Android studio typo in word

When naming variables or giving String arguments Android Studio seems to have a problem with how I label things.

Is there a way to turn that off?

Yes, open Preferences -> Editor -> Inspections -> Spelling -> toggle off Typo and press OK.

Edit

To make it as default not only for your project select Profile: Default.

On Android Studio 4.1.x you have to open File > Settings and uncheck Typo inside Editor > Inspections > Proofreading (you could also find it using the search box on top of Settings screen).

In Android Studio 3.6.1 (and probably some other versions), go into File > Settings, search for «spelling», and choose the Inspections category:

Android Studio Spelling Settings

Either turn of «Typo» entirely or configure the options (lower-right corner in screenshot) to determine where you do and do not want spell-check.

The Spelling category lets you control what language dictionaries get used, etc.

You can add the word in «Accepted words» list:
Open File -> Settings -> Editor/Spelling, click + below «Accepted words» and add word, so you can let spell checing intact.

Edit: You can also add @SuppressWarnings("SpellCheckingInspection") for Java or @Suppress("SpellCheckingInspection") for Kotlin before a Class, Function or Sub and also keep spell checking for other parts of code.

The literal translation of the message:

Spellchecker inspection helps locate typos and misspelling in your
code, comments and literals, and fix them in one click.

It is the following:

Inspection of the orthographic corrector helps to locate errors
typos and spelling errors in your code, comments and
Verbatim, and to correct them with one click.

When it appears on a word, there is no need to be alarmed. It means that that word is not in the dictionary.

Did you come to use processors like Microsoft Word, remember that they put a kind of red-wrapped underlined under the wrong words? Something like that happens here. Of course, in a text processor that that is very serious, but not in a code editor (not at least in terms of program operation). That won’t make any mistakes in your code.

You can do several things:

  • add the word to the dictionary,
  • deactivate SpellChecker
  • or ignore alerts (not as eye-catching as wrong code alerts).

It weighs well the decision you make, especially if you decide for the first or the second. If you don’t plan to use the dictionary, don’t add words to it just so that Android Studio doesn’t bother you with that warning; if you plan to use the dictionary, don’t deactivate SpellChecker. ..

SpellChecker is an Android framework. Intuition that serves p. e. to document code. In this link they explain what this framework consists and explain how it works. Maybe by reading it completely you can decide what you should do in this case.

They introduce him by saying this:

The Android platform offers a frame of spelling fixer that
allows to implement and access the orthographic correction in its
implementation. The framework is one of the text services APIs that
offers the Android platform.

To use the frame in your application, create a special type of service
of Android that generates an object of session of the orthographic corrector.
Depending on the text you provide, the session object returns
orthography suggestions generated by the orthographic corrector.
