It is so much fun to draw cartoons with words, letters, and numbers. Today, I will show you how to draw a little cartoon boy out of the word “boy”. This is a great drawing lesson for children, and teens, and grown ups…it is fun for every one.

Written-Out Step by Step Instructions
(Step 1) Write out the lowercase letters – b, o, y
(Step 2) Draw a dot in the letter ‘b’ and ‘o’, as these are the boy’s eyes. Draw a curved line connecting the ‘b’ with the ‘y’.
(Step 3) Draw zig-zaggy lines for bangs…draw a curved line at the back of his head. Draw a letter ‘c’ shape for his nose.
(Step 4) Draw more zig-zaggy shapes for hair. Draw a curved line for each eye brow and for his smile.
(Step 5) Draw last zig-zaggy letter ‘M’ shape for the top of his hair. Draw a letter ‘C’ shape for his ear. Draw a curved line for side of mouth and 2 lines for his neck.
(Step 6) Draw a letter ‘c’ shape inside his ear.
(Step 7) Color boy in if you choose to.

If your cartoon faces keep looking like simple smiley faces, this technique can help. By writing out the word «boy» and connecting the lines, you can draw a unique cartoon face in seconds once you get the hang of it! This trick is great for entertaining kids while babysitting.

Write the word «boy». Make sure the Y is not curly at the end. Leave a little bit of space between the letters — they shouldn’t be touching each other. Don’t capitalize any of the letters.

Connect the bottom of the letter «y» to the backbone of the letter «b». This will make the jaw of your cartoon face.

Connect the top of the letter «b» to the top right of the letter «y». This will make the hair so make a hairstyle. Make zig zags, spirals, a mohawk, or a round head (i.e. bald!).

Connect the top left of the «y» to the beginning of the hair, as shown. This will make the hairline. There isn’t much room for creativity here, unless you want to give your cartoon face a widow’s peak or a side burn.

Fill in the details. Draw pupils in his eyes, eyebrows, a nose and a mouth.

If you want to be more fancy, color it and it will look fantastic.
