snow
There have been several manmade snow events in recent history. All of them have had a negative impact on the environment and public safety.
The first manmade snow was created by Lewis Hill in 1818. Hill was experimenting with a process to freeze water vapor. The event was small and minor, but it showed the potential for manmade snow.
The most famous manmade snow was created in 1949 by U.S. Air Force scientists. They were using an atomic bomb to create snow on a desert in Nevada. The event created a lot of attention and was used to demonstrate the possibilities of using atomic bombs for weather modification.
