (and not clicked on).
