Compound Word Equations with Pictures
I just love this activity and so do my students! They search the container to find the pictures that match the words listed in the equation to form a compound word.
It’s so neat to watch them sort out individual words versus the compound word and understand that two words, that are completely unrelated, form a new word that is completely different.

Compound Word Sorting Activity
When teaching compound words, it’s important to understand what’s not a compound word, especially if it may seem like it is. This activity introduces root words, suffixes, and prefixes and how they compare to compound words.

Compound Word Puzzle Cards
I’m super excited to provide yet another way to teach children compound words, especially younger children who may struggle with reading.
When using this printable, cut out the cards, and then cut them in half on the dotted line provided. Students will then have the task of match halves to create full images.
Each half includes one word that’s part of the compound word. When the puzzles are put together, the child can see what two words make the compound word.
