Hey everyone, I’m completely in over my head and could use some pointers.

I’m trying to use an Excel file for a thermodynamic software called REFPROP. The excel file is supposed to use a DLL file from said software to return state values for different fluids, however the worksheet cannot verify the DLL file location. When attempts are made to reload the file the cell that verifies the DLL version number instead gives a #VALUE! error as seen in the first picture of the linked album. I assumed this meant that the excel file just wasn’t sure where the DLL file was located, so I added the developer tab to the tool bar and opened up the code. This is where I get lost. As the second picture shows, the developer expected that this may be an issue and suggests renaming instances of Public Declare PtrSafe Sub REFPROPdll Lib "REFPRP64.DLL" (picture 2) with something like Public Declare PtrSafe Sub REFPROPdll Lib "C:Program Files (x86)MINI-REFPROPREFPROP.DLL"to specify the file path, which I did. However, even though I replaced "REFPROP64.DLL" with "C:Program Files (x86)MINI-REFPROPREFPROP.DLL" , the DLL file location, the excel worksheet still returns a #VALUE! error.

The developer note at the top of the code mentions that alternatively, you can specify the DLL path as an environment variable, but I genuinely have no clue where to add that in the code. Can anyone point me in the right direction for solving this issue? I can post the excel file that has the VBA code if that would be more helpful than my screen shots and description of the problem.

I am currently trying to add control to a Power Analyzer in an excel tool. The company provides USB drivers and the appropriate modules and DLLs. I added the DLLs to the System32 folder to ensure they were read in the path. After importing the modules and trying to run the program, I get the error «File Not Found». I then tried to hard code the location of the DLL and I received the same error.

I’ve looked around the internet and the only issue I could find was possibly a dependency missing from the DLL. An example of the line I’m trying to use is:

Declare Function TmSend Lib "tmctl.dll" (ByVal id As Long, ByVal msg As String) As Long

This line is apart of the module provided by the manufacturer. Is there something I’m missing to get this to work? I want to make sure before I contact the manufacturer.

EDIT:

It appears that the manufacturer uploaded a corrupt DLL causing the issue to arise. When checking the file with Dependency Walker, it failed to even read the DLL.
