How to use «Lady» in context?

Most people associate the word «lady» with a certain type of woman: someone who is elegant and sophisticated. While this is typically the image that comes to mind, lady could also simply mean woman. Ironically, the word «lady» has its origins in the Latin word for «male deer.» Back in the days when deer were hunted for their meat, the hunters would track them down by calling out «lady, lady.» The deer would then know to stop and the hunter could easily take them down. Because of this history, the word «lady» has come to connote something noble and worthy.
