  • to forget (that)… – забыть, (что)…;
  • to forget what/how/where/when – забыть что/как/где/когда;
  • to forget to do smth – забыть что-то сделать (действие не произошло);
  • to forget doing smth – забыть что-то (действие уже произошло).

I have to go out, I forgot to buy some bread. – Мне нужно выйти, я забыл купить хлеба.

I’ll never forget meeting my favourite football player from Liverpool! – Я никогда не забуду встречу с моим любимым футболистом из Ливерпуля!

Глагол to forget также употребляется в значении «оставить что-то где-то». Однако нужно помнить, что мы не можем использовать to forget, когда уточняем место, где оставили вещь. В этом случае употребляется глагол to leave. Сравните:
