Interests: music, social networks. 12 students in class.
· 5.UE 8 Use a verb “to be” to talk about favourite things on a limited range of familiar general and curricular topics.
· 5.R2 Understand with support specific information and detail in short simple texts on general and curricular topics
Learners will be able to:
· Select and name a verb “to be” in Past Simple form.
· Apply the topic – related words of describing appearance in speech
· Identify the characters and meaning of words related to the topic of the lesson
· Elicit the plural or singular form of the verb “to be” in Past Simple
· Define the main characters in the text
· Comment on appearance of mythical creatures
Interactive board, laptop, cards
Ss knew the rule of Past Simple and practiced to use the verb “to be” with support of the teacher
Demo lesson procedure
Teacher introduces the topic and lesson objectives
· listens to the teacher
Teacher drills new vocabulary with students.
· memorizes new words
Teacher divides students into two groups and gives 4 sentences to each group. Students should choose the correct form of verb “to be” in Past Simple form
· Uses Past Simple
· Defines the correct form
Less able students are supported by modeling the task, giving more thinking time.
Teacher gives the text and explain the instruction to the task. Students read the text and match the creatures with their definitions and describe them in pairs

-What are their feature?
-Listen to the song and put the pictures in order.
-Play the song again and check answers. Pause the song after each verse and elicit or say the animals, learners repeat. Check answers as a class.
—Have you ever read stories about fantasy animals?
-Look at the pictures. Which shows:
a lion? a mouse? a centaur? a minotaur? a Pegasus, hydra, wolf.

Go through the features in the list and explain/elicit the meanings of any unknown words. Play the recording. Students listen and repeat chorally or individually and point to each feature as it is mentioned.
Hippogriff, phoenix, the Samruk, Cyclops, unicorn, dragon.
To relate mythical creatures to animals.
Elicit which creatures look like the animals in the list.
Suggested answer key:
A hippogriff looks like a horse and an eagle
A phoenix looks like an eagle
The Samruk looks like an eagle
A Cyclops looks like a giant
A unicorn looks like a horse
A dragon looks like a huge snake.
To describe mythical creatures
Read out the example and ask various students around the class to describe the creature using the phrases given earlier.

A phoenix looks like an eagle. It has got a long tail, sharp claws, a beak, big wings and long feathers.
