Synonyms of ‘drink’
Down (выпить залпом) – если вы «down a drink», значит вас очень мучает жажда, т.к. это означает выпить быстро, залпом, например: “I spent the whole day in the field and was so thirsty that downed a whole jar of cold milk”.
Можно также сказать «sip a cup of coffee», т.к. кофе горячий и его трудно выпить залпом, и «sip a glass of wine».
Gulp (глотать) – когда вы «down a drink» вы фактически «gulp it down».
Chug! Chug!».
Swig (потягивать вино) – фраза «to take a swig» означает тоже, что и «to take a sip», только вместо того, чтобы пить маленькими глотками, вы пьете большими. Можно сказать “do you mind my swigging your lemonade?”
