The
merry-go-round of college life
is something that one never forgets. It’s a fascinating, fantastic,
fabulous experience, ir­respective of the fact whether one is a
full-time or a part-time stu­dent.

Who can
forget the first day at the university when one turns from an
applicant who has
passed entrance exams into a
first-year student? I did it! I
entered, I got in to the university! A
solemn cere­mony in front of the
university building and serious people
making speeches. Hey, lad, do you
happen to know who they are? Who? The
rector, vice-rectors, deans, subdeans…
and what about those la­dies? Heads
of departments and
senior lecturers? Okay. Some of them
must be professors, some — associate
or
assistant professors, but, of course,
all of them have high academic degrees.
And where are our lecturers
and tutors?
Oh, how nice…

The
monitors hand out
student membership cards, student record books
and library cards
— one feels like a real person. First celebra­tions and then
days of hard work. So many classes,
so many new subjects to put on the
timetable! The
curriculum seems to be devel­oped
especially for geniuses. Lectures,
seminars and
tutorials. Home
preparations; a real avalanche of
homeworks.

If one can
not cope with the work load of college
he or she im­mediately starts
lagging behind. It is easier to
keep pace with the programme than to
catch up with it later. Everyone tries
hard to be, or at least to look,
diligent. First
tests and examination sessions. The
first successes
and first failures: «I have
passed!» or «He has not given me a pass!»
Tears and smiles. And a long-awaited
vacation.

The
merry-go-round runs faster. Assignments,
written reproduc­tions, compositions, synopses, papers.
Translations checked up
and marked.

College Life is one of the most remarkable and lovable times of an individual’s life. Unlike School Life, College Life has a different experience, and a person needs to have this experience in his/her life. College Life exposes us to whole new experiences which we always dream of experiencing after our school life. Lucky are those who get the chance to enjoy their college life, as many people don’t get this chance due to their circumstances or financial issues. For every person, College Life has a different meaning. While some people spend their college life partying with friends, others become more cautious about their careers and study hard. Whatever the way, every individual enjoys their college life and always wishes to relive that time once it is over.

College Life Experience: How is it different from School Life?

Both school life and college life is the most memorable time of a person’s life, but both of them are quite different from each other. While in School life, we learn everything in a protected environment, College Life exposes us to a new environment where we have to learn new things and face new challenges by ourselves. We spend half of our young lives in school, and thus we get comfortable living in that environment. But College Life is for three years only, where every year introduces new challenges and lessons to us. While in school, our teachers and friends always protect and guard us, in college life we form a relationship with our mentors, and they don’t protect us all the time as our school teachers did. 

Unlike school life, we don’t have many limitations in college life, and it is up to us how we want to spend our college life. In college life, we see new faces and experience a unique environment in which we have to mingle ourselves. We make new friends there who stay with us for the rest of our lives. Also, we get a chance to shape our careers asking the right decisions and studying hard. College life is not only about the study but also about the overall development of an individual through various activities and challenges.

In College Life, one gets a chance to make their own decisions. In school life, students get an opportunity to be class monitors. In College Life, an individual gets a chance to nominate himself/herself for more prominent positions like College President, Vice President, Secretary, and Vice Secretary. Apart from deciding the course and stream, an individual gets a chance to build his/her confidence by being a part of various societies and events that take place all year.

Different from School Life, College Life has its importance in a person’s life, and one should always enjoy his/her college life.

A Bridge Between Our Student and Adult Lives

College life is considered a bridge in our lives between our school days and our career. It prepares us with the finest academics and platform to generate dreams into realities. It acts as a transition to prepare us to be more independent. In school, we were dependent on our parents. However, we became independent in college regarding studying, traveling, decision-making, and financially independent after college. It is a valued and very smooth transition where we do not realize that we have become independent. 

Some Fun Memories from College Life

Firstly, some of the most fun memories of college are “college canteen”. The canteen is supposed to be where most of the students satisfy their hunger and hang out with their friends. 

Secondly, it’s the “annual fest” of the colleges. Fests always filled the student’s life with excitement and buzz. It gave new opportunities to explore, compare, compete and provide a platform to showcase their talent. It became a place where students take lots of pictures and record their experiences. 

Last but not the least, it’s the college trips. One of the best things in college life is field trips where they can go out and have quality time with their friends and teacher and learning experience. Field trips or just any other college trips are filled with stories and dramas. Every student has their own story to tell about their college trips. 

We should enjoy our college days as they cannot be brought back just like our school days. 

The Hardest Part of College Life

As a college student, the hardest part of college life was leaving college after graduation or post-graduation. The last days of college were the hardest, knowing that soon you will be departing your friends, the campus, teachers and completely leaving behind a part of life.  

My College Days Experience

Talking about my college life, I had enjoyed my college life to the fullest and had some of the best college days of my life. I was a student of one of the most reputed colleges of Delhi University and, i.e. Gargi College. I have completed my B.A. (Hons.) in Applied Psychology from there. Gargi College is one of the renowned and best colleges of Delhi University. Built in a larger area, it is a beautiful college with many courses in streams like Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities. With an outstanding academic record, it is a girls college.

When I took admission to this college, I was really afraid as all the people were new to me. But soon, I started enjoying my college life and made some fantastic friends. I loved everything about my college and participated in the events at my college. Even I joined the dance society of my college and participated in many dance competitions that occurred in different colleges of Delhi University. 

One of the best things about college life is that you get a new experience every day. In my college life, along with studying, I and my friends enjoyed a lot of other things. We traveled to lots of places, had new experiences, and learned many new things. Our college’s canteen was a remarkable place in my college life as whenever we got time, we used to chill in the canteen. 

Another thing I loved about my college life is Annual Fests. Every year, every college of Delhi University organizes an annual fest that lasts for 2-3 days. In this annual fest, various competitions happen, and students from various colleges come to be a part of this annual fest. Every year, our college organizes a massive annual fest and all the students of our college participate in various events and enjoy a lot in this fest. These fests allow students to socialize with new people and showcase their talent to everyone which builds their confidence and helps them in their future. I have participated in my college’s annual fest for all three years, and I have got the best exposure and experience of my life through this fest. I had the best time of my life in college, and my college life memories will always make me happy.

Life After College

One fine day, you will be silently smiling with wet eyes, looking at the pictures from your college and old friends, and remembering all the good times you had in your college days. That is the beauty of studying in a college. Despite climbing the ladders of success, you will cherish the memories of your college life.

   When you study at university, your own world becomes wider. You meet many new people, even much more than at school, maybe. If you study well, you can meet your future employer because you have an opportunity to get the work experience, to participate in different conferences and so on. Maybe, at university it is even more interesting to study because you study subjects which are interesting for you and which are connected with your future job. As they are interesting, it becomes easier to study though the subjects are more difficult than at school.

   However, student life includes not only the process of education. It is full of interesting cultural and sport events. There is a student spring festival in Russia. It is held in spring. Every department of the university prepares for it. Students prepare musical and dance shows. This festival is a good opportunity for students to show their skills in music, dances or art. One more event is Universiade where sportsmen studied at university can show their sport abilities.

   In my opinion, student life is quite interesting. It is full of different events. During this period of life you can discover something new.

   Жизнь студента очень трудная. Я должна контролировать свой день самостоятельно. У меня нет возможности попросить помощи у родителей и друзей и я должна решать проблемы самостоятельно. Конечно, я могу позвонить своим родителям и попросить совет, но сейчас абсолютно все зависит от меня.

После ужина я делаю домашние задания, читаю книги, которые нужно прочесть по программе, делаю заметки. У меня нет времени смотреть телевизор, общаться с друзьями и читать журналы.    Студенческая жизнь очень интересная и насыщенная. Я наслаждаюсь каждой минутой. Эта жизнь однажды закончится и я пойду работать. Пока у меня есть отличная возможность встречать новых людей, общаться с умными и опытными наставниками и изучать что-то новое. 5. Students are the future of every country. They are young citizens of our society, full of infinite energy and progressive ideas, fantastic plans and noble ambitions, hopes and dreams. Student life is the brightest period of our life. It is a mixture of studies and great fun.  I know that my parents (ex-students) miss those old good days of their student life.
   A student has certain duties to perform. It goes without saying that the primary student duty is studying hard and acquiring proper knowledge for the future career. He must attend all the classes at college, do all the work at the right time, be punctual and disciplined. It can help the student achieve his goals and become diligent and perseverant. If he doesn’t neglect his studies he will receive rich dividends in his future work.
   Examination time at the end of each semester is quite tough for students. They spend endless days and nights on studying and cramming. Although some of them use cheating, copying someone’s essays or course works. And you are lucky if you are not caught by the teacher because he can punish you by a poor mark or even by excluding from the college.
   Most of the student’s time is devoted to reading and learning. It’s unbelievable but some students manage to deal with part-time jobs because they need a lot of money to study at college or university. Tuition fees and books are very costly nowadays, and if you rent an apartment it’s even more expensive. So students have busy schedules including studies, work and going out to socialize.
   A good student never wastes his spare time uselessly. He should also go in for sports to stay in good health and mood. They say: “A sound mind lives in a sound body.” Students love participating in both academic and extra-curricular activities at college: different festivals, intellectual quizzes and summer camps. This social life broadens the mind, develops your talents and communication skills. And this is a wonderful time when you find real friends among your classmates at college.
   Finally I’d like to say that it is absolutely great to be a student!

Разумеется, что первостепенной задачей студента является усердная учеба и приобретение необходимых знаний для будущей карьеры. Он обязан посещать все занятия в колледже, выполнять все задания в нужное время, быть пунктуальным и дисциплинированным. Это поможет студенту в достижении своих целей и в становлении старательным и настойчивым человеком. Если он не будет пренебрегать своей учебой, он получит богатые дивиденды в будущей работе.
   Экзаменационная пора в конце каждого семестра – довольно сложное время для студентов. Они проводят бесконечные дни и ночи за учебой и зубрежкой. Хотя некоторые практикуют списывание, копирование чужих эссе или курсовых работ. 7. We live in the 21st century. It is the century of since and education. And if you want to get an excellent education and get a big salary, you ought to study hard. For most teenagers studying becomes a serious problem. And now I will try to explain my point of view on this vital problem of the day.
   Studying takes a lot of time. I think everybody wants to be well educated. But it is a kind of work. Really it is hard work. With this point of view most of students begin missing classes; they do not do their homework, argue with teachers, and then their results become worse and worse. Students with weak willpower begin to drink alcohol and smoke. It is terrible because half of such people have talents to music, art, chemistry, physics, or other subjects. They miss not only classes; they miss all their chances, which are given to them by their destiny. And then, when they become older, they start cribbing about everything. When I meet such a person, I want to say: “Hey, it is your fault. And only you could change your life”.
   Another category of people, such as me, tries to work hard. As for me, I have to study almost every day. I go to Gymnasia. Everybody knows that it is very hard.  I go to school 6 days a week. Every day I have 6 or 7 classes. I have to do much homework. My day off is Sunday. But even Sunday is a busy day. Besides school, I attend various courses, personal tuition, and I go dancing. It helps me to relax and not to think about my problems. I cannot sleep for a long time because of much homework and housework. A lot of students also have problems with sleeping. Some of them suffer from insomnia. So you see that it is really difficult. But I try. I want to be a well educated person. I want to build a house for my parents. I want to have an opportunity to support my future family.
   All in all, I would like to stress that without hardworking it is impossible to be a success. Students all over the world try to get an excellent education. They think about their future. They work without sparing themselves. And what can you do for your future?

Well, sometimes, but it can also be a lot of fun!! We asked some first year students to give us the low-down on student life in the UK!

    It’s great to be a student. Many colleges and universities offer great opportunities for studying and for social life. Some students even choose to study abroad. There are several reasons why student life is exciting. First of all, students learn what they need for their future profession. It’s even better if the student really enjoys the direction he or she chose. Secondly, being a student doesn’t mean to work and study all the time. They get plenty of free time for their hobbies and favourite pastimes. Thirdly, students’ social life is very interesting. When students decide to study in foreign colleges, it’s also rather exciting. They get to meet lots of new people from other countries. They can practice and improve their language skills. To study at a college students usually have to pay additional fee. College life is amazing in many ways. First of all, there are many interesting lections and training sessions. Secondly, students find all sorts of entertainment there. For example, the ones who like sport join the local sports teams. For many people college years are the best in life. Almost everyone has good memories of student life. It is even more interesting to be a student if you live in a dormitory. After the sessions they can play the guitar and sing songs. The ones, who like dancing, go to local discos. Others get together simply to chat and discuss the topics they’ve learned. Student life is never boring. It is always full of excitement and interesting experiences.

    So, let me introduce myself. My name is Pavel, my surname is Demidoff. I’m 19 years old man. As you might have already understood, I’m a student.
    I have been studying at Saint-Petersburg State Medical University named after I.Pavlov since 2013, and I’m going to be a highly qualified specialist in surgery as my dad. People say that I’m very respectful, sociable, flexible and caring. I hope that all these characteristics can help me to become a good doctor. I’m absolutely sure, that when I complete my degree, I might get the opportunity to start a stable and fantastic career in the main hospital of our city.
    I grew up in a happy family. I had an elder brother and two little sisters and this brightened my childhood, as we were always together. It helped me to learn how to communicate and collaborate with people even if I don’t want to do it. My parents had perfect stable careers and this provided us with more opportunities to get everything we wanted: expensive toys, new gadgets, brand clothes and travelling. When I was younger I played piano and my parents wanted me to become a great pianist. It was too hard to disappoint them when I decided to be a doctor, to heal people and to take care about them.
    As for my interests, I devote much time to coin collecting and writing my own medical researches. Moreover, some years ago I started to write a fantasy novel in George Martin’s style. I suppose that when I finish it, the novel becomes a bestseller of a year. I also like computer games and good rock music.
    I’m very sociable, that’s why I have a lot of friends and a lovely girlfriend. It would be a mistake to say that I’m the life and the sole of the party, but my friends try to stay in touch with me anytime and share their secrets with me. I’m a smart and a handsome young man and people like me. I highly appreciate this and always give feedback.

    During all the periods of human history education ranked high among people. Human progress mostly depended upon well-educated people. We get our knowledge of this world and life through education. Many famous discoveries would have been impossible if people were not interested in learning something. Self-education is very important for the development of human’s talents. Only through self-education a person can become a harmonically developed personality.
    A person becomes a highly qualified specialist after getting some special education. And professionalism can be reached only through it. Even highly qualified specialists from time to time attend refresher courses to refresh their knowledge.
    Education develops all sides of human personality, reveals his abilities. Besides, it helps a person to understand himself, to choose the right way in this world. The civilized state differs from others in the fact that it pays much attention to the educational policy. John Kennedy said: “Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education”. But it doesn’t concern only one particular nation. We know that science and art belong to the whole world. Before them the barriers of nationality disappear. So education brings people closer to each other, helps them to understand each other better.

    University life for me
    The merry-go-round of University life is something that one never forgets. It is a fascinating, fantastic, fabulous experience.
    It’s a hundred percent true. Who can forget the day when he turns from an applicant who has passed entrance exams into a first-year student? That’s great!
    Everyone tries hard to be, or at least to look, diligent, smart and enthusiastic. First tests and examination session. The first successes and first failures. Can you forget that? I can’t.
    I am a 5-year part-time student now and I’m not so diligent, not so smart and not so enthusiastic as when I was a first-year student. Studying at University has changed people and it’s changed me.
    It is a fabulous experience with great parties and meeting different kind of people but also it is a hard work: lectures, seminars and tutorials, a real avalanche of homework, assignments, written reproductions, compositions, synopses and papers. Works handed in and handed out. It’s a very hard and difficult work, don’t you think so?
    I’m study at faculty of philology. Special disciplines so as history of Russian and foreign literature, psychology, ancient languages, Russian language and other give students knowledge on different problems.
    So I think the studying at the university is a great step to a grown life. Having ended the university and becoming highly skilled experts we shall define the future of the native land, the our future and the future of the children and in a new 21 century on which revival of our country is necessary, blossoming of our faces, our abilities, our talent.
