I can feel desire in your eyes
My heart just burns in fire
Please hold me tight
I wanna touch your skin
It’s gonna be a sin
Let’s take this chance to make it real
Tonight we’re having a good time
Just close your eyes
Tonight we’re reaching heaven
We’re gonna fly so high!
Tonight we feel so free
It’s our fantasy
Enjoy this moment just tonight!
We knock the gates of heaven
It’s our dream
I give you all my best and
You give it to me
I wanna hold you tight
And kiss you one more time
You are the lady of desire
Tonight we’re having a good time
Just close your eyes
Tonight we’re reaching heaven
We’re gonna fly so high!
Tonight we feel so free
It’s our fantasy
Enjoy this moment just tonight!

I got someone who loves me tonight
I got over a thousand dollars in the bank
And I’m all right -
Stay up tonight
Stay up at night -
Around the throne tonight
Your love lives on inside of me
And I will hold on tight -
Making spirits bright
Oh What fun it is to ride
A sleighing song tonight -
Rudolph with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?

You and I—tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave—
I will forget the light! -
Ring out, and shake with mirth the planets bright?
No doubt he brings the blessed dead good cheer,
But silence broods on Elsinore tonight. -
Christmas where peace, like a dove in his flight,
Broods o’re brave men in the thick of the fight;
Everywhere, everywhere, Christmas tonight! -
O pour it in the sawdust glow of night
Into the velvet pine-smoke air tonight, -
Sitting alone in the fading light
Memories come to me here tonight

«Do you want to get a drink tonight? » I’ve come across that as an example of making an invitation.
Can I use ‘feel like’ or ‘fancy’ in such context? i.e. «Do you feel like/fancy a drink tonight?»
-
#2
I imagine that you can use «fancy», zaffy, if you are trying to speak British English.
«Do you feel like getting a drink?» is a common and colloquial way to say «Do you want to go somewhere and have a drink?» I can’t tell you how often British speakers use «feel like», but this speech habit is widespread in the U.S. It is so common over here that I am reluctant to call it an error even though many other speakers probably consider it to be one.
-
#3
Do you fancy going out for a drink? is quite common in this part of the world.
-
#4
Do you fancy going out for a drink? is quite common in this part of the world.
And would you say «Do you fancy getting/having a drink tonight?
-
#5
And would you say «Do you fancy getting/having a drink tonight?
I prefer «having» to «getting» there, but to me, YLR’s suggestion of «going for» is more idiomatic in BE.
-
#6
And would you say «Do you fancy getting/having a drink tonight?
’Having’ is definitely more common than ‘getting’ here.
-
#7
I think there’s a stronger implication of «going out (to a pub, a bar, etc.)» in «Do you fancy getting a drink …?» than there is in «Do you fancy having a drink …?»
-
#8
In BE, it can be pared right down to ‘Fancy a drink?’
The context would make it clear whether it implies going out for a drink, or staying where you are while the speaker rustles up a drink for you.
-
#9
And may «going out for a drink» refer to a coffee as well or does that refer to alcoholic drinks only?
-
#10
In most cases, probably alcohol only.
-
#11
In most cases, probably alcohol only.
So this question is a bit risky as the listener might say «sorry I don’t drink alcohol», isn’t it? In other words, if I wanted to ask a woman out, wouldn’t it be safer to say «Are you free for a coffee tonight? Or, even better, wouldn’t it be the safest to ask «Do you feel like going out on the town tonight?» I believe this question will include any kind of activity, like coffee, walk, cinema etc, right?
-
#12
Are you free for a coffee tonight?
That would be perfect. The intention is clear.
Do you feel like going out on the town tonight?
«Out on the town tonight» doesn’t mean alcohol directly but I think it strongly implies it for most people. Going out on the town means spending a lot of money, going to different places and staying out late. All of that is traditionally accompanied by alcohol.
If you had a non-drinking friend you routinely did this with then it wouldn’t mean alcohol for you two, but for the general case, it would.
-
#13
And no matter if that would be coffee or some alcoholic drink, do you always make it countable in the singular form? Feel like
a
drink, Go out for a coffee.
-
#14
Some people talk about «going out for drinks». That’s another alternative. It clearly indicates you’re not planning to have just one. If you go out for «a drink» you might only have one or you might keep going.
Do a search for posts about coffee. There is a lot of discussion about what different people say.
When I was growing up there was only the option of going out for coffee or going out for a cup of coffee. Now lots of people talk about going out for a coffee. It still sounds odd to me. I picture having to hold my hands out as they pour the coffee in my hands. Where’s my cup?

Here in Poland we often invite friends to go out to have a beer. Would it be natural to say «Do you feel like having a beer tonight?» or would I rather say «Do you feel like having a drink tonight?»
-

Here in Poland we often invite friends to go out to have a beer. Would it be natural to say «Do you feel like having a beer tonight?» or would I rather say «Do you feel like having a drink tonight?»
You might feel like having a beer/drink at home, so it’s best to specify ‘going out’. Do you feel like going out for a beer/drink tonight?
-
#17
(Speaking for AE) A beer is not a drink — even though it’s alcohol. You can go out drinking and drink beer all night and never have a drink.
In that context, drink means a «mixed drink» of some kind of liquor — whiskey, vodka, etc.
So these are two different questions:
Do you feel like having a beer tonight?» or would I rather say «Do you feel like having a drink tonight?»
It’s complicated by the fact that if someone invites you for a drink you could choose beer. So in that case, even though you’re out for a drink, you’re having a beer, not a drink. But you would still be «drinking» because you are consuming alcohol.
«Getting a drink» includes all alcohol options even when they aren’t all called «a drink» directly.
If someone invites you for «a beer» it’s possible you are going somewhere where beer is the only option. Not all places that serve beer serve hard liquor, too. Inviting someone for a beer sounds more casual than inviting them for a drink.
Get it?

And how about ‘want’, ‘fancy’ and ‘feel like’ in this example?
A: Do you want an apple or a banana?
B: Neither. I’m full up.

A Brit told me this as for #18. Do you agree?
Not sure about ‘feel like’ that doesn’t really work for me, but I do know people who use it. «Want’ and ‘fancy’ are fine.

I see what your ‘Brit’ friend means about ‘feel like’. In theory, it’s OK, but we probably wouldn’t say it.
One problem is that ‘Do you feel like a …..?’ is ambiguous and potentially comical. The idea of ‘I feel like a banana’ would have most youngsters rolling about with laughter. This is a reason why we might avoid it.
