2.This boy is so guileless to the point that make a con man ask him to hand over his pass-codes for the bank accounts and he does as the con man asked. As things stand, he has lot fifty thousand dollars.

Does the second highlighted I wrote natural? Thanks.

No, «that make» doesn’t work there at all, and there are multiple errors in your sentences.

This boy is so guileless to the point that

That part is correct. But attaching an example after it is tricky. You can’t just add sentences in English. The part starting with «a con man» is a hypothetical situation — you have to introduce it properly, and say it properly. It will probably end up in a different sentence, or even 2 sentences.

    dojibear

    • #4

This boy is so guileless to the point that

Oops. Even that part is incorrect. It should be one of these:

This boy is so guileless that
This boy is guileless to the point that

In other words «so…that» and «to the point that» have the same meaning.

The part starting with «a con man» is a hypothetical situation — you have to introduce it properly, and say it properly.

This boy is guileless to the point that when a con man askes him for the banking passcode, he would hand over without hesitation as the con man requests.

Did I introduce this hypothesis properly?

This boy is guileless to the point that when a con man askes him for the banking passcode, he would hand over without hesitation as the con man requests.

Did I introduce this hypothesis properly?

I would make it an if conditional:

This boy is guileless to the point that if a con man asked him for the banking passcode, he would hand it over without hesitation as the con man requested.

The words in italics are probably redundant.

I would make it an if conditional:

This boy is guileless to the point that if a con man asked him for the banking passcode, he would hand it over without hesitation as the con man requested.

The words in italics are probably redundant.

Yes, judging from the context, that he hands over the passcode is definitely requested by the con man. There’s no need to mention it again.

On second thoughts, if I change «without hesitation» to «within 5 minutes», that would make sense, right?

he would hand it over within 5 minutes as the con man requested.

How to use «To the point» in context?

I always think that «to the point» is a great way to communicate. It cuts down on wasted words, which is always a good thing. Plus, when you communicate this way, people know that you are not wasting their time……

….and that is always a virtue, isn’t it? Plus, this style of communication is extremely quick and to the point. You can really get your point across in a hurry……

…..which is great if you are someone who is always on the go. However, this type of communication can also be a bit difficult to understand. Some people might find it difficult to follow.

Is there any adjective synonymous to «to the point»?

    For example,

    «Jack’s and Jill’s answers are quite to-the-point, but Mary’s answer is the most-to-the-point one»

    EDIT:

    A better example:

Teacher: «Can anyone come up with a good logical syllogism proving that all humans need the Sun?»

Linda: «I got it! Here, in my encyclopedia page 345 says, ‘All fish need water and the Sun’ I think it’s exactly what we need!»

Jack: «All humans need to live. The Sun doesn’t live. So, all humans need the Sun»

Jill: «All humans like fish. Without the Sun, all fish will die. So, all humans will be sad without the Sun»

Mary: «Anything alive needs the Sun (otherwise, if there is no Sun, anything alive will die). All humans are alive. Thus, all humans need the Sun»

so, Jack’s and Jill’s answers are quite to-the-point, but Mary’s answer is the most-to-the-point one
