My answers are in RED.

Balancing The Risks

What are the chances of slipping on a banana skin or BEING hit by lightning? These are not the sort of events that most people spend their time thinking ABOUT, unless perhaps one has already happened to them.

HOWEVER, a surprising number of people have, at some time in their lives, imagined aliens kidnapping them. Some even have recurring nightmares about it, whereas relatively few are afraid of dying from flu, EVEN though it is a far more commom experience. No ___________ many people who go rock climbing or bugee jumping will be among the __________ people drinking bottled water because it’s safer than water from the tap.

Amazingly, our fear of flying outweighs our fear of driving, though the statistics show that flying is MORE safer. The best explanation is that people dread far more the possibility of dropping out the air THAN being involved in a car crash.

In an attempt to educate us all in the real and imagined risks of life, scientists are now constructing a scale of risk so THAT people can compare any new and unfamiliar risks, such AS those involved in taking new medicines, in terms of real events.
