Associations with the word love

Below is a massive list of love words — that is, words related to love. The top 4 are: lover, passion, beloved and adore. You can get the definition(s) of a word in the list below by tapping the question-mark icon next to it. The words at the top of the list are the ones most associated with love, and as you go down the relatedness becomes more slight. So although you might see some synonyms of love in the list below, many of the words below will have other relationships with love — you could see a word with the exact opposite meaning in the word list, for example. I believe sometimes we have hidden associations to the word Love. These associations can be positive or limiting, which in turn reflect the level of love we have in our life. A diagrammatic association to the word love helps us get a sneak peek into the workings within the unconscious mind.

Anyone can create this diagram on a piece of paper and ask the unconscious mind to use the non dominant hand  to list the words associated with Love.

A female volunteer created the following diagram with her associations to the word Love. The first level associations to the word Love were in horizontal line beneath the word Love in the diagram below. In her mind, love is associated with Control, Anger, Mother, Failure, Rejection, Temporary, Friendship, Joy, Money, Peace, Food, Abuse, Conditional, Her kids, God and Agenda. She then proceeded to associate words to each word associated with Love.

As we can see, the word Love is associated with the word Anger, which is also associated with Mother, who is also associated with the word Anger. The volunteer also has the word Control, Pain and Abuse associated with the word Love. This association gives mixed messages to the unconscious mind in allowing more love to come into the person’s life.  The unconscious does not have logic, however it knows how to build associations based on past experiences. This is where we, the conscious adult mature self, need to step in and be the parent and re-educate the unconscious mind like a parent teaching a child.

I noticed the word Money associated with the word Love. Money is an energy to buy stuff to live on earth until money is no longer the medium of exchange. Associating it with Love can be a red flag.

Going further, the word Love is associated with God, which in turn is associated with Punishment. These are pretty limiting associations. God is neither wrathful nor punishing; movies, stories and religion make stories about God that are not true. This conflicting association can prevent one from having a close relationship with God.

I noticed the word Men associated with the word Money. She believes men have money and not women, which is limiting and an old lineage victim thought that females may carry in their mind.

Once all the associations are made, we get a good network that is a diagrammatic depiction of our inner belief system and our subsequent limited outer creations. Now comes the best part – we get to reprogram the limiting associations and enforce the positive. This is done through a writing exercise using the dominant and non dominant hands. Logic, love, objectivity and reasoning skills are valuable in conscious re-parenting the unconscious mind.

Allow the conscious mind (the wise adult aspect) to write a letter to the unconscious mind, using the dominant hand, and ask for the reason the word Abuse got associated with Love. Let the unconscious mind reply through the non dominant hand. Maybe the unconscious mind remembers living in foster homes or abusive families and made the association then. Now the Conscious mind can re-educate the unconscious and let it know when there is abuse, there is no love. Sometimes, parents and caregivers can act in emotionally imbalanced ways that are not loving. This can be due to many reasons. Let the unconscious mind know these limiting associations with the word Love have caused the adult much pain. Once the unconscious mind agrees to let go of these associations, destroy the paper and allow the new positive beliefs to now manifest.

I believe doing the same writing exercise for all other associations, such as the association of the word Pain with Permanence,  will help one get a clean slate to start manifesting without mixed messages. In this case, the conscious mind can help the unconscious mind know that pain is temporary, has a purpose, which one becomes clear with time. Sometimes pain teaches us to have empathy for another in the same situation.  However, when one has long term pain, it may be due to the resistance or confusion in accepting the challenges and losses in life. This is for each one to contemplate and discover what the truth is. All humans have challenges, some have more than others. However, our happiness is our 1^st importance, and no matter how much pain we have endured, releasing it through acceptance and forgiveness is the doorway to freedom.
