How To Describe A Girl To Impress Her?

Here are some general tips on how to describe a girl in a way that might impress her:

  1. Focus on her unique qualities: Think about what makes her stand out from others and highlight those qualities in your description. Whether it’s her intelligence, sense of humor, creativity, or something else entirely, emphasizing what makes her special can be very flattering.
  2. Be specific: Instead of using general, cliché compliments like “you’re beautiful,” try to be more specific in your descriptions. For example, you could mention her striking eyes, gorgeous smile, or elegant sense of style.
  3. Use descriptive language: Using vivid, descriptive language can help bring your description to life and make it more memorable. Consider using metaphors, similes, or other literary devices to paint a picture of her in your words.
  4. Be respectful: It’s important to make sure that your description is respectful and not objectifying. Avoid making comments about her body or appearance that could be taken the wrong way.

Ultimately, the best way to impress someone is, to be honest, kind, and respectful. Show a genuine interest in getting to know her as a person and let your actions speak louder than your words.

How To Describe A Girl In One Word?

It’s difficult to describe a girl in just one word, as every girl is unique and complex in her own way. However, some common adjectives used to describe girls are beautiful, intelligent, kind, confident, funny, charming, and unique. It’s important to note that each individual has their own set of qualities that make them or who they are, and it’s not fair to reduce them to just one word.

About The Author

The idea for the Describing Words engine came when I was building the engine for Related Words (it’s like a thesaurus, but gives you a much broader set of related words, rather than just synonyms). While playing around with word vectors and the «HasProperty» API of conceptnet, I had a bit of fun trying to get the adjectives which commonly describe a word. Eventually I realised that there’s a much better way of doing this: parse books!

Project Gutenberg was the initial corpus, but the parser got greedier and greedier and I ended up feeding it somewhere around 100 gigabytes of text files — mostly fiction, including many contemporary works. The parser simply looks through each book and pulls out the various descriptions of nouns.

Hopefully it’s more than just a novelty and some people will actually find it useful for their writing and brainstorming, but one neat little thing to try is to compare two nouns which are similar, but different in some significant way — for example, gender is interesting: «woman» versus «man» and «boy» versus «girl». On an inital quick analysis it seems that authors of fiction are at least 4x more likely to describe women (as opposed to men) with beauty-related terms (regarding their weight, features and general attractiveness). In fact, «beautiful» is possibly the most widely used adjective for women in all of the world’s literature, which is quite in line with the general unidimensional representation of women in many other media forms. If anyone wants to do further research into this, let me know and I can give you a lot more data (for example, there are about 25000 different entries for «woman» — too many to show here).

The blueness of the results represents their relative frequency. You can hover over an item for a second and the frequency score should pop up. The «uniqueness» sorting is default, and thanks to my Complicated Algorithm™, it orders them by the adjectives’ uniqueness to that particular noun relative to other nouns (it’s actually pretty simple). As you’d expect, you can click the «Sort By Usage Frequency» button to adjectives by their usage frequency for that noun.

Female beauty in all ages was one of the mainthemes for thinkers. The brightest minds of the world tried to define the framework of the ideal. Today, it is possible to trace the changes in tastes thanks to history and art.

The legendary queen

Description of the appearance of the girl, her picture -work, which in different epochs were performed by writers, artists and sculptors. In their creations, they tried to portray the ideal to which all women aspired.

These connoisseurs of the beautiful halfhumanity were the Egyptians. Of course, the standard of beauty was Queen Nefertiti. Her portrait still causes controversy among scientists. However, without a doubt, the Egyptian was a perfection — of short stature, with a well-built figure. The curves of the body eloquently stated about grace. Aspen waist and swan neck made the body extremely attractive. The symmetry of the face of Nefertiti is legendary. The queen’s eyebrows were surprisingly neat: thin black arcs. Full lips formed into a mysterious half-smile. Big eyes became even more expressive thanks to the black eyeliner. On a straight little nose, the hump was barely visible. And on the high cheekbones dimples played.

The Mystery of the World

Certain tastes formed the Renaissance. Description of the appearance of the girl, whose face fascinated others, today is presented in the form of a picture.

Of course, everyone has their own ideals of beauty. However, the world has long recognized that the La Gioconda Leonardo da Vinci — the standard of refinement. The main heroine of this painting is a young girl dressed in a dark dress. She sits half-turned. Her gentle hands are folded criss-cross on her knees. Black long hair, which covers a transparent veil, fall on the right shoulders of waves. The girl followed the fashion and, according to the then canons, shaved her eyebrows and hair on the edge of her forehead, so that he seemed even taller.

Description of the beautiful girl Gioconda — one of thethe greatest mysteries of mankind. Deep-set eyes, straight nose and thin lips make the model visually very gentle and affectionate. Particular attention is attracted by a smile. The corners of the mouth are slightly raised. Therefore, it seems that the heroine is hiding something very important from the viewer. Mona Lisa looks no less mysteriously. Her look is full of playful tricks.

First Beauty

There are portraits that will remain in historyeven hundreds of years later. One of the most beautiful women consider British actress Audrey Hepburn. About such a thin and fragile camp, like hers, millions of ladies dreamed of. The description of the girl who is considered the ideal of the past era, still fascinates. The actress had a small round face, on which there was always a smile. The dark hair was neatly picked up and tied into a knot. Under the low forehead black arcs are drawn wide, but graceful eyebrows. The big brown eyes of the woman brought in black pencil, from this they became even more expressive. Audrey had low cheekbones, a slightly upturned nose and thin lips. When the actress smiled, tiny wrinkles appeared under her eyes. The movements of the woman were extremely light and graceful.

the description of the girl by the guy

Portrait of elegance

No less exciting is the description of the girl, which lives in the XXI century. Now men like slender and long-legged beauties, who have a minimum of artificiality and a maximum of naturalness. The ideal young lady should keep an eye on her figure and play sports without fanaticism. Have a thin mill, graceful and light. A tight body just radiates health and beauty. On a lively, radiant face, a sincere smile plays constantly. And in the eyes — a reflection of a pure soul.

The girl, about which guys dream, uses a minimum of cosmetics and dresses modestly, though with taste. It definitely has its distinct style and looks elegant in any outfit.

Description of a girl who would like manymen, of course, a difficult matter. However, every guy wants his beloved, even if he is not the soul of the company, could boldly and confidently maintain conversations.

Tips for beginners

If you need to make a verbal portrait of a girl, then it’s best to start with a description of the figure. To do this, you can use different phrases. For example: «The body is very thin, even semi-transparent,» «moderately well-fed,» or «has a plump, dense body.» However, one should take into account that if you draw a portrait of a real person, then some comparisons can offend him.

description of a beautiful girl

Next, a description of a girl by a guy can touch the devilface. Care should be taken to pay attention to each part. In addition, you can sketch individual details: moles, dimples, wrinkles. Undoubtedly, a significant part of the portrait should be occupied by outlining the eyes. Here you should specify not only their size and color, but also tell about the look.

Then you can go to other external characteristics — it’s a manner of behavior, gestures and movements. Style of walking, special expressions and words, communication skills, too, will not be superfluous in the portrait.

Description of the girl in English or another foreign language should be done in simple words and short sentences. This text is easier to write and can be remembered without much effort.

Final Evaluation

It is equally important to draw a portraitcharacter traits. It is through this information that one can understand what a person really is. Very often the beautiful face and body begin to seem ugly when the true essence is revealed. And on the contrary, a not very pretty girl will seem extremely attractive after someone praises her positive aspects.

It is best to start outlining the character withinteresting and extraordinary history, inherent only to this person. It could be a story about how the main character acted in an unusual situation. If she insisted on insult with patience, it speaks of nobility. The description of a girl who acted unfairly or impolite towards another person should hint at rudeness and indifference. Accordingly, opening character traits and behavior, the author finally changes or fixes the above information.

a description of the girl in English

You can do verbal portraits of close friends and completely unfamiliar ladies. However, when describing a young lady, one should not forget about tolerance.

There are many circumstances where you might find yourself needing to describe a girl. Maybe she’s a character in a story you’re writing, or perhaps you’re just trying to tell a friend about someone you met. Whatever the reason, the most obvious place to start is with a description of her physical appearance. If you want to really capture who she is, you can also describe her personality and mannerisms. If you’re describing a girl in a creative writing context, choose words that will captivate your reader without swamping them with detail.

  1. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 1

    1

Start with a general description of her appearance. Consider the very first things that you tend to notice about a person when you look at them. When you look at a girl, your initial impression probably includes things like her approximate age, race, height, and build.[1]

    • Think of the most general description you might start with if you had to describe a suspect to the police, or the types of physical information that you might find on a driver’s license.
    • For example, your first impression might be that the girl is Caucasian, in her mid-teens, tall, and husky.
  2. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 2

    2

Describe her hair. Think about the color, texture, and length of her hair.[2]
Is it straight and blonde, or curly and dark? Does it have long layers, or is it buzzed short or cut pixie-style? Is it glossy or dull? You can also describe how it is styled—e.g., in a ponytail, braided, or hanging loose.

    • For example, you could say, “She has thick, naturally curly hair that hangs a little bit below her shoulders. It’s dark brown with a few caramel-colored highlights.”
    • If she has a striking hairstyle or a distinctive dye job, make sure to point that out. For example, “Her hair is cut short and styled into a faux hawk. It’s dyed cotton candy blue at the tips.”

  3. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 3

    3

Talk about her facial features. Include a general description of the shape of her face as well as details about her individual features. Look for features that stand out and make her distinctive and identifiable.

    • The eyes are one of the most identifiable features of a person’s face, so make sure to describe them. Focus on things like their color and shape. For example, “Her eyes are almond-shaped and very dark brown.”
    • When describing her whole face, you might say something like, “She has a wide, round face with a pointed chin. Her eyes are big and greyish-green, with dark eyelashes. Her nose is short and a little turned up at the end.”
  4. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 4

    4

Note her skin tone. Skin color is another identifying characteristic that people are quick to notice. You can talk about it in terms of value (dark, medium, light, fair) as well as the actual color (e.g., brown, beige, tan, pink).

    • You might also make note of other obvious skin features, like freckles or rosy cheeks.
    • For example, you could say, “She has fair skin with a few freckles on her nose,” or “Her skin is golden-brown with a subtle rosy glow around her cheeks.”
  5. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 5

    5

Discuss her body shape. Is she tall, short, or average for her age? Is she slim, heavy-set, or somewhere in between? If the girl is athletic, she might be trim and lean or big and muscular. Some girls are curvy, while others have a more lanky or boyish figure.

    • You can also describe her posture—for example, does she slouch, or stand tall?[3]
    • For example, you might say, “She’s tall and lanky, but she has a slouch that makes her look shorter than she is.”
  6. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 6

    6

Touch on how she’s dressed. This can include either specific items of clothing or her general style. For example, if you’re describing how she looks at a particular moment, you could say, “She was wearing a bright red, knee-length summer dress and blue canvas shoes.” Speaking more generally, you might say, “She has kind of a bohemian style. She likes to dress in bright colors.”[4]

    • You can also mention things like jewelry, accessories, and glasses. For example, “She always wears a pair of simple gold hoop earrings.”
  7. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 7

    7

Mention any distinguishing characteristics. These could include natural features, such as birthmarks or scars, or intentional modifications, like tattoos or piercings. Look for anything that stands out and makes her uniquely identifiable.[5]

    • For example, you might say, “She has a chipped front tooth and a beauty mark next to her nose on the right side.”
  8. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 8

    8

Give your impression of her overall appearance. If you want, you can say a few words about how you, personally, feel about her appearance. For example, you might say that she is “pretty,” “striking,” “ordinary,” or “cute.” You could also say things like “She looks stylish and put-together,” or “She’s kind of edgy-looking.”[6]

    • Depending on the context, it might not be appropriate to use these kinds of judgmental or subjective descriptions. If you’re describing a real person, be sensitive to how she might feel if she heard or read your description.

  1. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 9

    1

Summarize her key personality traits. Think of the first thing you would say about the girl if someone asked you what she was like as a person. Is she outgoing, or shy? Serious, or silly? Does she have a lot of drive and ambition, or is she more passive and laid back? What’s her sense of humor like? You can also think of personality in terms of how she interacts with other people.[7]

    • For example, you might say, “Sarah is kind of shy at first, but she opens up a lot once you get to know her. She’s very smart and has a wicked sense of humor.”
  2. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 10

    2

Discuss her interests. In order to really understand who a person is, it’s important to know something about the things they care about. Describe what you know about the girl’s major interests. This could include things like her career goals, her hobbies, foods she likes, music she listens to, or her favorite movies. You could also talk about things like her core beliefs and values.[8]

    • For example, “Florence loves writing, and she wants to be a published author someday. She’s very passionate about social justice issues.”
  3. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 11

    3

Describe her speaking style. Consider things like the speed and volume at which the girl speaks, as well as her word choice and speech patterns. Perhaps the girl you are describing talks fast and runs her words together, or maybe she has a slow and leisurely style. She may tend to speak quietly, or maybe everyone can hear her coming from a mile away. Does she usually ramble when she talks, or does she get straight to the point?

    • You can also talk about the sound of her voice. Is it high and childish, or deep and mature-sounding? Mellow, or harsh?
    • For example, you could say, “She has a quiet voice and speaks in a very level tone. Her speech is slow and deliberate, and she always takes a moment to think about what she wants to say before talking.”
  4. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 12

    4

Note her body language. A surprising amount of human communication is nonverbal.[9]
Being able to describe the girl’s body language can really help your listener or reader get a good grasp of what she is like. For example:

    • Describe how she uses her hands when she is speaking. Does she gesture a lot, or does she usually sit still with her hands in her lap?
    • Discuss whether her stance tends to be open and confident (arms at her sides, head up) or closed off and defensive (arms folded in front of her chest, gaze down or off to the side).
    • Talk about her facial expressions. Does she smile a lot and make eye contact? Is she more likely to frown or have a blank expression?
    • You could say something like, “She’s very animated. Her hands are always in motion when she’s talking.”
  5. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 13

    5

Mention any special personality quirks. Just like distinguishing physical characteristics, people can have distinctive behaviors or mannerisms that make them stand out. Think about things like particular words she uses all the time or gestures she regularly makes.

    • For example, maybe she chews her fingernails or twirls her hair around her fingers when she’s talking to someone.
    • Maybe she clears her throat a lot or uses certain phrases all the time (e.g., starting every other sentence with “Yeah, so, anyway . . .”).

  1. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 14

    1

Avoid giving too many details about her appearance. Your reader will probably lose interest if you bog them down with a long list of physical characteristics and superficial details. Stick to a handful of features that you think are most important for conveying what the girl looks like.[10]

    • For example, “She was a young girl, no more than 15, with a narrow face and dark, fierce eyes. She was all straight lines and hard angles except for her cloud of downy brown hair.”
    • Don’t linger over the minute details of her hairstyle, clothing, and physical dimensions unless they are directly relevant to what is happening in the moment you are describing. Just sketch out the basics.
  2. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 15

    2

Choose words that evoke a specific image. When selecting descriptive words, look for ways to create a strong impact without having to layer on too many vague adjectives. Pick words that automatically bring up a clear and well-defined image in the reader’s mind.[11]

    • For example, instead of saying “She had really pale blue eyes,” try something like “Her eyes were the color of sea foam.”
    • Instead of saying “Her hair was long and light brown,” try “Her hair cascaded down her back like a honey-colored waterfall.”
  3. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 16

    3

Show her personality and mannerisms rather than telling about them. When trying to give your readers a sense of what the girl is like as a person, use concrete examples to illustrate her major characteristics. Simply telling your readers what she is like instead of showing them will make her feel flat and unconvincing.[12]

    • For example, instead of saying “Lily thought everything was funny,” try something like: “Lily had dissolved into helpless giggles again. It didn’t take much to set her off. She once laughed through an entire algebra lecture after the professor sneezed while explaining how to find the slope of a line.”
  4. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 17

    4

Use figurative language to keep your description interesting. Your descriptions don’t always have to be literal. Bring the girl to life in the reader’s mind by using simile, metaphor, and descriptors that create a powerful feeling or impression without necessarily offering specific details.[13]

    • For example, “Her voice was like warm molasses poured over fluffy brown sugar.”
  5. Image titled Describe a Girl Step 18

    5

Try to work descriptions in naturally. Instead of interrupting the narrative to describe the girl’s appearance or mannerisms, try to work descriptive information into the flow of the story. For example, you might mention something about her appearance while describing an action she is performing.[14]

    • Instead of saying, “She had long, black hair that she wore in a ponytail,” try something like: “’Let’s go,’ she said, quickly pulling her black hair into a ponytail that swept her shoulder blades as she walked.”

Most people like to believe their personality and character are valued over physical attractiveness, but in reality, beautiful men and women are typically more sought-after and admired than those who are merely average-looking. Additionally, as clinical psychiatrist Dale Archer points out in «The Psychology of Beauty,» published on Psychology Today, beautiful women might become so used to admiration that they expect compliments. If a beautiful girl is in your life or you’re trying to attract one, prepare yourself by learning various innovative ways to describe her beauty and get her attention.

What Is Beauty?

Deciding exactly what makes a girl beautiful can help you focus your description. Think about each specific physical feature, such as her eyes, hair or smile. Ask yourself if any details in particular draw your attention and stick in your memory. Think about what makes each characteristic so appealing. Perhaps her eyes are an unusual color, such as a deep shade of violet blue, or her smile is engaging because it seems so joyful and sincere. Don’t forget to include some characteristics of her inner beauty such as kindness or her ability to enjoy simple pleasures; no one wants to be admired for their looks alone.

How Beauty Affects the Viewer

Don’t forget to include the impact her beauty has on you. If you find her beauty so overwhelming and distracting that you can’t concentrate on anything else, let her know that’s how she affects you. If you can’t stop thinking about her or picturing her in your mind when you’re apart, include that detail in your description. On Psychology Today, clinical psychologist Leon F. Selzer says in, «The Hidden Role of Flattery and Baby Talk in Romantic Love,» that praising the one you admire helps inflame passion. An honest and heartfelt expression of how her beauty makes you feel enriches your description.

Using Figurative Language

Poetic comparisons enhance descriptions of a beautiful girl. Consider similes that use the words, «like» or «as» to highlight the girl’s qualities in the comparison. For example, «Her black hair shimmered like a lake in moonlight,» instantly conveys the mental image of ripples. Metaphors that describe the comparison without using «like» or «as» also convey an image, such as: «Her eyes were pools of bejeweled water.» Hyperbole or exaggeration is also often used to describe beauty as in the line, «Your beauty takes my breath away.»

Famous Descriptions of Beauty

Throughout the centuries, poets have used figurative language to describe beautiful women. Shakespeare’s sonnets provide examples of how to use such literary devices. When Romeo first sees Juliet in the well-known play, «Romeo and Juliet,» he describes her beauty using metaphor, simile and hyperbole, «Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night, Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope’s ear … I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.» You might not be a Shakespeare, but you can learn to describe beautiful girls using poetic language.
