How do you use as well as?
We usually use as well at the end of a clause: We look forward very much to seeing you again and to meeting your wife as well. As well as is a multi-word preposition which means ‘in addition to’: She has invited Jill as well as Kate.
Do we put comma after as?
Common starter words for introductory clauses that should be followed by a comma include after, although, as, because, if, since, when, while. However, don’t put a comma after the main clause when a dependent (subordinate) clause follows it (except for cases of extreme contrast).
What comes after as well as?
When we put a verb after as well as, we use the -ing form of the verb. (This might sound really strange to a non-native speaker, but the grammar books agree on this.) Running is healthy as well as making you feel good. He broke the window, as well as destroying the wall.
Is as well formal?
“As well” is a little more formal than “too” and less common in American spoken English. Many Americans do use it in writing, however. “Also” is generally more common in writing than speech.
Can I say you too as well?
“As you as well” is not grammatical English. The simplest reply would be ‘You too’. You could also say ‘[The] same to you’.
Where do you put as well in a sentence?
Too and as well are used at the end of a sentence. (As well is more formal than too). Also usually goes before the verb or adjective….You can also rephrase this to use also, too, or as well:
- She also bought the earrings.
- She bought the earrings, too.
- She bought the earrings as well.
Can I say you as well?
No, that word order is not grammatical. You say “you too” but not “too you.” However, you can say both “you also” and “also you.” There is no semantic reason why the word must precede or follow the noun.
How do you say thank you too?
You could also say “You, too” or “Thank you, too” or “Ditto” or anything equivalent. mkennedy and Hackworth are right, but one might also say “and thank you for the [blah blah blah]”.
Is it you too or to?
To is a preposition with several meanings, including “toward” and “until.” Too is an adverb that can mean “excessively” or “also.” Just to be clear: two is pronounced the same as to and too, but it can’t be used instead of either of them because it’s a number.
What is the response to have a good day?
If the person is saying, “Have a good day!” as the end of the conversation, it is polite to say, “Thanks, you too!” This shows that you hope they have a good day as well.
What is the reply for good?
The best answer is to say “thanks” acknowledging the other person’s well wishes. You might also respond with a simple “yep,” a more informal acknowledgment.
Have a great day you too meaning?
A great day to you, too. I assume it is a response so “too” – as in also – is correct. In fact “You have a great day too” is a variation on the rather less chummy “I hope you also have a great day”. To have a great day “to” – is to have a great day to do something, meet someone etc.
